  1. Just get loads of releasing oil on the bolts so we don't round them off or shear them! Do you have use of another car while yours is off the road (ie are we in a major rush to get this done)? Also, what bits need replacing in all? Do you have stands/jacks etc and anywhere warm and dry to do this?
  2. At least that means it shouldn't take that long..... Just hope we can get all the bolts undone!
  3. Cheers for the tip! I'll get in touch with them.
  4. 1. Scott (bacon butties and coffee) 2. Lincolnbaggie (spanners) 3. Shaun1982 (hanging around aimlessly, stuffing face with butties) 4.
  5. You can help Scott with the coffee and bacon and give us encouragement Let's get a list going 1. Scott (bacon butties) 2. Lincolnbaggie (spanners) 3. Shaun1982 (coffee) 4.
  6. Hate to say it, but mine is as quiet as can be even on freezing mornings at start-up, so not sure it's normal....
  7. Here is the service checklist. The additional items are ringed in blue and are not part of the general service. You'll also notice the only difference between the P2 and P3 items is the diff oil (ringed in red) that doesn't need doing as we have a viscous coupling, so no difference between a P2 and a P3 as far as the 350 is concerned (apart from the robbing stealer's price)
  8. Some dealers "may" do the brake fluid as part of a P3, but strictly it is an additional service item at additional cost due every 2 years or 27,000 miles (whichever comes sooner) rather than with any specific service. Ditto the coolant (every 3 years/36,000 miles). Page 19 in your service/warranty book will reveal all
  9. There is no pollen filter. Coolant and brake fluid are additional items over normal service cost, so the quote will contain about £100 for those two bits. Diff and gearbox oil don't need changing on the 350 (but some do just to be safe), and again aren't part of the service quote so another £50-£100 will be for that. If you can get the whole lot done for £300 you're doing well as the actual "service" part will only be a round £150!
  10. Maybe I could fit a VQ engine and gearbox in the X-Trail instead of the oil burner?
  11. You need to slacken off the handbrake shoes first. There is a small plug which is removed, then slacken off the adjuster inside with a screwdriver.
  12. Yes, I know this is a 350 forum , but I need a gearbox for my X-Trail and wondered if anyone knew of one for sale (new or second-hand/refurbed, not bothered). It's a six-speed manual box for an early 2005/54 plate 2.2 DCi Sport. Anybody?
  13. Sounds like a mini-meet at Scott's. Anyone fancy lending a hand to get him sorted? I'll be there
  14. According to the manual (page 2-13) the seat lifter is either Type A (one knob) or Type B (two knobs), but no explanation what the difference is
  15. OP was asking about the adjustment knobs on the door side of the seat, not the switches....
  16. Mine's a 53 plate UK GT and I only have one for lumbar support. Other if there is for angle adjustment but we have a switch for that! Maybe it's roadster's don't have electronic tilt because of the roof opening or something and hence two knobs?
  17. IMHO I think it might be underpriced and people assume it's going to be a poor example so aren't bothering to contact you. Maybe re-advertise at a slightly higher price and see if that gets any response? Personally I'd be in like a shot if I needed another one................
  18. Farily easy to remove the washer bottle - bumper off and it's held on by a couple of bolts and an electrical connector. You'll have to fiddle with the pipework as well so that the other side doesn't empty itself every time you fill up. I removed my headlight washers by unplugging the motor connector but left the bottle connected (both sides connected only to the windscreen).
  19. Fluid seems fine - 90% of it is original and hasn't changed appearance. Once this weather improves I'm going to try it with the OEM reservoir back on and see if that solves the problem - at least I'll have an idea if it's just an air-lock or something more serious......
  20. Went a couple of years ago with a couple of others and had a brill weekend. Sailed over Friday night from Hull, go to the Ring Sat lunchtime. Did a few laps Sat pm, some more Sun am and came back overnight Sunday. Lovely place to visit even if you don't want to drive the 'ring - great scenery and some impressive machines always there. Only boring bit is the drive from the ferry port to the ring and back; quickest way is not the most impressive visually, but it's only a few hours steady drive. Can't remember costs, but the hotel wasn't stupidly expensive, ferry was reasonable and I didn't use that much petrol (about three tanks all told I think). I'd definitely be up for another visit at some point. For general info on the ring, check out http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/
  21. noob! What car you got? Whatever it is will need spacers and lowering
  22. I'm quite liking that - better than the 350 ragtop I think (sorry to everyone with one of those ) Not much rear-view with the roof up I wouldn't think.
