  1. Bloody typical. I am always on the look out for nice Zeds, of course, and the last 3 weeks I had some cash put aside because I knew there were two cars coming my way. Sadly they were both nails and I didn't buy them and then on Friday I bought 9 cars and blew my stash of cash...and then today I found a nice 54 plate Zed in Gunmetal with 19k on the clock The law of Sod strikes again ! There is never enough money in this job !!!
  2. Hmm, I can't quite get that into my head. I just sold a Monaro VXR and there was no comparison to a Zed, it would leave one standing. Unless maybe they are talking about a 5.7 ( 354 bhp ) and not a 6.0 ( 403 ). Very strange.
  3. Sorry for slow reply, been in Scotland buying cars. I try and make at least the local rounds every year, same with British Superbikes. The little lad loves it. I also try and see the classic stuff, it's great to see old Jags and Astons sliding about Oulton
  4. Just to let you all know it's at Oulton Park this weekend. See you there.
  5. Any big engined French car will be a contender for the quickest depreciating car on the road. It will be a bargain second hand but I can't see it coming with the full bore 350z motor because it will be front drive and torque steer will be horrendous. I reckon it will come with a tame version, 250bhp tops. I quite like French cars, they always ride very well and are comfortable on long trips but I really only buy the Diesels. The French are very good at Diesels, the petrols are decidedly average for the most part. Quite recently I had cause to make a long trip in a Laguna DCi Estate, I cruised at a steady 90 all day long and got 49 mpg. I was very comfortable all day and very impressed with the cars ride and composure at speed, a really superb car and good value second hand due to the market being flooded with fleet cars. I would go as far as to recommend a Laguna DCi to anyone who racks up mileage out of their own pocket, or as a company car choice. P.S. No, I haven't got one for sale just now
  6. I bought a Landcruiser this week which has Bluetooth built into it, I've had cars with this before but never really bothered trying to set it up but because the Landcruiser has it on the Touch Screen it was an absolute doddle to connect to. Now every time I get into the car it connects to my phone automatically and I can dial out on the Touch Screen ( or steering wheel controls ) and the conversation comes through the car speakers, automatically muting the stereo. Isn't technology amazing - mobile phones used to be the size of house bricks and now they weigh 3 tons and need an engine to drag them about ;-)
  7. When I first looked at this I thought what a sad and pointless hobby, but now I've spent all afternoon reading stuff on there it seems kinda cool, I'm off to break in somewhere I shouldn't be asap P.S. None of those blokes can spell !
  8. Your probably right. Ive seen worlds strongest man on t.v., they pull trucks and tip minis but theres never any sports car??? lol The VX might be a future buy for me then from what your saying. Yeah, sports cars aren't heavy enough for those guys Definitely drive one at the very least, they are thrilling. I think Clarkson said it's the quickest thing from 40 to 80 under £40,000, or words to that effect. They are seriously quick and thats before you turn the boost up and they corner like a track car. I would really love one and when I'm old and wrinkly and I've lost a few stone I'll get one
  9. VX220 Turbo is one of the best drives on the planet, period. Regardless of budget. They are fantastic. That is what would be in my garage if only I could fit in it Powerlifting and sports cars don't mix
  10. I've had a few Renault Sport Clios, 172 and 182 and they are a total hoot - quite possibly the best hot hatch out there just now, but I've not driven a Megane 225. I'm just hoping you were aware of the depreciation and went into this with your eyes open - hopefully you leased it and will just hand it back at the end so you won't take the financial hit. P.S. The 350z engine is designed and built by Nissan, they sell it to Renault for the Vel Satis.
  11. Agreed 100%. I want to own and drive as many nice cars as I can, I can't possibly stick to one car, although there are a few that I keep coming back to.
  12. Where the hell do you guys live ??? If I was sat in traffic that much I would take the bike
  13. I have seen a couple of Roadsters in the flesh, I saw a nice one in Azure recently but it wasn't for sale. I don't think the roof sits very well on the car to be honest and the Red certainly didn't do it any favours. The coupe is definitely better looking, in my opinion, but I do like a soft top so I would put up with it. I agree about the paintwork. The trouble is the general public don't know how to look at paint. I've had people wanting to part exchange cars they have owned for years and never knew they had been repaired, and yet as soon as you point it out they can see it. I would assume this was an insurance job so the guy was probably just happy to get it back without scratches, or whatever had happened to it. The panel fit was fine so I'm pretty certain it wasn't an accident, and in any case it would be a strange accident to warrant painting the entire car so I'm pretty sure it had been vandalised. The search continues !
  14. Today was the day I went to view the 06 plate Roadster in Chilli Pepper. I took a driver with me because I was pretty certain I was buying it and in fact I had purposely kept the cash to one side for this very car. My driver was first up to the car and as I approached he pointed out the orange peel paintwork on the passenger side. This is a 70 year old guy who has no motor trade experience other than driving cars for me, so if he can spot it anyone can ! On closer inspection the entire car has been painted except for the windscreen surround. This was an 06 plate with 11,000 miles. There was no sign of accident damage so I can only assume it had been vandalised/keyed etc but unfortunately the paintwork was of such a low standard with orange peel ( too much paint applied to the panel ) and dirt trapped under the paint that I just couldn't bring myself to buy it. I must say, at the risk of upsetting some owners, I didn't like the look of the car at all. Whether it was the Chilli Pepper with Black Hood combination or what I don't know, but it was not a pretty car ! On the bright side I picked up an 05 plate Landcruiser Amazon on the way home, so it wasn't a wasted journey
  15. I want one of those too. All the magazine reviews I have read really rate it as a focused drivers car.
  16. Head gasket failure on the K series is no big deal. Every garage in the world is used to doing them because it's so common, most charge about £150 - £200 all in, so nothing to lose any sleep over and they are cheap as chips. You can get into a relatively new car for £4000 if you go with one of these.
  17. Absolute dogs danglies, they can't be THAT bad round corners, can they ? For me it would be the left hand drive putting me off. I've tried it before and I just can't get into it, I would have to track down a RHD version. I'm pretty sure there is someone selling RHD Mustangs, maybe Bauer Millet in Manchester ?
  18. I gave up to Ebay a long time ago after advertising several cars and the winning bidders not turning up - and a few of them had decent feedback. It seems to me that it's basically a glorified car boot sale with no legal comeback on the vendor, you pays your money, you takes your chance. Let the buyer beware !
  19. I get telephone sales calling for "the business owner" several times every day. I usually say the owner is on his Yacht in the Bahamas and will be back sometime in the Winter. I have all my staff trained to say this
  20. The car in the immediate foreground in the lower pic, look in the mirror along the door panel, the finish is appalling !!! I still would tho
  21. Thanks for that info and the link. It sounds like he really liked the car so I guess I need to start tracking one down and drive one. I'll have the fastest Dog Van in the North West
  22. Take it to any competent garage and get them to track it up with the steering wheel centered. Someone has tracked the car before and not bothered to check if the wheel was straight as they did it - it's surprisingly common and one of my pet hates in a car. I charge £20+VAT for laser wheel alignment so don't get ripped off, its a simple while you wait job. HTH
  23. Everything comes to he who waits, and boy did you wait Well done mate, what you looking for next ?
  24. Yeah, GTS25T, no mods except the loudest exhaust I've ever had ! Shame it doesn't go as well as it sounds, needs a big turbo really but I can't start spending on it or thats the profit gone
  25. Dan

    The big 40!!!

Happy birthday mate, I'll be turning 40 in November
