Me, me, me! Though I have just driven back from Nottingham with a transit full of stuff, so far too knackered to fight tonight, we can start tomoz

I would definitely recommend a K+N Typhoon for you Chris. The intake roar is brutal while you accelerate hard but as soon as you trail off and hit a steady speed the roar completely disappears. This is the perfect combination for me and makes it suitable for motorways. I travel on A roads to work and you wouldn't know it was fitted until you the go pedal . Its worth the money for the sound alone. Craig. Good stuff. Time to start saving the pennies

Daron's new 350z + Bodykit..many extras to be fitted soon
Chris`I replied to N15MNO-Daron's topic in Styling
Make me a sensible offer for my 1 year old Spill's kit just about to come off my 05/55 and it's yours. Full colour instructions included. I assume it will fit the JDM but no doubt somebody on here will tell for sure. Cost £62+P&P new. PM me if interested. Keith Second dibs on that -
+1 on chipsaway. They did a bit of work on my Leon when my old dear scuffed the alloy. They had to send it away cos of the "special" coating (not sure it was special tbh!) but came back exactly as new. Was v impressed Quotes of around £50 will be normal. Mine was £60 as it got sent away.

Good stuff chap. Glad to see someone else is mad enough to remove (even if I did it partially) the bumper! I guess you didnt have too much trouble with the headlight washers? Mine were a sod and right in the way as I only partially removed the bumper, leaving it partly attached at the top all the time. Looks excellent though. How do you find the K&N on the motorway? Is it noticable? I quite fancy one, but do a lot of M-way miles a week (~300) so need it to be quiet at around 70MPH.

But then we'd be paying Audi prices for these cars and it would suddenly cost £40k not £30k! Twas the same with my Leon. Yeah its a rebranded Audi (all the engine bits said Audi on them) but it rattled like buggery after 18 months. However, if I'd had the same spec in an A3 (near on S3) I would have had to pay nearly £4k more for no rattles!

Oh you can remove the BOSE surround very easily, yes it is just bolted on with around 8 bolts. The easiest way to use the space (sans BOSE sub) is to remove that surround. The area behind there is very spacious, see: Just to show how much space is wasted. You can see in the middle of the BOSE hole is a bracket. This is the same on both sides and its what the gloebox bolts to. This is only about 2/3 of the way back in the space. Gives you an idea of how much is wasted, if the depth of the glove box is only about half the space available!

When I managed to catch ya (people pulling out in my way ), had a decent cruise on the way to Chineham. Shame it was rush hour otherwise we could have had a decent blast

I think it is Tesco Metro now, I still know it as M&W, but was One Stop last I guess it was you again :bye:

Check the service manual on this site (wherever its hiding, I think in Modifications > FAQ). It tells you how the rear comes apart. Unforunately its quite a lot of work due to the overlapping interior panels of the Zed. You need to remove most of the trim from behind the seats to the strut brace
-
There is a huuuuge area behind there, as I realised last weekend when sound deadening it all. Near enough a full interior out job for the back of the car. Unforunately though, the storage door from a left hand drive car wouldnt work as the door is built into the whole rear panel with the cig lighter and BOSE hatch etc all in. Shame as that would be a great idea The door on the passenger side cubby seems to be the same size and shape (at least it is on my JDM). Would it be possible to fit one of these to the driver's side? Although the hole appears to be the same size, on the UK spec (and I guess the others looking at other guides on the net) has the door build into the rest of the section of trim it is a part of. The shutting mechanism (bit of string) is attached to a coil behind the middle of the trim. This means you'd not be able to attach another door the same to the other side. You could possibly fabricate one into it. See here, you can see the panel half removed and the door is attaced, but the BOSE part isnt.

Sell some Apache bits on eBay, that'll get you there in no time

Look sweet mate! Be very interested to see what they look like on the car. I couldnt have these as the missus drives mine, and even though she is a brill driver, I wouldnt trust her not to curb them! Is there such things as weekend wheels as like weekend cars?
-
Yeah the glove box behind the passenger seat. Mine had a big ass DVD like player for the Sat nav. Sorry didnt mean the front cubby in the middle of the dash If you lift the plastic tray it gives you access to an empty void of the under belly of the car.
-
Never knew that was there! I didnt know there was meant to be a mat over it. Mine originally had sat nav, but they wanted an extra £500 for it. Knowing I would put in my carputer I told them to take it out, but it didnt have a mat to cover the tray. Assumed that was how it came. Appears my "document holder" isnt so secret

Kit lenses do tend to suck a bit, but in the right hands and knowing the limitations of them you can still take amazing photos. I thought the kit lens on mine was poo, then saw some of the pro shots on dpreview from it and was amazed. Just need to realise its not a pro lense so wont be any good wide open (low aperatures) or in low light. They also tend to suck at the more extreme ends of their focal lenghs too. eBay has some gems if you hunt around, people upgrading to the pro series lenses selling off their old ones cheap

Get the camera (doesnt matter which - all the ones listed so far are good), have a quick scan of the eBooks I sent ya (the functions they relate to are generic, not just the 300D or Canon they go on about) then get out there and take loads of piccies, playing with the settings. Best way to learn

Will give it a look as I have some blockbuster credits to use up

+1 Vanquish or DB9 sport Out of the 2 DB9 sport SHOULD be the better option due to the manual gearbox option. However i still prefer the look of the Vantage. Chris - lets get some cash together and get one. lol Give me 20 or so years to pay of my mortgage and I'll be up for it

Ones that cost well over a grand a few years ago are now around the £400 mark these days, as is always the way with technology. This is why I got my Canon 350D last year (maybe longer, cant really remember) as it was the quality of camera I was after and it finally made it into my price bracket. As Louis says, a lot of shots these days are down to the lense. There isnt really a massive difference between a £300 and a £3k Digi SLR for the average SLR user. Sure for pro's who blow images up onto bill boards the differences are there, but for a 5"x7" print, you wont notice any difference if they both had the same lense. Lenses however are still expensive for the good ones as expensive lenses have expensive glass A good D-SLR course is also advisable. I have a few good eBooks if people want them, I think we were doing a "take a copy, pass it on" theory with Louis having the last copy so PM him and see if he'll "pass it on"

Ahh so you are finnally biting the bullet chap! First place to start is http://www.dpreview.com/ << they do pretty much the best reviews of cameras. Their forums are also very informative. As far as the cameras go, the current crop in your price range seem to be D50, 350D and at a push 400D and D80. From what I have read, there is next to no difference in Nikon/Canon at the same leves (ie D50 vs 350D, D80 vs 400D). It all comes down to which one you prefer the feel of, and which manufacturer offers the lenses you are after. I went after the Canon as they do more lenses at different price ranges which will allow me to upgrade lense as and when I need them.
