The Toyota hybrid system is far more reliable than any turbo engine. There is a reason why every other minicab you see is a prius. And in the US there countless companies that will refurb the battery pack for $500 dollars.

Am sure a Cayenne would drive better, but your talking about a SUV, and no one does comfort better than Lexus. The 450h is best selling car Lexus do, and the single reason why Lexus is level pegging with BMW and Mercedes in terms of sales in the US. Also don't forget about reliability, Lexus is basically Toyota, the cars just dont break, the 450h is as likely to break down as a Priuis. I have no idea how reliable a $10k Porsche of any kind is.

Lexus RX hybrid. Pretty cheap these days, lasts for ages, V6 is very nice and in the US size isn't a issue. Forget about handling, if your in NYC its comfort in traffic jams that you need.

Don't forget carried out countless massacres of civillians in the far east and africa. Drew up boarders that meant nothing to the people on the ground resulting in years of conflict. Stole valuables from around the world and still refuse to give them back. Trust me the 'empire' is hardly seen as a good thing in most parts of the world. Especially in places in India and China. Look up the partition of india, the opium wars, and the boer wars. 2 million people died in India as a direct result of British rule, the British fought to legalise opium trade in China for the sake of increasing profit for the empire which left millions addicted to heroine, and now the British want far east countries to invest in the UK....Good luck with that.

Well N54 hasn't show like a reliable engine at all. Hope with N55 is different story Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk The N54 block was/is unbreakable, it was all the stuff connected to it, turbos, oil/water pumps, seals etc

Lovely looking car. Looks like BMW x35i are fast become in the nature upgrade path for Z owners . Can see why, the N54/55 unit is about as good as it gets for the internal combustion engine.

Good GPs should be prescribing pain killer according to the analgesic ladder. Its actually very hard to get addicted to opiates for pain relief. Go back and make a fuss, people who moan the loudest often get what they want quickest.

Got various documents through about the car today, had a quick look a the FAQ, couldn't quite believe my eyes when I got to the servicing section, had to do a double take to make sure the wording wasn't mixed up!! I cannot see BMW/Merc/Audi or even Nissan ever writing this in their warranty documents, quite the opposite. I knew Tesla wrote this on their website but I didn't think they would be stupid enough to supply in writing as part of the contract/invoice. I'm still not sure what to make of it, the official Tesla servicing pack costs £3.5K for 8 years. The only service items are brake fluid change every 2 year (Mitz hope your up for it!!) and a battery coolant service at 4 years with Tesla for £800. But I cannot see any incentive to take the car to Tesla for servicing when their own documents states the warranty cover wouldn't be affected .

The size difference is very noticeable as well as weight. With a small 'walk around' lens my EM-5 can be carried so much easier than my old 550d. Even with the f2.8 'pro' lens its lighter and smaller than the 550D. I had originally wanted to keep the 550d along side the EM-5, but the EM-5 is so good I've now sold all my old gear. These mirrorless systems are not bridge cameras, they are now at a point where they match/beat the performance of APS sensor cameras, with the added advantage of noticeably cheaper lens.
-
Believe it or not they are all JPEGs straight our of the camera!! No post processing at all. If you haven't tried the electronic view finder on the Olympus systems your be surprised at how good they are. I could have never got this shot with my old 550D and optical view finder, even if i tried I would be blind in one eye now . But the EM-5 focused on the helicopter with no issues, despite the sun been directly behind.
-
I never tried the Sony stuff, but the EM-5 had great reviews that pushed me to go for the Olympus system. Either way I think your be surprised at just how good the mirrorless systems are now, I know I was.

I traded in my 550D for a Olympus EM-5 Mark II. Love it, it's focuses just as quickly as my old 550D, better high ISO performance, lots more extra (wifi, touch screen etc), all in a package that whole lot smaller. Lens are cheaper too, picked up a Olympys 12-40mm (24-80mm 35mm equivalent) f2.8 Pro lens for half the price of a Cannon 'L' lens. Sorry about the subject matter but most snaps these days are of one thing . Both f2.8

But I bet your would loss £0 in deprecation over the next few years...Especially given the way the £ is dropping. The net cost over 3 years will certainly be cheaper than what I've just done (brand new Tesla Model S order). Given the likely fall of interest rates to 0%, who knows, a McL might well turn out to be the best investment you can make. -
So the driver was probably watching a film at the time of the crash....Tragic error of judgement, but hopefully others will wake up (literally) to the limits of the tech. https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/01/police-confirm-dvd-player-found-in-tesla-autopilot-wreck/

I see it the other way round, when petrol cars become a weekend hobby like horse riding I might finally look into a DC2 Teg

We can argue about autonomy as much as we like but just like EVs its coming like it or not. In addition to Tesla. Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Apple, Google are all developing the tech. AI systems when using fuzzy logic can now pilot military jets better than humans, piloting a car is rather simple in comparison. The current autopilot tech is no where near whats needed for full autonomy, both interms of hardware and software. http://www.popsci.com/ai-pilot-beats-air-combat-expert-in-dogfight But ethical and legal issues will need to be addressed if we do start allowing machines that can make autonomous decisions onto our roads, the situation of if a crash is unavoidable but do I crash into a school bus or a brick wall will come up. Still I can see the day when humans are banned from driving on M-ways, which given the awful state of driving I sometimes see wouldn't be a bad thing.

Summary: People (Including ones that can afford a $75k car) = Idiots.

Rumours the driver was fully distracted at the time so probably didn't see the truck at all, they had essentially put their life in the hands of some very immature software. Autopilot didn't see it either due to a mixture of lighting conditions and the fact American trailers are 'empty' at passengers car level. So I suspect the crash happened at full speed with no braking at all, and therefore the sad outcome. As far as am concerned Autopilot has been used by Tesla as a massive sales pitch, and its certainly done the job, in reality its no more advanced than the hardware in my wife's Lexus, expect Tesla are pushing the software implementation much more. The hardware was never designed to be used in the way some Tesla drivers are, ie:fully autonomy. I'm most certainly not buying a Model S because of Autopilot. If Tesla gave me the option to delete the hardware in return for a cheaper list price I would galdly take them up on that option.

This is the accident diagram from the police Its all speculation what happened, maybe the driver wasn't paying attention because they assumed autopilot would 'see' the turning lorry (which it didn't) and brake. Maybe the lorry driver turned at the last minute. Even if Autopilot didn't brake why didn't the driver brake, or did they realise too late what was going on?? No one knows yet. The sad thing is the same driver posted a YouTube video of his car avoiding a crash with lorry a few weeks ago. Regardless of what happened I see Autopilot as a very much a reactive system, which is OK for emergency situations but most of the time when we are driving we are anticipating what other road users might do, this is something Autopilot cannot do, and will never be able to do till AI systems start using 'fuzzy logic'. I haven't ordered Autopilot on my Model S order and I doubt I'll ever activate it. Blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking is more than enough autonomy for me.

All the stuff we are seeing now wouldn't be felt for another 6 months. Q4 2016, Q1 2017 is when we will start seeing the real effects of reduced investment, changes in cost of living etc. I hope we dont see it but i think everyone in the UK is heading for a drop in quality of life.

To play devil's advocate, any US company eyeing up property just got a near 15% reduction before taking into account stamp duty etc. Why would they do this, the property market as it is was already a bubble waiting to go pop. No real increases in wages but house prices going up 5-10% year?? The current housing market is propped up by low interest rates and people taking on extra debt. There is real potential now for another financial @*!# storm, only this time itll make 2008 look like a sunny Sunday walk in the park.

^^ The markets will do what they want, what will be really worrying is if big companies really do stop spending money in the UK. Around here out side Derby there is a massive Toyota factory, most of what they makes goes to Europe. Toyota also have factories all over Europe, so the real test will be where companies like Toyota choose to make their next model. If these big companies decide for what ever reason not to keep on investing in the UK the consequences don't even bare thinking about.

£ is continuing to drop against the $, food/fuel costs are guaranteed to start going up, a total lack of leadership at central government on what to do next, there isn't even a creditable opposition party to take over, various parts of the country talking about breaking up the union, the next 6 months isn't going to be fun for anyone. I do wonder just which multinational company will want to commit future investments to the UK now, there is both financial and political uncertainty at a level I suspect no one has seen before. Boris has played a blinder interms of getting into the job he was after, but I suspect he may end up doing a Gordon Brown, regardless of how people voted if pay starts going down, jobs been lost, cost of living goes up his political career is also finished.
