  1. I've seen it done a few times. Mostly by tyre fitters that dont seem to realise that there is a front to back stagger in rolling radius and therefor make the front and rear tyres the same rolling radius. Very silly when you know how it works, but I guess most cars have the same rolling radius front and rear.
  2. Get yourself a Megs Clay Bar kit from Halfords, that should remove it. If it doesnt post up a pic/description of what you are trying to remove and we'll advise. Craig (Muddy) is an ex-pro detailler so he will know what to use to shift it safely
  3. Nope, maybe they are a bit high? I find that when mine come back from MOT they are stupidly low, so I crank them up a fair few clicks (IIRC about 30!). You can find the adjuster on the top inside edge of unit by the top mounting bolt. There is a hole, that if you look down you will see a star shape adjuster which if you have a really long posi drive screw driver you can adjust. Think its clockwise for up, so I suggest you turn yours down a little (I tend to judge mine on having the cutoff clearly on the top of most peoples rear numberplates. That way you shouldnt dazzle people.
  4. That would be logical, why didnt I think of that
  5. OK, I hope this goes to show why you are having problems. Remember in simple terms TC determins slip by seeing the rear wheels spinning quicker than the front (in reality a ratio of this is used to calculate it as the tyre sizes are staggered - and it can do this within a certain margin too, doesnt have to be exact - just close) OK, so taking Rays, my Rotas (which I know are good), and yours and then what I think you should run to get as close to stock as possible with your given width of tyre- Rays: 225/45/18 245/45/18 Diff = 2.73% or 18mm RR My Rotas: 245/35/18 275/35/18 Diff = 3.34% or 21mm RR Yours 235/40/18 265/35/18 Diff = -0.31 or -2mm RR Recommended 235/40/18 265/40/18 Diff = 3.72 or 24mm RR (** Note 45 profile on both gives a bigger diff, hence why I went smaller RR than stock. **) Given that your sizes already put the ratio into negative figures its not too hard to see why TC is kicking in almost instantly. Any time the rear wheels go a fraction quicker than the front the TC will kick in which is what you are seeing. Hope that helps. Would be good if someone validates my results, its the weekend and early for my head Another thing to note, which I'm not sure is true or not, is that if you have a bigger back tyre (ie make the RR of the rear tyre larger), the TC will kick in less as it thinks that the rear wheel is turining slower than the front in relation. So therefor the rear wheel will need to go considerably quicker than the front (ie more spin) before it kicks in. Not sure if you go too far it will break the other way as it thinks the rear wheel is going too slow?!
  6. Thats what I was gunning at. Usually theres a stagger in RR front to rear. If you've closed that up, it may think the tyres are spinning even when they are not. I'll go bash the numbers into the tyre calc and report back
  7. Does anyone know the difference between the HEL and Goodridge lines? I see on 350z-wiki that some line kits have more to them than others. I have the HEL lines on my R6 and they are excellent, just wanted to know what justifies the Goodrigdge being more expensive (apart from the name). I'm going to order whichever is the best, so lets hear some constructive comments. PS Not sure this warrented a seperate thread? The only reason I am asking is because Andrew has both on offer.
  8. Being a bit naieve in this area, does the car change the rate of charge on the battery? I've noticed recently that my voltage readout on the pod seems to be higher than normal. Not taken any specific readings (can do off the CarPC PSU if needs be), but assumed it was down to the weather. Could it be the battery on the way out? I have a mate who works at Halfrauds so could get him to do a batt check if you think it could.
  9. Kind of. From what Phils explained to me, it doesnt matter if your RR isnt the same as stock, as long as the difference or ratio between the front and back is the same. Mine are smaller RR than stock, but as I keep the ratio front to back, the TC is fine. If you think about it, it works by measuring the difference in speed between front and rear. If you keep the ratio the same, it doesnt matter if the wheels are bigger or smaller than stock, it just thinks you are going quicker or slower than you really are. So when we say you need to keep RR the same as stock, thats not strictly true. You need to keep the ratio of RR front to rear the same +1 although a bit simplified.... Well it is the weekend and Chrimbo holidays too, so my brain has turned off a bit

  11. But your stagger is 10mm different to stock, so it's not the same. 245 - 225 = 20 275 - 245 = 30 How would the stagger in width effect the TC? I meant the stagger in the rolling radius of the wheens front to back. All it can go on is how quick the wheels are spinning. Its the difference between the rolling radius of the front and rear wheels that matters TC monitors the speed of the front and rear wheels and when the rears spin quicker than the fronts by a certain amount it cuts power to pull in the spin. Also this is the setup that Phil recommended me and I trust it 100%. The TC works just as before.
  12. I heard this on the Chris Moyle's show, was hillarious! Not a good combo when driving to work, very distracting! And only they could get Mark Ronson to join in too!
  13. Its not just about rolling radius the "same as stock" guys, its about keeping the stagger back to front correct. Standard wheels, Rays, GT4 wheels all have different rolling radius IRRC but the stagger is the same. I run 245/35/18 and 275/35/18 which are both under the stock rolling radius of the Rays, almost 5% out, but they keep the front to back stagger of rolling radius correct and thats the important thing. I dont have any problems with TC. You need to check that the front to back stagger of RR is the same, I'm being too lazy to check
  14. Yeah its pretty easy - as easy as this - http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutorial ... stallation Just be very careful that you dont catch the plastic surrounds with anything as its scratches very easily
  15. Yup thats where I got mine I think someone on here makes them now and again. Cant remember the chaps name though
  16. Welcome to the club bud - I've been off since yesterday, but have to go back on the 5th, guess you have a week more than me, lucky sod
  17. I think what they needed to improve upon was the driveability at that power level. As touched upon above the Evo VIII FQ400 was so laggy it was ridiculous. +1 - in the new version I wouldnt want more power, but better delivery (less lag), and longer service intervals.
  18. That's just downright greedy Yeah leave some for the rest of us
  19. or lol lol lol would do it! I give it 5 mins before a mod does it
  20. Oi, get in line, I'm first Usually most people get some kind of silly name before they hit the 5k mark. If you've been around that long, you usually get known for something which gets put in there rather than Legend
  21. , madness !!!!!!!!! its bigger than the engine its strapped to

    Re: Tow hook eye

Careful with the diameter of the tow hook. As we found at JTS this year, they arent all the same. I think we categoriesed them as thin and fat, but there are two definate different threads, and some cars have differing ones front to rear
  23. Why, do they have ladyboy's there too?
  24. Mine get more than hot enough for me, but they take an age to warm up. I get both bum and back warmth, but the back does take a bit longer again than the bum to warm up. There is a significant difference between the two settings for me. I guess its just down to how hot you like to have it and its a bit hit and miss if it works really!
