Charity workers also need to get paid... https://www.charityjob.co.uk/

It's not an electric car tax, it's the £40k+ car tax. The actual car is still £0 VED for year one and on wards, but because it costs over £40k you have to pay £310 a year for 5 years. Cannot really argue with that, if you can afford a £40k+ car you should be able to afford £310 a year on VED. Something similar in size and performance to the X, like a SQ7 will be £800 + £140 + £310 first year tax, than £450 per year for first 5 years than £140. So still alot more than the X, but again if you can afford a SQ7 (£70K list) even the first year £1250 of VED (1.7% of the list price) really shouldn't factor in the decision making process.

Given the asking price and my natural hatred of spending money convincing my self was the hardest bit . Have half thought about selling it on delivery, Tesla have been increasing prices since I had my order confirmed. The same spec car today costs about £15k more!! Add on the 6 months ish waiting list, the fact future orders will soon not come with free for life supercharging, and increased VED rate from £0 to £310 if taking delivery after April 2017, it may be the first appreciating car I've ever bought!!

We went to see the X in the showroom fully expecting to come away happy with the S, but once you sit in the back of both cars the difference is night and day. The S is like any normal saloon, really not that much room in the back, and once you add in a baby seat (or 2) there really is no room in the back. The X in comparison is so much bigger, not in just leg room but also head room. We went for the 6 seater option, essentially 90% of the time the car will be a very big and comfortable 4 seater. But when the grandparents come for the weekend the 3rd row seats is the killer feature. Infact because of all the space between the second row sets when you sit in the third row you have more leg room than even the driver......Yes I know it's all very boring/functional, but your priorities in life changes with kids. Another option is ofcourse to buy a S-Max (or similar) and another 'fun' car but these days I hardly have enough alone time to go and do a number 2 so forget about finding time to go for drive by myself. I know its going to be no Type R, but gull wing doors, massive panoramic windscreen, half decent turn of pace, and I can drive it as hard as I like with no worry about mpg/fuel cost etc. In that regard I'm really looking forwards to the X, certainly will make a change from the Leaf .

^^ If we didn't have a baby (with potentially more in the future) the S is absolutely the better choice, cheaper, quicker, more range, better reliability. BUT as a family wagon to carry the sprog + grandparents the X destroys the S interms of passenger space/comfort, and I know I much rather drive the X than something like this...... Still despite it's the main job of the X as a family wagon even our base spec version will apparently crack 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Now just have to wait for it be actually built, shipped from the US west cost to east by train, than on to a ship docking in Holland, another trip to get it into the UK, and than finally prepared for UK handover . http://www.motortren...st-test-review/

The car has now finally been assigned a VIN, so should be built by the end of the year.... It's finally starting to feel real .

Forget about USB etc, if you care about picture quality you need to get a OLED panel. They are getting cheaper too, 55inch panels are now only just over £1k, a few years ago the same tech cost £3k+.

Had carried on my prime subscription post free trial to see what GT was likr. The intro got me interested, but having just seen 3/4 of episode 2 I've cancelled the subscription. Better stuff on youTube these days for free.

But its all made up in the first place so why worry about a debt no one can enforce?? Trump clearly is just about to go on a spending spree in the US regardless of their national debt. Greece got single out but the reality is everyone is in the same boat, but no one wants to face the facts so its always easier just to bully the small guys. Every government in the world is in debt, the world 'bank' is just numbers in a computer, realistically what on earth is going to happen if every government defaults and stops paying back their national debt. Just about every country in the world have spent the last 6 years printing more money that's not backed by any real substance and everyone is happy with that idea, but at some stage someone is going to have to call the whole thing off. Maybe Trump might actually have the balls to do something about the whole charade.

Anyone else prefer the look of the original NSX
gangzoom replied to HEADPHONES's topic in Other Cars
The new one is what £150K ish? It's alot of cash but an i8 is over £100K before options and you can spec a 'P' version of any Tesla to £130K+ without too much trouble. I've seen more than a few i8s and maxed out Tesla's around so there are plenty of people around who can wave that kind of cash at a car. The tech in it is mad, it's basically a slight slower P1/LeFerrari but for a whole lot less cash. There is a thread on here about a £40K 3 series, I would say a NSX is easily x4 better than any 3 series. -
That's nothing compared to US debt. http://www.usdebtclock.org/ The whole world economy is basically based on lies, in the old days if the gold run out you couldn't do bugger all. These days you just print more fake money. Every one is in debt to each other, but its ok as long as no one think about it too hard none of it matters.

^Netflix now seem to have every episode of StarTrek ever made bar Enterprise. Currently half way through season 9 on Voyager.

How do you take the family shopping in a Z?? How much luggage can you take with you on a family holiday?? As sad as that may sound when you get older these are things that matter alot more than a V6 etc. I'm pretty sure no one would voluntary drive around in a S-Max or similar, but with other responsibilities in lifes cars often take a back step. As someone getting older I'm just glad I've got the disposable income to avoid the need to have something like a S-Max parked up on the drive. *I have no hatred of the S-Max, but the thought of having to drive any MPV/van with seats/windows equally fills me with dred. At least thats how I justify spending so much on an SUV

Checked for you. £40k loan 3 years £15k deposit £356/month Final payment of £15k Total APR 4.4% So actually with a big enough deposit you can get a monthly payment the same as 320d Car however cannot be more than 7 years old at the end of the term.

The cost of alot of 'normal' cars heading up towards the £40k mark. I'm not sure if this is just marketing rubbish, so that when you get a £10k 'discount' you feel better, or if its ture price inflation. Certainly manufacture PCP rates are always heavily discounted on something like a 320d, the reason you can lease one for £300/month if because of all the discounts thrown into the deal. Its the same situation as my Leaf, list price is £30k but close to £15k worth of discounts thrown into the PCP deal in order to get to a stupid £200/month figure. Used cars have and always will be cheaper than new, most cars drop 50% in value after 3 years so that's nothing new. So you cannot really compare like for like. The cheapest loans at the moment are mortgages, fixed 2 year deals are <1.5% APR. Or get a unsecured personal loan, £40k over 5 years is about £700/month. Raking up personal debt of £40k any car is probably not the best financial idea also don't forget the running costs. Still I'm sure ive been heard some forum memebers on here say they don't care about mpg/running costs/general expense of any cars, if that's the case than just go for it .

i think you might find the celeb bit was a pisstake I did, but it would have been better if they just didn't bother at all with it, let hope they don't bother with that waste of time segment in later episodes.
-
You can do a 30 day trial with prime. Amazon prime video only is £5.99/month, the interface is rubbish compared to Netflix but I kept the video bit going just to see what the show was like. The car bits looked good, sadly they still kept the stupid celebrity section. Apparently Amazon spent £4.5/million per episode, Clarkson must have wished he got sacked from the BBC sooner!!

Was all set to get a XJ supersport before I got infested by the EV bug and ended up in a Leaf!! Got to have a Jag on the driveway at some point, the i-pace looks stunning and a serious rival to Tesla, unlike the Audi e-Tron which looks just like a Q7. Put my name down already as potential buyer but their website state late 2018 delivery so will go ahead with the Tesla, but will be keeping a very close eye on what the final production car lools like. Great to see Jag come up with a compelling EV in a relative short timeframe:).
-
Jag have just announced their Battery EV SUV, due in less than 18 months time, 400bhp, 220miles of range, full 5 seater, smaller than F-Pace. I excepted something good from Jag but not so soon or so attractive (18 month to delivery??). According to piston heads, price 10-15% above equivalent F-pace. The closest F-pace with similar performance is £53K before options, so say £63K with a few options, and on 10-15% your looking at £70K mark, its a whole wedge of money but bang on what the Model X costs. Bugger...Maybe I jumped the gun with the Model X order, really really want one of these over any Tesla. Really tempted now to cancel the Tesla order - take the £2K hit, get a cheap used Leaf/Zoe/i3 to bridge the 12 months gap before the i-Pace hit production. Cannot say I disagree. Hillary Clinton is no better than Trump, and represented every thing wrong with 'democracy' as it stands, so something needed to change. All we need now is the mass realisation the whole global banking/finance sector is built on a loans/lies/greed. Time to build a underground bunker me thinks .

With current interest rates of below 1.5% for many mortgage products a £80k mortgage debt over 25 years only incur interest payments of £15k. Inflation over the same time period will probably mean realistically the value of the debt will be dropping year on year. Currently I wouldn't bother clearing £80k off the mortgage, if you have to spend it use it to do £80k worth of renovation to the house. Your likely add more value compared to the savings made by not paying interest. Ofcourse in 12-24months times things could be different, but currently monetary policy is to make us stop saving and spend. With the whole housing market now dependent/use to loe interest rates I cannot see that changing anytime soon.
-
Why resist they are good cars, go for it.
-
We are in for a interesting few years, inflation going up due to a weak pound, no real term rise in wages for the last decade, interest rates already 0%, and a housing market that seems rather overpriced and driven by cheap mortgages... The crash in 2008 is going to seem like a holiday. Back in 2007 when the GTR first appeared the £ to $ rate was 1:2!! Come 2017 many predict it'll be close to 1:1.1. Current US $ price for the GTR in basic trim is around $100K, so £80K is actually pretty in line with current currency rates. Most UK prices haven't yet been adjusted for the recent drop in the value of the £, once they do I think people are going be really shocked at how much more expensive alot of stuff is going to become.
-
I don't think many people can really understand what you've been through on that front, I certainly cannot even begin to imagine what life would be like without my parents. But you've come through that, and getting on with life, and I suspect coping with it alot better than some others.... As for married with kids, let me run you through my last 24hrs. Up at 4am to settle the baby, up at 530am to feed the baby and wash up baby stuff, till 8am me and the wife take turns to look after baby whilst other does fun stuff like sort out unload washine machine etc. Go to work at 830am, come home at 930pm(Yes I know its the weekend). In bed by 10pm, up at 1130pm because baby crying. Today will be a repeat. Want to play video games - forget it, want to to go for a drive - forget it, go to the gym - forget it, want to sit down for 5 minutes and do nothing - forget it. As someone else have said look at the positives in your life, been single and not tied down means you can do anything you want when you want!! So use that time to do something you really wanted before you do end up tied down like all your firends.
