tell your tester you don't want him to work the controls or drive the car. I take my vehicles to the same garage for mot and no one gets in except me. No problems from the tester, I just do what he asks and it works fine.

there are a couple of speed bumps and the drive has ruts. In my opinion these are not bad. We have been going there for the last 3 years and to my knowledge no-one has had a problem but it would not be fair of me to intimate that it is of a good road standard. I went down there last Sunday and they had had a load of road scalpings delivered and were expecting a jcb this week to grade out the speed bumps. (the bumps are the type which you drive on to and are about 3 car lengths long and have a 'gentle approach'. The grass is flat, similar to Thoresby so you shouldn't have a problem. You pick your own spot to camp/park up. Location: turn off the B6386 (hope I got the road number right) towards Calverton and the entrance is on your left about 100 yds from the junction. Two white concrete bollards at the entrance and a bloody great sign saying Zed Fest. If no-one else is awake talk to the catering bloke who can chew the hind leg off a donkey!

don't worry about coming by yourself. We are a friendly lot (despite what you may have heard) and after a few beers it won't matter anyway! Starts 10am Friday. Don't be too late or you may not be able to help setting up.

Give the lad a chance. We have to accept that our Z's are not the expensive toy they were when most of you bought them. You can now buy an import for £7k-ish, perhaps less. This is less than the price of a new Punto (for example) which is what my son had at that age (to keep his insurance costs down). He now drives a 300zxtt and went through the insurance mangle because of his age. I now have him insured for my Z as well as he is now over 25 and the relative cost is pnuts. The biggest problem as I see it is driving experience. My manner of driving and his are totally different. He drives as I used to at his age but I do notice that as he matures his driving 'improves'. Most young men have quick reactions but lack experience, hence they do not perceive what may be round the corner, they rely on their reactions to get them out of the poo therefore in many cases they over-react thus getting further into it and lack the experience then to get out of it, bearing in mind that they shouldn't have got in it in the first place. Insurance companies load their policies accordingly. We all know that the biggest problem on our roads is the young male driver, we just don't want to pay the premium. Having vented all that the 350z is awfully powerful and this lack of experience in younger drivers will tell out (especially in the coming winter months). Finally if it's your dream go for it. Pass Plus will reduce a premium as will a parent as a named driver. In these coming winter months spend a little money and attend your local Institute of Advanced Motorists Club. The wealth of knowledge you will gain from this will serve you well for the rest of your motoring life.

I think my son is with Admiral. Put me on his insurance for his 300zxtt as a named driver and got £400 off

in case I've not been clear the charge for the bunkroom as a whole is £50 not per person. There are two rooms and a kitchen between. About 6 or 8 bunks per room. Entertainment Sat night is beer/food, quiz,beer/food, disco, beer/food and band/beer food. plus perhaps karaeoke and chat with beer/food in between some peeps may even go to bed. (after beer/food) # There are also some oildrum BBQ's available if needed. Oh nearly forgot, don't you forget FANCY DRESS optional on Saturday night. It's a hoot.
-
I would imagine people will start to disperse after lunch depending on how far they have to go. We have to be clear by 6pm. What time does yor RR session finish. You could always bomb up on Saturday and catch the entertainment on Sat night. There is a bunk room available if you don't want to camp. It's not hotel by any means. I think you can get about a dozen people in and they charge £50 for a night just bring a sleeping bag. Caterer and beer man will be there or bring your barbie.

A man entered the bus with both of his front pockets full of golf balls and sat down next to a beautiful blonde. The puzzled blonde kept looking at him and his bulging pockets. Finally, after many such glances from her, he said, "It's golf balls." Nevertheless, the blonde continued to look at him for a very long time, deeply thinking about what he had said. After several minutes, not being able to contain her curiosity any longer, she asked, "Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have just got back from a recce at the campsite. They have just received a delivery of light use second hand pop up tents. All sorts available but no prices yet. Will be available for sale at Zed Fest.. Also some airbeds and other camping stuff.

you should always do what the boss tells you!
-
£7.50 on the gate for the whole or part event. £2.50 per person per night if camping. There will be a caterer on site plus beer tent.
-
I've posted about them and their ridiculous service prices before. They are absolute crap. How you can even buy a car there is a mistery to me the salesmen totally ignore you and if you are rude enough to approach them they scrutinize a pile of papers they dragged out of a door when you walked in and hope you walk away. I did.

FOR THE GIRLIES THAT WERE AT THE MEET ON SUNDAY
Arkwright replied to player2301's topic in 350Z General
I understand there will be plenty of ladies there. Some are camping and some are being posh in hotels or B&B. Don't be shy. We need you there. There's a top DJ and an excellent local band booked and you know blokes wont get up and dance without female encouragement. -
I don't know your plans for JAE but you really didn't ought to miss Saturday night at Zed Fest especially if you are going to camp over. Fancy dress is optional, there is a bar & food available along with a quiz, top DJ and a first rate local band. Possibly karaoke much later (earlier!) depending on your constitution. Plus you will be in the company of Proper Z Enthusiasts, not psuedo japcar creatures.

do you mean naming a locomotive after him or something else?
-
At last Gordon Brown has decided to resign. His cabinet colleagues decided it would be a worthy gesture to name a railway locomotive after him. A Senior Civil Servant was sent from Whitehall to the National Railway Museum at York to carry out a feasibility study. “They have a number of locomotives here without names.†A specially-sought consultant informs the civil Servant. “Most are freight locomotives though.†The Civil Servant considers this, “Oh dear. That’s not very fitting for a prime minister. How about that big green one over there?†and he indicates no 4472. That one already has a name.†says the consultant, “It’s called The Flying Scotsman.†Not to be phased the civil servant says, “Well couldn’t it be re-named? This is the National Railway Museum and it is after all funded by the taxpayer.†“I suppose it might be considered.†Says the consultant. “There are precedents. LNER renamed a number of locomotives after directors of the company and even one was called Dwight D Eisenhower.†“Excellent.†Says the Senior Civil Servant, “That’s settled then, we’ll rename 4472. But how much will it all cost. We can’t spend too much given the Expenses Scandal.†“Well,†says the consultant, “we could always just paint out the F.â€

put your mum or dad on the policy as a named driver. My son has his 300zxtt with Admiral and they reduced his fee by £400 as I am a named driver. -
Im taking my dads 350z round europe tomorrow and just remembered i need headlight deflectors. Are there some special ones for the 350z or are they just universal? And where do i put them on the lights? Many thanx Zulley (Arkwrights son)

just renewed my pads front & rear and used bog standard pads from motorfactors. Lockheads on front £21.79 and Blue print on back £35.65 both plus vat. Not knocking any other makes but I've run the whole z range from 240 to 300zxtt on standard pads with no probs. I wasn't in a hurry and did fronts one day and rears another. I didn't time it but probably took less than an hour per corner. The Brembo callipers were a dream to work on. I was able to push the pistons back with my fingers, the shims and pins were almost rust-free and well capable of being re-used.
