  3. that joke is older than me!
  4. About a 4 1/2 hour 'bus' ride But I agree - Luxor/Karnak then valley of Kings and Queens are a must - there is also a good sunset boat trip (in a Felucca, small sail boat) from Luxor to Banana Island
  5. Been several times and all over Egypt - last time was Sharm El Sheik (Naama Bay) - had a fantastic time scuba diving etc People are really friendly, however you will be mobbed by people selling crappy tourist trinkets in the streets (no matter where you go in tourist parts of Egypt) - just smile and say La Shukran (no thankyou) - other useful phrases here - http://www.touregypt.net/translat.htm Carry a big wad of egyptian pound notes - one of these is the recognised tip for just about everything (even to the little boy that hands you the bog roll in the toilet ) Dont drink tap water or have ice in drinks - but that applies to loads of countries anyway Beer is really cheap - a brand called Sakara sells all over the country. Spirits are prohibitively expensive, and dont be tempted to buy on the black market, its all Bomba (fake) and tastes like meths. If you go out of tourist areas (especially of a night time) word will get around and you will soon be surrounded by 'Tourist Police' for your protection. I found myself at Cairo train station at 3am one day and a man waved at me across the platform and pointed to his oozie machine gun under his jacket and gave me the thumbs up as if to say I am watching out for you, then within 10 mins I was surrounded by Tourist Police - 10 of which came on the train to Luxor with me! Tourism is Egypts greatest form of income, and they protect it! Anyway, I digress - Hurgada is same as Sharm so you wont have any problems there. Have fun - I'm going back in a few weeks hopefully!
  6. Have seen him once from a distance a couple of weeks ago - lovely looking car
  7. Hehe - ur welcome - and welcome to the forum
  8. Young lady driving a GM on Tonbridge road, followed for a couple of mile and flyered at traffic lights (she said she was already a member )

  10. further to - found these defenitions: Car Salvage Insurance Categories All vehicles defined as Motor Salvage are given an insurance category, these help to define exactly what sort of damage has been inflicted on the car and also what it can be used for afterwards. The salvage categories are: Category A A vehicle that has been written-off and which must be completely destroyed. It cannot be used for dismantling into its parts . Notification of Destruction required. (To be crushed). Recorded at DVLA & HPI Category B A vehicle that has been written-off but where it's parts may be re-used. However, the body shell cannot be re-used and must be destroyed. Notification of Destruction required. (Parts can be removed and sold). Recorded at DVLA & HPI Category C An insurance write-off mainly due to the cost of repair would be greated than the value of the car. It is suitable to repair to make it roadworthy. Can be sold for repair but must now have VIC inspection. Recorded at DVLA & HPI. Category D An insurance write-off for other reasons as the repair costs may be less than the value of the vehicle. It is suitable to repair to make it roadworthy. Recorded with HPI. Category X A vehicle which is not listed as being damaged on the HPI register, or one which may have very little damage. Often these are vehicles that have been stolen and then recovered.
  11. Its what I was led to believe - panel and paint damage etc, but subframe chasis undamaged - anyway this car is water only damage etc
  12. Hes not upgrading from anything special - he just loves my car and is having a midlife crisis as I did when I bought mine LOL anyway - founds another! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-350z-GT-st ... 1|294%3A50 My friend has spoken to the seller who bought it as a CAT C water damaged car, and was expecting there to be engine damage as water go in to air instake etc and was expecting to have to do an engine rebuild - however this was not necessay and has been on road and running fine since April. Seller said he would take £11k for this - which is a good price for car and mileage - but the CAT C worries me. Does CAT C have that much of an impact on resale value (bare in mind cat c is non structural damage) Any thoughts/comments I can pass onto my mate? Thanks, Dave
