  1. Its a ball ache, but it is possible. By removing the tail light and some bumper fixings, you can persuade the bumper to move enough to just get the light in there. And I mean just! There is an annoying locator slider on the side of the bumper, which gives you a fair bit of room to work with, but when it pops off its a sod to get back on. For me at least Oh and also there is a locator you have to turn 90 degrees, and no man or beast has ever worked out a way to get it back on easily, even Phil doesnt know! These are the reasons why I didnt update the original guide to tell people how to do the fog light, as I didnt want people ballsing it up on my account.
  2. Wow, what a well written guide, that guy must be a genius
  3. Well Centrafuse covers off MP3/Nav/DVD/phone and I also have a few apps embedded in it, namely PSUmoni (monitors the car PSU over USB) and DashCommand (new work in progress, using OBDII to create a GTR like dash). Other s/w I have is few and far between. I have memory map on there as it has Landranger maps for all of the UK incase I get lost up a mountain Cant really think of anything over and above that. Was looking to get some games on there at some point (emulators, arcade games etc).
  4. Guys, you need to read up on the FAQs on MP3car.com. They will reveal everything you need, from touchscreens to power. They have been there, done that, blown it up and rebuilt it better! I really suggest that you go look at leemiks car on there, its a 350z and very nicely done. As for the Zed - you can fit a 7" touchscreen in the Nav cubby if you take the surround/bezel off the screen. For power there are loads of CarPC PSUs specifically desinged to power your Pc and screen, with auto on off and loads of other options. I have a Carnetix P2140, which does all of that, has 185w of power (more than enough for a carpc), and can be monitored from the USB connection

    My new car

Jay, as you seem to have some spare cash splashing around, fancy, err, loaning me some permenantly for a TT upgrade for my Zed? Whats £6 between friends May get a good deal on a double wedding which would save you some money Well one of my best mates is getting married this Aug. And I'm having to be fully morning suited up for that and the missus is a brides maid, so we may be able to tag on the end of his wedding Far easier if Jay just gives me the money out right though. I did buy a Blitz punchbag once and I think some foot and hand guards, so I've done my bit in helping his family empire

  8. Another vote for Admiral. Dont cover the mods for replacement, but given we can source the aftermarket stuff cheaper than OEM, I dont see that as being much of problem Got a multicar premium atm and it was £800 for both the Zed and the missus corsa with both of us on both cars and me on the Zed with 20k business miles/year. And no foreigner that you cant understand in teh call centre, just some nice helpful Welsh people
  9. Hmm blackmail - I seem to remember you trialled that on me and Amanda You want to watch those smiles martin, dangerous stuff. I was talking to Amanda about the PE TT upgrade and she says I can have it if I buy her a ring. Only problem there is the costs that are accrued after buying the ring! Be good to see you in Wales Phil, give you a break from manic life of sorting our cars out PS Whos the plus one?
  10. +1 - definately lots of ladies about in lovely summer wears
  11. Looks interesting, better than the blanking plates/bungs from B&Q
  12. MP3car.com is the place to start for CarPCs. Do a search for LeeMiks (he's also on here but one of our American cousins). There are full details of his build, of which I got a lot of inspiration. 7" touchscreen is easily mounted into the front cubby and plenty of space behind the AC control to hide things. I would suggest (if you have the money) to get a transflexive display as they greatly reduce glare from sun. Also an old laptop makes for a perfect CarPC in the Zed, nice and flat and easy to install. For a software front end I suggest Centrafuse (google it). Get the bog basic version for now as they are making changes to it, and I can get Nav working for it if you PM me I'll explain If you can get to the Wales run I can fully explain what I've done. Having recently moved to a new laptop though, the install is a little rough around the edges in the glovebox, but the software side of it is now very stable and pretty darn good.
  13. Dont give him ideas. And no Jay, Phil doesnt do that
  14. Thats a great price for twin turbo setup! gona check my account too! But fitting is a problem..Envy are in Northumberland.. couldn't be any further from london thats about 7 hrs drive!! So. Buy it from Envy & get it fitted locally. Or make the trip to Envy or Phil. Its well worth the effort, Phils services is second to none. I wouldnt think twice about driving up to get it done there. When you are forking out a fair few grand, spending a bit more on getting up there is nothing. I'm sure Phil could arrange a lift to the airport if you leave it with him for a week, flights cost bugger all these days. Leave it a week and fly back to collect it What I would be more worried about is getting someone local down here to sercvice it.
  15. Did your Dad not note the milage before he left? I always do when I leave my car with anyone to make sure they havent driven it. Sounds to me like hes been for a cheeky test drive!
  16. I stand corrected. Maybe £5.5k was the final value from Envy. I'm still waiting for Phil to use my car as a long term test mule for the kit
  17. I'll be different and vote for muffins Them or Danish to kick the day off
  18. I've got Megs Hot Rims or whatever its called. Inherited it from a mate. Looks good and doesnt seem to have splattered anywhere, although it will rub off if you catch it.
  19. Unfortunately we're not the US so mods like this will cost a lot. Look at the price of the Zed over there, its about half the cost of here. Same with all mods. However, no turbo is going to be plug and play, so I'd rather pay extra now than have a US kit bolted on to find it go pop. 450BPH at the crank is never going to be an economy option either +1 Dont Envy do the PE kit for about 5.5k fitted? Personally I'm staying away from FI until I can afford to do the internals I seem to remember that number being bounded about by someone else, but I think it was a mixup between Gav and Kev and it ended up being more than that.
  20. I dont think he wants to though Would love to have a test drive in this beast. I get the feeling it keeps the real soul of the Zed, unlike the big turbo/SC kits.
  21. Perfect timing, just as I got home. Will pop up in the loft and get it now
