    Fairlady badge

Given the apparent popularity of being proud of the 'Fairlady' badging does anyone want my 'Fairlady Z' letters that I have just removed??? Can't bring myself to throw them away and certainly can't charge for them!

    Fairlady badge

Thanks, front Z badge now fitted and looking good!
  9. Those wheels would look great on my black roadster-what did you quote big Phil?
  10. Not sure how they worked the additional premium out but as you can only use your NCB on one car my second car insurance was going to be well over £600 if I insured it separately. With Admiral it was only approx £300 extra so in effect did mirror the 65% NCB I had.

    Fairlady badge

Just spent two hours getting rid of the Fairlady badge and replacing the rear Nissan badge with a Z. No real problem removing letters and badge with hairdryer and floss but getting the 'glue' completely off was hellish. Just rub the residue with your fingers I was told - resulting in blistered index fingers and thumb! Eventually got it all off using sticky stuff remover, white spirit and T-cut as well as a scraper. Then went to have a look at the front badge to realise that it's actually set into an indentation and I cannot got the floss behind it - any ideas or tips for taking the front Nissan badge off?? Don't ask me why - just tell me how please!!
  12. I got quoted £680 by Admiral for my 05 import with 6 years no claim but I am twice your age which could be relevant! I insure it with them on a multicar insurance for a total of £920 which was less than many were quoting me on the Z alone. I started with confused.com which at least gives you some idea of what to aim for.
  13. I'm 21 - my dad was keen on vintage models - and he liked old cars too!
  14. right lets see if that works!! Keeping the car theme for the test - that's my mum with the first family car in about 1958 I think - sadly I can remember it - but only just - pyschologists amongst you may well now discuss why I may have bought a Z!
  15. saving the decent pics of it for when some bugger tells me what I am doing wrong!!!
  16. Pics will be posted when I can work out how to do it! I am actually IT literate but can't work this out. I have set up a photobox album and saved some fotos to there in a public album. I clicked on image and then copied and pasted the relevant photobox foto link inbetween that didnt work last time
  17. Well I have done it and now own an 05 import Black 350 Roadster and an 03 BMW 330 Convertible, driven both today and the BM will def be going!! Nearly all fell through though so I was glad I didn't do a Nixy countdown as it could have been a bit embarrassing. I cocked up the 'bridging' loan I needed as I didn't get both account signatories on the forms on Friday so ended up scrabbling about with credit cards and savings and walking out the bank with £19,000 cash in a brown envelope! Had arranged a drink with a friend and spent the evening staring out of the window at a £20k car with £20k cash in it wondering how the hell I would explain financial ruin if it got nicked - but in south london it was safer there than in the pub!! On the journey up to Northallerton even the grannies on the flying scotsman looked potential muggers - I have never held a bag so tightly. Arrived at JC Imports to see the car outside looking even better in the flesh. Had a good look around and took it for a drive through the flooded North Yorks countryside with the roof down - i was sold and wouldnt be clutching that damn cash all the way back home again. The cash was counted - thank god it was all there as I gave up counting in the bank for fear of being mugged before I had even got out of the door. The A5 was only a mile away so I was soon testing whether the delimiting had been carried out - it had!!! I then realised, perhaps a little late, that I hadn't confirmed the insurance following a couple of quotes I had got. RAC at £650 was the best although I am still trying to knock Churchill down a bit more towards that figure. The 250 miles back home was a great test for the car's capabilities, it is in absolutely stunning condition and although has done 7k miles it looks, feels and smells brand new - with JC Imports providing a year's warranty through Warranty Works I don't think I can really go wrong. Took me 20 minutes to get it in the garage - well it took me 5 to get it in but another 15 to work out how to get it in so that I could get out! Eventually sorted it and slept soundly. Today was an opportunity to show it off, it became evident that this car will get far more looks and interest than the BM. That is an auto, I haven't owned a manual car for 10 years, Sarnie convinced me to go geared with the Z and he was right - so much more responsive and immediate and easy, natural changing. Well impressed that despite 6 gears there is not excessive gear changing - it drives quite happily at lower speeds in 5th and didn't really use 3/4 when changing down, not sure if that is advisable? Athough I love the BM this is a different experience again and I am so pleased I made the decision, would like to keep both but as I am about to buy a cheap estate to cart stuff around I can't really justify 3 cars!! Hope I won't be boring you with idiot questions but without a drivers manual I have no idea about some of the controls - eg. what's the little switch to the right of the instrument panel for?? I will post some pics asap but failed miserably last time so need pointing to a guide, I have signed up to photobox. I'm already working out what I can change/add but need to move my sat nav out of the bm into the Z first. Thanks to everyone who regularly contribute to this site, your enthusiasm and knowledge has converted another!!!

    Am I mad?

I was specifically after a black roadster and found it really hard to locate one with low mileage and nearly new, this one has just been imported and I am waiting for the SVA to be sorted next week. I realise that it would be of less resale value than the equivalent UK model but there again is probably cheaper to purchase. Are you saying that it will depreciate faster than a UK model?? Given its rarity (as opposed to say Sunset Bronze) I am not so sure.

    Am I mad?

You are all right about the 'common' touch, living in Sarf Larndon it's full of silver 3 series convertibles, I have yet to see a Roadster in months of looking and about 4/5 350's in total - so that is definitely one of the attractions especially they look so good. The BM is built well and being a straight 6 auto is incredibly smooth but................... when I floored the test drive 350 on the one dual carriageway in Croydon (sorry Ancaster I had to do it!) I just knew I had to have one!! Bit worried about the crap build quality comment - I've not come across that before - what is others experience?

    Am I mad?

I am about to purchase this black 05 Roadster, with some really helpful advice from Sarnie, and sell my 03 BMW 330Ci Convertible. My partner says I am mad and it won't be as good as the BMW. I've had a long test drive and really like the 350Z and cannot be otherwise persuaded. Anyone else think I am mad??? Hopefully the two cars should be shown - bit of guesswork with placing them there as I can't find any 'help' on inserting images. Hopefully someone will put me right!
  21. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/04-Nissan-350Z_W0 ... dZViewItem Second time I have seen a similar ad on ebay, I emailed the last seller got no reply then had a warning from ebay about my communication! I would stay well clear!!!!
  22. Seem to have stirred something here! I have read lots of info about imported Zs and never come across the 'most are damaged' view beforehand. I will only consider a Grade 5 car and have struggled to locate a black Roadster with so few miles in the UK . The importer states that the mileage is genuine and service history and full documentation is available. Any deposit I make is refundable on viewing too. Given all that I thought there was minimal risk with all the checks that are made, perhaps even less than if I buy privately in the UK ?! Thanks for the link to the Gurnsey importers, would they supply to the mainland? I have submitted my requirements to 2 other importers neither of whom have responded!! For info I am after a Roadster, Grade 5, low miles, Black or Azure with a decent spec. Not 100% sure about semi auto or manual as I can't locate a semi auto to test drive locally. I did test drive a Coupe for the day from the local Nissan dealer but living in South London there's a hell of a lot of gear changing in a 6 gear car with all the traffic. I currently have an 03 BMW 330 auto which is easy to drive and really smooth but lacks the instant kick the manual 350 gave me!! It does have a 'manual' option but I don't use it as I lose track of which gear I am in unless I look at the dash. Right, back to the interweb!!
  23. I've located a roadster which has just entered the UK. Black with black leather, elec seats, 17 inch alloys, cd player air con. 3,000 miles. The importer is asking £18,995 on the road including CAT 1 alarm, plates underseal, oil change. Any comments from more experienced members?? Any more questions I should be asking? The dealer has a good reputation. Thanks Paul
