So as of 5AM today I can safely say having a little life that is purly dependent on you does changes your prespective on life. Is it the best feeling in world - may be not, but there is definitely no other feeling/experience like it. Oh I'm also so glad men cannot get pregnant, I've seen my fair share of blood/gore/horrofic medical stuff etc in A&E, but nothing quite comes close to labour!!! Still cannot praise the midwifed and junior doctor that looked after us enough. I honestly don't think we could have had better care anywhere else in the world, regardless of how much £££ your health care insurance is.....Now, need the work out which way is the front/back of a nappy .

Never have, wouldn't even know how to. They just rape me while I bend over taking it screaming "YES MORE PLEASE", because I'm far to lazy to do anything about it and would prefer to spend my time sitting on the bog shitposting on Reddit. Hmm, I should get an accountant. The whole UK tax system is setup in a manner so that the wealthy can play it which ever way they want. You just need a good enough accountant - Price Waterhouse Coppers was critised for. 'Promoting Tax evasion on an industrial scale' last year, clearly they are the best, so why go any where else . I haven't done the sums, but I'm sure if your anywhere near the 45% income tax threshold your be crazy NOT to employ their services. If I ever get to a six figure income I'll be phoning them up ASAP.

So would i if i am honest, not forgetting that money has probably been taxed already as earnings. How much tax do you think a director of a off-shore company would have paid on £20 million .

They have finally landed a rocket on a boat, in the sea.
gangzoom replied to gangzoom's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Pretty sure that's possible. Now all they needs is empty volcanic island and we can have Thunderbird 1 in real life . -
I don't care what you think about anything, but I still cannot believe a private company has pulled of landing a rocket in the sea after an orbital launch. It took the whole of Europe clubbing in together to even build a reliable rocket to even get into space. The engineering required to pull this stuff off is just crazy!!

Is anyone here really surprised at Cameron and co?? The only public sector workers to get a pay rise in recent years are politicians. The only people in the public sector work who can get away with claiming travel/living/holiday costs are politicians. The only people who think its acceptable to turn up and meet a group of people who are about to loss their jobs in a shiny new Jag are politicians - Though to be fair the Jag is probably paid for by the taxpayer, and all other travel costs are been claimed for. I certainly didn't realise just what a good job the lib dems had done in keeping this bunch of crazies in check. Emigrating to another country has never seemed more appealing....

If your planning on taking the kid with you just make sure what ever you buy has space in the back for a child seat. UK law is currently kids have to be in child seats till 12 or 135cm, there's also talk a new law mandating kids stay in rear ward facing car seats till at least 15 months. Also don't forget to take account of baby sick/poo on the interior....There's a reason why we're keeping the child seat in the lease car that is going to be handed back to the dealer

Speaking of Apple, I didn't even realise Apple had launched a new iPhone that went on sale last Friday. Maybe some of those people queing up for a Model 3 pre-order accidently got in the wrong line and ended up putting $1000 on a car rather than a new phone http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/31/iphone-se-launch-overshadowed-by-tesla/

^^ I thought you are one of the people who have an Apple Watch I'm not sure what 'marketing' your talking about, incase you haven't noticed Tesla haven't spent a single $ on adverts unlike say BMW/Apple. You should know as much as anyone how much share prices have got nothing to do with anything. Remember the critics of the original iPod, iPhone, even when Apple dropped the floppy disc drive and replace it with a USB port?? Progress is about been brave enough to push past conventions. We can agree to disagree for as long as we like, your right the Model 3 will be a rare sight on UK roads, for no reason other than it looks like the preorders in North American market alone has pretty much tied up Tesla's entire production runs on the Model 3 runs for first 18 months+. Hence I'm getting my self a S at Xmas this year, despite the fact the Model 3 is much better value for money. The final production car actually isn't going to be revealed till 2017, actually I woudlnt be susprised if pre-orders hit 1 million+ by than.....anyone know the record for number of pre-orders on a car??

The boot has two openings, it's a hatchback with a 'quick' access half open option. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/attachments/image-jpeg.170248/ So are you thinking of ordering?? Better get a move on pre-orders now at 230k, pretty soon the waiting list is going to be well over 12 month long...I woudlnt be able to help you queue jump when I order my S, only one priority 3 order per S/X, and my wife+my father in law both want one

Ok am sold. $35,000 starting price excluding any grants, minimal 215 mile range, and sub 6 second 0-60 time. All glass roof. Autopilot hardware standard. Still I cannot wait till 2019, and with 100k of pre-orders even before the car was shown off, it might not be till 2020 we finally get UK cars. I reckon US pre-orders alone is going to top 200k, which will keep Tesla busy for 2018-19 before they can even start to look at other markets. I will however be pre-ordering at the same time as I order a S. This should allow me to jump ahead of all those people who have ordered in the UK but don't own a Model S/X. Wife's car will be 5 years old in 2020, perfect time to replace it with a maxed out 3 .
-
North American pre-orders now open. Plenty of people seem to be happy to put down, $1000 on a car they have never seen or even know the price of!! Any car manfacutre in the US not working on getting a Model 3 competitor out of the door must be feeling rather nervous now, clearly the 'mass market' in the US is more than ready to dump combustion cars for an 200 mile range 'affordable' EV...I hope the sales team at that Mercedes dealer is reporting back to head office
-
Actually I have little interest in the 3, its going to be slower, less range, less toys than the S, and wouldn't be in the UK till 2019, the cheaper asking price doesn't factor in my purchase decision.....My only wish is it will help drive higher deprecation on the S. Why get excited about a 318i when you can have a M5 .

I'll be honest, as someone who's about to enter a life of no-sleep, nappies, paw-patrol, I cannot wait for all my friends who haven't yet had kids to join in the party....For no other reason so more of us can enjoy sharing the 'joyful' pleasures of bringing up children I'm excited though, but cannot honestly say there is a logical reason for it!!! - We're both fully accepting that we'll loss of freedom interms of traveling, having said that apparently 3 month old a easy to travel with because they cannot move. So can see a good excuse for a long haul flight coming up .

A Tesla for £12k? As if Elon would ever let his not-yet-invented-but-widely-promised-to-revolutionise-the-galaxy-tech fall to such obtainable levels... Been looking at the specs of the potential model I'm think of going for.....No change from £70K, and prices are going up another 4% in April (they've already gone up 8% in the last 6 month) +/- another price increase when the 100kWh battery upgrade comes . On the flip side £12K is a stupid amount of money to spend on a Leaf. So as much as I know how much some of you guys love EVs, theres nothing on the market at that kind of price bracket.

Good call on not been rushed by the dealer. You can nearly always get finance cheaper else where. Selling privately isn't that hard, I've sold my modified 335i, wife's Civic, and in-laws Mini all privately in the last 12 months, and got about 20% than what we were been offered PX/WBAC. Do look at the RS though. There will be a waiting list, if for no other reason just look at the used prices of a 5/6 years old Focus RS versus a 5/6 years old Civic Type R. One still fetches £20k, the other less than £10k. In your situation of looking at a new Type R Vs RS at the same price, I know which one car I would go for.

Re mortgaging currently the most 'sensible' way to buy a car??
gangzoom replied to gangzoom's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I think this is my plan 'B'. I can get 3.3% via Halifax, so happy to pay an extra 0.3% interest for the 'safety' if having cash in the bank. Still the rate at which the £ is deprecating against the $, and the EU vote, might be better off spending the £ whilst it still has some value. -

I'm lucky enough to have a very stable job, with a very predictable income. I simply look at where I want to be in life 5 years down the line, look at costs involved getting there, and if achievable, knuckle down and get on with it. Occasionally things throw you off...I was saving up for a F10 M5, but we all know that's not going to happen -
Just want to check am not going mad.... Coming up to the end of our last 5 year financial plan, and working out what next for the next 5 years. Original plan was to clear the mortgage with savings, buy a Tesla with money currently in Santander 1-2-3 accounts, and than move to a bigger house after 2020 (or leave the UK). But out of interest I had a quick look at re-mortgage rates...1.5% fixed for 2 years with NO product fee. Even a 5 year fixed is only 2.4% with no fee.....IF Santander keeps the 1-2-3 account going at 3%, over 5 years we'll get back £6k. which more than covers the interest rate payments on a 5 year fixed. I've never been a fan of debt, but the way interests rates are now surely it makes no sense to buy a car out right with cash when if your a home owner you can get a loan at 1.5%. Clearly you have to make sure you pay the additional mortgage debt off at any sign of rising interest rates, but as long as your saving are earning your more interest than what your mortgage is costing you, it makes no sense to clear the debt?? It really is a bizarre financial world we are currently living in!!
-
Have to say I agree with you....But the current financial situation is bizarre. For my personal situation the car fund is sitting in a few Santander 1-2-3 accounts. With the latest change in tax laws we should now be getting £120/month (3% APR) back from Santander for doing nothing more than having money in their 1-2-3 accounts. The Halifax PCP/HP car finance product offer APR as low as 3.3%. So yes, buy buying cash I saved 0.3% interest payments, but on the grand scale of things, not having to commit £50k+ into a car but instead been able to keep the majority of the money in hand feels a bit better. That's before you look at mortgage rates, a 2 year fixed is current 1.5% APR, even a 5 year fixed is only 2%. My initial plan was to clear the mortgage next year, but right now I'm not sure why I would bother. You can get 2.5% APR in a fixed ISA for 5 years, which means it makes no sense to pay the mortgage off early, the same amount of money would earn more interest in a 5 year ISA. In a way its quite scary how cheap finance is now, its all bankrolled by central banks essentially printing fake/non-existent currency.....Some one, some day is going to have to pay for it all.
-
The Halifax product works for used cars too. But I think there are a lot of conditions regarding age, miles cap etc. Probably will work for a R8, I assume the reisdules are half decent?

Similar to what happens when you take an exogenous substance that binds to opioid mu receptors?? I do know what your talking about, I'm very excited about the imminent arrival of our sprog. I'm going to do my best to raise her, give her the best start in life etc.....But there is no logical reason why I'm feeling so happy. The bond between a parent and child is nothing more than an evolution trait, just like a moth is attracted to fire, and a salmon will swim up river to lay eggs than die. I don't judge other people because they have enough will power to ignore the inherent reproductive need built into our DNA. So what gives you a right to pass judgement on what other people choose to do with their lives??
