Imagine...350z with 4.0l engine, 4WD Twin Turbo...

Well ... it is funny you mention that, because the Nissan Titan in US has a V8 5.6 but only makes 305 bhp so not really worth the extra cylinders... -
BLACK ZED PARKED AND LOOKING WELL MEAN.....
Zzzz... replied to Zzzz...'s topic in Spotted or Flyered
I guess this is going to be a bit of a silly question... has anyone in the forum contacted NMGB to ask if we could wangle a press car demo ( for example a novidem supercharged 350z... ) ? The argument would be to carry out "an enthusiasts evaluation" , maybe comparing it to the normal thing, and some of the more highly modified beasts in this forum? ( maybe Nissan would be shown off by some of the cars out there? ) We could post some data on the forum, publicise the Zed, spam email all our friends...telling them how good Nissan UK is etc... I mean if they let Duncan from "blue" in it http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z11743/default.aspx surely they could loan it to us.... -
I AM BACK !!! THANKS AGAIN , can i get the postings of GaelicZ into my Zzzz... ( only joking ) ( I am glad to see there are other non-techie types around )

COULD THIS BE THE SPOT AND FLYERING OF THE YEAR? SPOTTED IN A CAR PARK NEAR MILLBROOK...I HAD TO PARK MY CAR NEXT TO IT FOR THE PHOTO... NOT ONLY THAT BUT.... I PUT ONE OF YOUR FLYERS... SO IF NISSAN PRESS OFFICE DECIDE TO JOIN THE FORUM... IT IS MY FAULT...

ebay is contractually binding..get in there before they go !!! at least they'll be good for playing around and thrashing some old tyres on a track... Since I replaced my Bridgestones with Michelins, I have 4 half worn tyres in my garage waiting for cheap alloys to use for track/drift etc... If I can find the pound coins behind the sofa I'll try and get them Plus the are only 15 minutes down the road, so I might be able to save on transport cost!

Only the driven wheels. Keep the car below 40kph and ensure it is properly fitted, otherwise you'll rip the wheelarches, braketubes, fuel fillerer tube... I'll be interested too hear how you get along. (maybe some pictures?)

Winter Driving - Could Autosock be a good idea???
Zzzz... replied to Zzzz...'s topic in 350Z Technical
3 years ago approximately we had a nice snow fall while I was at work and took me 5 hours to cross milton keyns and 2hours more to get to Banbury that night... (normally it is a 30-45 minute drive) And I saw a load of RR wheel drive cars struggling and sliding and using kerbs to slow them down on hills etc... I would have paid twice the money for these things if they'd been available and got me home that night. It might be a one off and it might never happen, but if it does I hope they do "what it says on the tin", and get me home.... Anyway I think we are digressing from the main reason of this post...I was trying to find out if anyone had experience of using them...rather than justifying the reasons for my purchase -
-don't stack any cars this year... -make the zed at least 20kg lighter by getting the driver to loose one of the spare tyres it carries... and i am not talking about the one in the boot... - be more patient with people.

Winter Driving - Could Autosock be a good idea???

since when is English freaking weather predictable ... think of it the other way... how long have we managed to get away with with any bad weather? ... It will be sod's law that now that I am taking care of this "eventuality" nothing will happen... but i rather it this way, and be prepared "just in case" -

I though like you but see the following text from the website "Q3 What sort of conditions can I use them in? A3 They'll improve traction on any snow or ice - even in soft, deep snow, or in wet snow. It's recommended that you take them off when you get back to tarmac, although the reality is that they probably will be driven on tarmac during those intermittent tarmac / snow / tarmac / snow conditions experienced before leaving the snow for good. (The TÃœV test included 50 kilometres at 50 kph on dry tarmac. AutoSock passed this "Misuse test", but of course tarmac driving is not recommended as it increases fabric wear very considerably.) -

COOL I would be interested in hearing his opinion on these "socks..." let's hope he pick up on this thread... -
Hello and first of all let me wish y'all a prosperous and merry 2007... Maybe I'm been captain sensible again, but I just wanted to let you guys know about some "upgrade" I bought for my z, which I hope I will never have to use . But it seems such a good idea, simple and cost effective, that I had to have one just for the extra piece of mind it provides, specially as the z will be my transport all this winter... I see there are some Europe Mainland Drivers (Switzerland /Italy...) and maybe they have seen these in action and can comment on them more than me. (As I said, I never used them and I think for the 3-5 days of serious snow we get in UK I think they will be able to get me out of a sticky situation nicely...) I bought the same for my missus car. (each set cost me around 90 Euros in Spain...) I know it will not solve 90% of driving in UK winter... (small icy patches etc...but for those severe weather days... or if you get trapped miles away from home... it might become the best 90 EUROS spent Have a look and let me know your opinions... specially guys who have been driving in snow, winter conditions... www.autosock.com (blurb from the website...) The AutoSock is a newly developed tyre cover, aimed at increasing tire-to-road friction when driving cars on icy or snowy roads: Perfect temporary winter aid for vehicles.. Easy to mount and dismount even in cold and difficult weather. Comfortable while driving – maximum speed 50 km/h. Does not cause noise or vibrations. Light weight and easy to store. Self-centering. Reusable and machine washable. Environmental and recyclable. No damage to alloy wheels. Approved by TÜV and GS. Fits almost all passenger cars. Approved by leading car manufactures. Works on all vehicles with low clearance between the tyre and the body, as well as with all electronic safety systems (ESP, ABS). I might fit them this week to see how they look ... I am sure style was never a consideration for these things though.... PICS TO COME SOON...

I agree with all of you a car of this value and this reputation for quality should be covered with warranty no questions asked. I think the Nissan is controlling the dealers very tightly and checking every claim as they are independant and maybe in the past they have realised they got away with all sorts... This means that in some cases some dealers might have worse reputation than others in Nissan and they might be checking them a lot more... sounds like you dealer man did not put the claim through to N GB and tried to fob you off... maybe they have a lot hassle getting it through to N and try and avoid it... I was lead to believe that all these franchised dealers don't make money from selling ( ... well not that much) they make money on servicing and warranty (labour charges, and parts etc...) so the more vehicles they get in for jobs the more money they make... I think you got a bit of a duff dealer... The Bedford and Milton Keynes Dealers have been pretty good with me and my missus Micra...( yeah I know... ) Good luck, keep insisting I think you will get this one, now that N-UK have asked the dealer to re-submit the claim...

this gives you automatically 50mph on top of your vehicle top speed...

I am not defending Nissan Motors, but leather is a very tricky area, and as a natural material it is not as durable as other Synthetic materials. For example they have to treat the leather to ensure it can withstand Arizona Desert temperatures and Finland Winters! and UV rays and typical "spillages" (coke, water, coffee,etc...) as well as sweat, girly hand creams, oils etc...In theory you should not need to clean or touch leather other than with a damp cloth... But if you apply cleaning fluids (even down to basic soaps) there are many that will remove all the protective coatings and natural oils, and then it is easily degraded...failing at the higher stressed areas ( folds, creases etc...) So be careful what you report as cleaning materials...(NOTE how nissan and honda and other companies do NOT provide officially recognised leather treatment products...) abrasion is also a good reason to reject claims... do you wear rings? do they get caught near the edge of the handbrake... etc... regarding alloys no idea.. i've noticed the FR on mine are starting to flake a little bit and i think they have been already been resprayed once...maybe next upgrade after dampers set-up for UK roads... KIA are very good at warranty because they need to build the image...and break into the market... so paying out a bit of warranty is an acceptable marketing ploy... Nissan I think is trying to ensure they don't end up like Ford and GM bleeding money left right and centre so they control very tightly the faults the dealers claim for. PLus they are independant franchised dealers , and they will try and rip off N if they can! Maybe Kia dealers are run and controlled by the head office... (and breathe....... )

USER TIP ( from some one with 9 pts...) I find that little red light (gear change warning...) very usefull if correctly matched for 70-75mph and 5th gear... as if you go over this speed you'll get the red light on... very annoying but effective. (it is quite a low rpm , so when accelerating you'll see it very frequently... but once your are at cruising speed, it should be only when you break the speed limit you set yourself... Motorways and A-roads are spent preventing the red light going on.... this public service advice has been brought to you by Mr Captain Sensible...

Hello this is Mr Captain Sensible Here... Why upgarde and increase power? What will you gain? I am guessing and being very presumptious ( i think you spell it like this) , but i think the best performance upgrade you can make is to be able to utilise the current power output of this car...I bet you would not notice an extra 20bhp, and if you did you will not make so much use of it... UK roads are not that smooth and putting power down is already pretty "interesting".... There is nothing worse that being thrashed by a good driver in a ford mondeo 2.0 ... (not yet happened to me but no doubt it will...) and extra power will not help you, if anything, it will slow you down, or leave you in a ditch... , no amount of explanation of how much power you had will make things better.... Spend the money in driver training. There is nothing cooler than seeing a car like this being driven how it should be...and you can tell who's a driver and who's a fighter pilot ...and I bet you will be able to thrash even these highly tuned boys.... and if you can master this in the wet, even better... not only that, but think that in the future if you wanted, you could be the guy in the ford mondeo thrashing souped up zed's !!! Driver Training= Safety= Skill= Speed= R E S P E C T... This public advice notice was brought to you by the "mr. sensible society"

Can I ask , do we have recognised driving experts? (Not fighter pilots... please) , who have experience to judge different types of springs , setups etc... I am thinking about upgrades, but at the moment I am not sure where best to refer to. My current thoughts are to go along the lines of the Zed done by the boys at nissan (see max power report...the black one with the supercharger) They applied some Bilsteins Shocks. I am guessing that they are a sure bet they will have looked at all the options and finally chose these... Anyway , any experts or people with experience, please make yourself known... so that we can bombard you with questions...
