  1. Ah cool - Add it to the list of defects then
  2. Looks like you have been making good progress. Well done for doing it all yourself. Once your done you will so feel so good about it at the end. One thing I was not sure of - the cracked exhaust - Did you say its just passed an MOT as there is no way a car with that should get though a pukka MOT as its letting gas out underneath the car which is now allowed
  3. Good luck in getting a repair, I doubt anyone will do it as its in the side 1/4 of the treat which is the area they are not meant to repair it. I would say take it into a shop and see if they can repair otherwise replace it (or just remove it if its not deep enought to pierce the tyre) Better that way than saying "I'll sort it next week" like we did with my girlfriends then it went on the M25, luckly the runflats came to the rescue
  4. An interesting progression - looks like MSN Messenger and Google mail combined
  5. Sounds Good. Any pics of the work done to the Rays?
  6. Both locations are good - for me the small pocket is ideal for the iPhone as it means its got easy access. With the iPhone you are likely to be removing it every time. The armrest is more ideal for a normal ipod you tend to leave in the car (I have mine in there) as you are likely to leave it thus don't want it in view.
  7. If you can find someone with a Paint Depth Gauge you can probably work out if its been repainted . I would carry on pursuing it. Let Nissan know of your intents and ask them to still clarify what "external damage" and you agree that its not "consistent with the manufacturer's paint finish" that its a defect with the paint or pre-work thus the end result you see before you.
  8. Powercoating is different to painting. It invovles firing powder at the wheel while its got electricity flowing making the powder sit on the wheel. Its then baked to melt the powder into a smooth shiny finish. Powder coating is much more resiliant than painting
  9. As I now have a Pop Charger on order lets see what I can do. Wheres that bit of carbon I had left over, bit of resin and away we go
  10. Free HD subs - now that would be the killer offer I'm deciding whether to do multiroom or not when the girlfriend moves in and brings her HD box.
  11. Nice guide - Althought one step missed off. While wheel is off get some brake/alloy cleaner and give the brake caliper a nice good clean
  12. You should not need to ground the bose amp - it will already be ground (not looked at the circuits but guess it will be done close to the amp) Whining is normally due to a bad earth. Try moving where you have gound the amp to a more solid part of the car.
  13. This is the sort of mod I like the look of. THink I will be giving this a go myself. 1 Question - Why have you removed the reflector. If you use the LEDs linked from ebay then they are designed to work with reflectors (LEDs on the sides)
  14. RE the sub being quiet - Did you use the ICT looms? Sometimes these are thought to not amplify the sound enough although I think normally its the whole volume not just subs As for the system beinn earthed. Unless you have specificly done it yourself it won't be. You might find that you are currently earthing it through the aerial.
  15. Some quick detailer and cotton buds or toothbrush are normally the best. I would avoid the fairy liquid for now as it will strip all the wax/polish from the car rather than just the polish left you want to remove
  16. lol, you think do you. I would put money on his premium going up. Protected NCB or not you still have to tell them you have a at fault full payout claim last year. Once you have 7+yrs NCB protecting it IMO is not worth it. Insurance cost between 7NCB and 5NCB (what you would have after an accident) is fairly small
  17. Is there a reason why you did not just for the 700BT and then replace the Bose - would have just slotted straight in and probably would have cost no more
  18. 245s should be fine on an 8" rim - thats what you get on the standard rear Rays which are 8" wide
  19. I think your being taken for a fast one. There is no way that the driveshaft would go dry in a day, it would take quite a while for all the grease etc to be cleaned out of the axle. I would even say it would probably take weeks including a few good drives in the wet etc. They are blatenty not checked over the car during the service properly. I would speak to the service manager and ask him to explain how exactly the joint would have lost all the grease and become bone dry in the time between leaving the service and you driving it away. Make a record of all comunications you have made and who they have been made with - if you speak to anyone get thier name. They just say tough then write a letter of complaint to Nissan GB listing all that has gone on. The more detailed you can be the better and more evidence you have that they have not serviced your car to the standard and makes you wonder how many of the checks were actually done and if there is any other issues that you have not been told of.
  20. Very interesting - Been looking at something like the first one for mine (although probably something other than Rays) Would be interesting to see if anyone has had the whole lip to spokes polished up. I have seen someone has had the edge of the lip polished but not the whole lip. IMO unless its polished it will look a bit strange if the spokes are black.
  21. Pretty sure ABS warning light would be a fail - stupidly the speedo not working isn't lol. I would say your best bet is finding out of said part needs to be coded or if its just a straight unplug/plug - if so then I am sure you could find one in a scrappy for a lot less.
  22. The loom including steering wheel controls should not be that much - If they won't supply it for that price ask if they fit supplied equiptment as you can get it cheaper else where. ICT 29-674 - £33 for Bose Loom + Steering Controls ICT 29-001 - £4.50 Alpine Specific Steering Controls So <£40
  23. One really annoying thing about the dash is I think the digital dial completely destroys the sleek look of the dials/dash
  24. Yup, would strongly recommend Alpine as they are some of the best out there and very user friendly. If your have an elastic budget lol then it might be worth looking at the Alpine 104BT - This is a great head unit with pull iPhone/iPod compatilibility, really easy to use and built in bluetooth meaning you will not miss loosing the built in one (the Alpine one is actually a Parrot who are the #1 aftermarket hands free supplier) http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/new_for_ ... ml?cat=732 - A bit more at £190 bit lots for your money. Don't waste your money on DAB - hardly anyone does it now. It not taken off at all in-car
  25. No reason why it could not be done. If you were I would recommend putting in a 2nd battery and split charger to power it. Powering it off the main battery would more than likely result in a dead battery one morning. Would not be a cheap mod but easily possible
