What do you think? Can't believe he struggles on Nissan considering his daddys ride!

Back in February a nice gentleman decided to key my car whilst i queued for a Coffee outside the Luas. I finally decided to bite the bullet and have the car booked in for monday to get the driver side front to back resprayed and the front bumper gets a full respray as well. Wanted to tart it up if I was accepted for the Canonball but unfortunately i'm not! I've been booked in to Dennings near the SpaWell and must say even before the work is done i'm quietly confident that they will do an excellent job. Great customer services / welcoming when I arrived and ticked all the boxes as partnership in place with my current insurance provider. (No reducation on excess though - a pity) I'll post up a few pictures of the before and after shortly when I get the chance and give you a final review of the work completed. On a side note i'm trying to figure out what to do with the front end at the same time. I'm getting the Nissan Badge removed and looking to either get a cool looking Z fabricated to slot in the Nissan's place or just get it filled in. What do you think? Any suggestions? I'm also getting the front reflectors smoked silver at the same time. Any nice ideas before monday would be great Russ

Hi, I've the Avic900bt installed on mine and i've completely removed the BOSE amp and rewired all the OEM speakers back through the ISO loom. Works well except the tweeters but i can live with that until the rest of my gear arrives. I've earthed mine directly from my ISO loom onto the bolt top left behind where the unti sits on the dash itself. I earthed the handbrake identifier to so i can have it on when moving. Defo need to upgrade to latest firmware 2.0 just incase you have yet to do yours... VERY IMPORTANT Russ

Just a quick update. HeadUnit is now wired up and just tested it today. Unfortuantely i have no sound yet as i have still to decide on speakers to replace the door speakers and the pair behind the headrests. Any suggestions on particular model? i'm looking for quality over price... happy to pay to get the right ones. As i'm yet to take off the door plastics i don't even know what the dimensions are the speakers on the door. Anyone? And what the recommended replacement size should be. Added a picture of the headunit all wired up but not inserted into the dash.. later today no doubt. http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.armstrong/350zAudioInstall# Anyway will hopefully start making better progress over the next week once my sound deadening arrives. Cheers Russ

Cheers Bundas for your reply.... i'll be looking into those items especially the brown bread as it seems to get decent reviews. I'm thinking i might just bite the bullet and start with the wiring over the weekend. Question i have though is regarding the existing loom. Does anyone have an online reference / wiring diagram to help me if i was to buy a standard ISO block and then rewire the appropriate connections directly into it. Ideally i'd love to have a look at the headunit and play around with it so suggestions would be appreciated. I'm thinking in theory if i know which wire is the 12v feed i can simply disconnect it from the BOSE loom and wire it into the ISO block. Before i try this has anyone any idea idea if this is what you do in the scenario that your getting rid of all the BOSE equipment. Plan woul be to buy some speaker cable and wire in new door speaker just so i can start to tinker. Do the speaker cables run into the ISO loom.... assume they would? I'm only on page 50 of "Car Audio for Dummies" so cut me a little slack please

I had the same cover on my last Z and it was a cow to fit and i ended up like some of the pictures posted with a gap over on the driver side. Left it on the car when i traded in. However the cover on the 2007 Z is different, more gun mental and might not be a bad option for people considering a change as i really like mine.

Headunit is out of the Z now and on offer from €100 (euro) as no use to me. Might be useful for non GT buyers looking for the oem touch. Cheers Russ

Cheers Rob - I'm guessing from looking at that post that i need this ICT 29-674 + 29-00* Available here http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/steering ... 9-674.html Nismo i don't know much about audio so i'll have to do a bit of research to see whether its good to have different sizes of subs... It sounds the way to go. I've been toying round with 2 x 10" subs now, one in each corner of the boot with the amp at the back of the spare tyre well with a poly carb cover and some hidden lighting. Need to get my Second Skin sound deadening before i can move with anything!!

I'm going to put all the photo's here as its easier. http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.armstrong Please let me know about the adapter... Thanks

Hi, Just a quick update. Received the head unit yesterday so began removal of BOSE system. Ended up being quite tricky as i found the plug connectors were a bit of a b*tch to get off. I'll attach a few photo's. As suspected no ISO connectors on the audio loom, just three BOSE generic plug connectors. As i am waiting for the sound deadening material to arrive and would like some tunes for the next week or two i want to buy an adapter to get me up and running. Can somebody advise me where i can purchase this with the hope of getting it asap? Apologise about the crap photo's but they are from my phone and i've had to resize them so i could attach to this post Thanks Russ

Waiting now on the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT. Should be with me within the next couple of days. In the mean time just wondering doesn anyone know the state of affairs behind the Factory bose as my bose is slightly different to the one in my last Z, slight facelift but not sure on anything technical thats changed. Question 1) Is their an ISO connection behind the BOSE? Question 2) Is my only option to buy a PAC if i want to use the new headunit while deciding on my new sub /amp package? Thanks Russ

Hi All, I have a full BOSE system from my 2007 350z for sale. All connections / cables / amp / speakers / sub up for grabs if anyone is interested. I have no idea what its worth and i'm really only looking to get some money to help towards the big install which has me broke so open to\ reasonable offers.... Cheers Russ
-
Hi, I'm in the middle of a large audio install which is leaving me with an unused BOSE system including all factory connections / subs / speakers / amps. As oppossed to throwing this up on Ebay and wasting time i'd like to see if anyone wants to do a deal on the site. Is this something thats allowed via this forum and where might i post? Thanks in advance Russ
-
Cheers for all the comments, i'll take them all on board as i am ultimately looking for something that sounds great as well. I've decided on the headunit which is a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT. Plenty of features to keep me interested up front and good price. If anyone knows anything bad about these let me know before the 4th January please.

As i say budget is fairly open although i imagined i'd be able to pick up a good amp in and around 800 - 900 and subs at 150 a piece and headunit around 1k + Am i totally off Stew?
-
Hi Rob, Thanks for your comments. I'll get looking into what you have mentioned. As i like the idea of a number of subs and the overal look and feel of the project which was completed my 'simplicity' i'll be trying to stick as close to this design as possible. I have in my head to spend 3k euro but budget is flexible and the install work / carpentry and most supplies for construction is free. Appreciate the comments, Russ

Ians16 - Its a bit for the bling factor as well i must agree. My musical taste is all over the place thus the idea of 2 large subs didn't appeal to me as much as the multiple 6.5" or 8" options. I'm awaiting quotes from Elemental Desgins which may ultimately change my decision. I want the unit to light up in a similar way and be something to look at as well as hear whilst maintaining an element of stealth
-
Thanks gixxeruk.... budget is fairly open ended will just have to see how it goes. I'm thinking i might even go with 10" subs and have 4 of them - just thinking of getting deeper bass but apparently 7 of the 6.5's works well in the finished application.
-
7 subs based on the design on the link i posted. My friend is a boat builder and excellent craftsman so he's replicating a similar box and i just need to upskill on the hardware side of things as the unit will be ready friday week.. Any suggestions?
