Where abouts did you fit it in the rear bumper. Was it under or over the cross member? The guys I was looking at said that it had to be verticle. How did you get your strip verticle. Loads of questions Ming the Impatient
-
Hi guys Was just about to buy one of these but phoned the company first. Glad I did!! The strip needs to be verticle otherwise it picks up road movement so our bumper would be problematic as the main available surface is leaning down at 40 degrees. Also it needs to be 50 cm from the floor AND 20mm from any metal. The main support for the bumper is a VERY large piece of metal from side to side and therefore takes out any possiblity of this system being used On my Jag I fitted the reversing sensors in the reversing lights themselves and they almost disappeared. I think I will be going down this route again as I do not want to cut holes in the bumper. Does anyone recomend a good quality but simple system. I only want an audible beep as I intend to fully hide the system. Ming the Blind reverser

The problems with our legal system - UPDATE
Emperor Ming replied to Emperor Ming's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Everyone is entitled to their day out in court but if it gets to a trial and then he pleads guilty then the sentence will go up a chunk - fine - the points usually stay the same though. If he hasn't thought of an excuse, alibi, reason, load of bollox by now then he ought to be pleading guilty Crown court it is lots different and an early guilty plea can make quite a big difference to the final sentence. ming the useful -

Knowing the system like I do its a decent result. The suspended sentence is a result cos he is a burglar as well so is going to get caught sooner or later and will have to serve the three months!!!!!! Ming the content -
Cheers mate I will either spray it or tape it then but its gotta look spot on!! Ming the happy

The problems with our legal system - UPDATE
Emperor Ming replied to Emperor Ming's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Hi guys A quick update. I kicked and screamed and fell out with the CPS and after we both picked him out on an ID parade - like that wasn't going to happen - they begrudgingly agreed to charge him. He stated he would plead NOT GUILTY but on his first appearance at court yesterday he pleaded. His ban was three weeks of completed but they banned him for another 15 months , gave him three months in Jail , suspended for 12 months and probation. He He He He He He He He He He He I can't wait to see the CPS guy, a friend of mine I might add, who said that we didn't stand a chance without some other evidence. Guess he owes me a couple of pints!!!!!!!!!!! Ming the Happy. PS I have spent two whole days upsetting our Itinerant Tinker traveller friends and will post up what and how later. Its a good laugh! -
I think you took me a bit too literally, Ming. Wheeewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just came over in a cold sweat, a shudder and a mild panic attack. My XK experience WAS NOT GOOD. Just thought I better help prevent a mistake and missed the subtle humour in your comments Ming the Over zealous

Ming... I think I've kidded myself it's better in the mid range, but it's all nonsense really.. sounds awesome though and I wouldnt take it off for no one now scares animals and children when you boot it GORGEOUS (nearly as addictive as a dump valve on a GTO ) Guess I gotta have one then!! Dump Valve = Chav Said like a non turbo guy!! ALL turbo cars have dump valves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like noisy exhausts then you gotta like noisy dump valves!! Ming the Old Chav Guess who's got one then?? As soon as i get it, its traight to the powder coaters for a liberal coating of 'Gun Metal Grey' powder coating then onto Mr Mings car. DON'T BUY AN XK I have just gone the other way so i know both cars. The XK IS a lot more comfortable but a lot less fun. The Z is not uncomfortable on journeys but the ride, well mine anyway, is choppy round town on crappy old Barnsley roads. The 'presence' of the Z far outweighs the XK, as nice as it was, and reliability with the Z WILL NOT BE AN ISSUE....... IT WILL be an issue with the XK. For the same price an XK or XKR will have 50 to 60 thou on the clock. Its got back seats that are so small they are useless!! so the Z being a 2 seater IS NOT an issue. XK's aare ALL automatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Mings thoughts Ming the Manual lover

I have bought an auction car in the past - not a 350Z - and was pleased with the process although it was a little slow. I have to say it is quite exciting watching the process unfold in front of you. The firm I used emailed me pics of cars to the spec I wanted and then emailed me to say what it would cost ON THE ROAD to me. I then agreed the auction bid and on the third time of trying I was successful. The other option is to go to one of the many garages that import them themselves and see what they have to offer. I did the later this time and got a very good deal from the Garage I used. I looked at the whole DIY import thing as well and spoke to a friend of mine who does the occasional car himself and to be honest for the little extra it costs I would strongly suggest leaving it to someone else. Hope this helps Ming the Zed Happy

Another great reason for 6 speeds and a wobbly gear stick. My car was ALWAYS beep free!!!!!!!!!!! Ming the Quiet - well in my car anyway!!

With the speaker being under the dash I would guess that the feed for it comes from the reverse switch which will be somewhere near the gear lever. I would guess at two feeds. One for the reversing lights and one for the speaker. A process of elination should sort it out. Just a thought. No one else on here disabled the errant BEEP????? Ming hte Beep free PS I looked under the bumper and there is plenty of space to fit the strip underneath the metal section of the bumper with space a plenty for the box of bits and access to a feed. Its going to be fiddly but not impossible and there should be no need to take the bumper off. As it is only a warning sound and does not have to be loud I reckon the beeper can stay in the boot as well and the whole thing will be out of sight whichj in my book is better still. I am going to email the firm and ask if the strip need to be fitted upright or can it be tilted down over its length as the bumper place I want to use, and can get to, faces down at about 45 degree's. To fit it above this place on a verticle surface would be MUCH more difficult and could require bumper removal. I will keep you updated.

Did you notice a difference to the car when you fitted it - apart from ther induction noise of course? Might be tempted by one myself. Its more metal to bling at the end of the day. Ming the Curious

Mine is a JDM and I have no 'go backwards' beep? Should I feel left out?? I think I am going to have a look at the rear bumper in daylight tomorrow and see what it would be like to fit. If it seems easy enough then i think I will be a guinea pig and try it. I do like the idea of it being hidden from sight and I do need some sort of reversing sensor before i make a mess of the bumper. I will let you all know how it goes Ming the pioneer

Hi Guys and gals I am looking for a standard OEM lip spoiler for my Zed. Thought long and hard and decided OEM style is the best. Theres nowt on Ebay so I wondered if anyone knows a good source preferably already painted? Cheers in advance Ming the Hopeful

Hi Mike thanks for the quick reply Do you know if anyone fitted one? All i am after is a reliable reverse parking sensor. A two sensor system will do as I will mount them in the reversing lights. Simple bleeps will do to allow a judgement of distance in parallel parking. I saw these and thought that if they were reasonably effective it would save drilling holes in anything. The only draw back that I can see is that they only work when the car is moving and stop if the car stops? With standard stuff the bleeps continue when stationary and until you take the car out of reverse. I don't really fancy shelling out £260 on the Nissan stuff when you can bet its only the same stuff as on sale on the web but with a Nissan sticker on it somewhere Any recommendations greatly appreciated as Mrs Ming is treating me for my birthday next month!
