  1. Have you inspected the pain job? Had you not called and gone and visited, you could have asked for the deposit back and say you dont want to have a botched job on the paint as its been redone twice. They wouldnt have been able to fight that, but as it stands, you pulled out, and thats what the deposit is for. Not sure if there is anything in law that says a deposit has to be based on the money they could or could not have made while that car was being held for you. If you pay a deposit, at the end of the day, you have to be happy to lose it. If it was too much money, you should have argued not to pay that much as a deposit.

  2. Yeah, because there was only a couple of places involved in all of this!

It's rife in the industry, the past couple of weeks are just the tip of the iceberg really.

Of course, this is just the start of what they will uncover. Its not like they're saying it only came from Britain and not Romania and Poland, its just adding to the places that have had it going on. Wouldnt be surprised if this went very wide spread tbh, seems like it must be an easy fiddle.

TBH I'm surprised that food agencies dont make suppliers test their goods. Its like Nissan just rolling off car after car from the production line and doing no testing/QA on them what so ever before punters get in and drive them!

  3. Brake hoses from the GTR? Are they sure about that? I guess they would be braided, just like a GTR, but somehow I doubt they are the same hoses.

I'd still have had my Black Edition + exhaust/intake/UpRev to get more power and nicer noise :#1:

  4. TBH the price it about what I've paid before for proper karting. These things will make you ache in places you didnt know you can ache. I did a Grand Prix one near London (Surbiton), and you're hanging on for dear life after about lap 5! These things have immense grip and speed, well worth the money IMO.

  5. Would love to do this, but as we are taking the bikes, I need to see if we can get to it in time. We could do Penmachno in the morning which is 20 mins away, just need to see if we can get from the campsite and do the ride and make it to the karting in time. If not we'd just meet everyone at Moreton instead.

  6. Guys,

Can you please run a quick SQL query to replace all URLs like this:

    with

Think Chesterfield has done a quick fix, see if its worked or let us know the thread if it hasn't.

I cant do it from work, for some reason they don't like us SSHing out of the corporate firewall for some reason ;)

  7. Is it a Merc supplied fuel pump? :stir:

The other worry for McLaren is the fuel-pump failure that affected Jenson Button on day one. That was a new part aimed at solving the problem that cost Lewis Hamilton victory in Abu Dhabi last year. It's a Mercedes part, but it's odd that it's now failed twice on a McLaren and not on any other Mercedes-engined cars."

Maybe McLaren should make their own :stir:

  8. How come when the new version of the forum opened I could post pictures and now I can't as it says the image are to large and it's the same images?

Can you do a screen grab and post it here or PM me/Chesterfield please?

As for the smilies issue, I'll make sure its bumped up the list and chat to Chesterfield about how we can sort it.

  9. For what its worth, BigPhil (for those that remember him) used to say the Thermal version was marketing BS too. Also in the UK the TB coolant shut off valve can be dangerous if you forget you've turned it off. I seem to remember one temps below something like 5-10C it has to be open to stop the TB frosting over so if you have it closed in the summer and forget to open it when you get the first cold morning after, it could potentially knacker the TB.

  10. Our Alfa didnt have its first service til 22k miles. The ECU limited the amount of torque available for the first 1200 miles and the lets you have more building up to something like 1500 miles to protect the engine and running gear.

The only time I would not follow manufacturers running in is if I've had an engine rebuild and then it would depend on who's done it and I'd stick to what they tell me!

  11. A lot of new cars do not require "running in" but as Nissan are recommending it, I would presume it's for a reason.

In my experience and talking to a few master techs at HPCs, its more to let the brakes and tyres bed in than anything else. The engines are broken in enough from the off to give them a good bit of stick once you warm it up no matter what the miles. Its letting the release agent off the tyres and bedding in the brakes thats more important. Also lets the driver of the car get used to the power if they've not driven something like it before ;)

Cant see any harm in dropping the oil out once its broken in. Wont do much, but equally its what makes you happy that matters
