One of the best explanations on air flow, filteration, heat soak etc that I have come across. Has many further links within the article which are also very useful. http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/intake/intake.htm

What do you guys think of these, - are they just gimmicks? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-350Z-MIMO-Super-Charger-Air-Intake_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ015QQitemZ250004270152QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD2V http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-06-Nissan-350Z-350-z-V6-Air-Razor-Vortex-Generator_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42604QQihZ014QQitemZ330005745848QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD2V

Check to see if your sat nav unit is connected to some kind of SV connector unit. Mine has this kind of SV junction box into which you can connect a dvd/tv/ps2, anything on an SV connection. But what ever you plug in has to be NTSC type not PAL what we use in the UK. (Also has to work on 60Hz screeen, not 50Hz). I have tried PAL Dvd players & PAL cameras but you get no picture or flickering black & white picture, must be NTSC. Or you can by PAL to NTSC convertors which means you may be able to plug in a Pal dvd player as long as it is 60Hz compatible. Best thing I have thought to plug into this box is a small Camera unit. I have a rear Impul wing (as well as no parking sensors), therefore visibility out of the back is like looking out of a letterbox! I have ordered off Ebay, from Hong Kong a small NTSC camrea which has SV connections (£14 total). It can be powered through the power socket in the back of the car. Hopefully if all works (fix camera inside tailgate window) out will have a permenant colour screen showing me whats behind at all times. Will update in the comming weeks on progress, if it works will post pics.

Had frequency shifter fitted before I bought it from dealer. No probs what so ever, sounds perfect. Radio picks up all stations, the only flaw is that all radio stations are close together from about e.g 75khz fm to 95khz. But all that means is that once you find e.g. Capital FM which might be on77.8khz you just save it to a preset & forget about it.

Got JDM with Bose, had frequency shifter fitted before I bought it from dealer. No probs what so ever, sounds perfect. But all that means is that once you find e.g. Capital FM which might be on77.8khz you just save it to a preset & forget about it. IMO Bose sounds excellent compared to even the Harmon Kardon they put in BMW's at over £1,000 & Porsche charge over £1,500 for a Bose sound system! It all depends how far you wnat to go with sounds, in my last car I spent over £800 on sounds, but not now.

Its the same with yours also then lomoto? The good thing that comes out of all this is that after non economical driving (mainly to hear that exhaust at about 4,000rpm) I have done 200 miles, not kilometers, on only two thirds of a JDM 60 litre tank!! I used to get at best 220 miles on a full 62 litre tank in my old E36 M3 evo cab!

As you may know I last week bought a 2004 JDM. A couple of days ago someone asked a question about speedometer etc & I answered that when the car comes into Uk & SVA conversion done, the speedo dial & digi pods will be calibrated to mp/h. (even though it will say km/h). Fine. I have verified this with my TomTom. But I also said that the odometer which records the cars total mileage (in the dash digital one) will still record the cars mileage in km/h. This is not so for my car. E.g. my cars BIMTA cert showed it had done 14,910kms at import in Jan 2006. It then had its SVA conversion done so that the speedo goes up in mp/h. The cars odometer 6 months later has now covered 16,200 kilometers. But after verifying with my TomTom & measuring known distances it is definite that the odometer is going up in miles not kilometers. Firstly is this normal for an import. Secondly to work out my correct mileage: Speedo recalibrated at 14,910km = converted into miles = 9,265m so Odometer now going up in mp/h showing 16,200m But I must take off 14,900 less 9,265 = 5,635 Therefore mileage in miles is 16,200m less 5,635m = 10,565 actual mileage in miles Is this normal & can you imagine trying to explain that lot to a perspective buyer in a few years, let alone boring you lot with open university!!

I know the UK tanks capacity is 80lites, & the JDM fuel tank is smaller, but how much smaller. Also just for reference approx how many miles do JDM owners specefically get out of a full fuel tank?

[quote name="lomoto no wouldnt get too worried ' date=' how many miles has the car done?[/quote] 16,000 km or (10,000 miles)

Ok cool, so nothing to worry about then!

What is clutch noise i.e normal clutch noise when you depress the clutch. Is it a faint mettalic scraping sound like two metal bits spinning against each other faintly. Its just that when I'm just pulling out of my drive, in 1st (or reverse) with clutch depressed (below biting point) I can hear this sound very faintly. But when you release clutch & start driving along it goes? I think its just the clutch is just a little noisey, am I right or is it something more sinister!

I hate to be a kill joy scrooge but are they really worth $98 plus postage & probably duty? What I'm going to try & do this week is remove the plastic chrome nissan emblem from the top of the centre cap, should be fairly easy. Then you can buy from anywhere, even ebay chrome or alloy lettering in different styles. Just buy four "Z" letters (should be no more than £10 total) & glue them on. If all goes well, will post pics ASAP. Save your money for a different mod..

Ordered one today from www.carbeyondstore.com $55 total Spoke to Chris, he only has the other chrome z burger type.

Sorry, didnt realise!

What a stroke of luck! Just about to look into buying a Groundink kit, looked carefully at engine & already have one, on the recently bought JDM. It looks like it is a Nismo one, it says in tiny writing what looks like "SILKO" but might be nismo? ps I am right in thinking the z had no grounding kit fitted at all from factory?
-
Bloody hell Spill there arent any mods left to do to your motor! Cool
-
Ok so the ECU cancels out the effects of any mods as it is not at all adaptive, so Iv read. This is so for e.g. fitting ram air filters etc have no use-no power gains. So does that also mean that modifying the other end of the system i.e exhaust manifolds/cats/exhaust would aslo have no effect due to ECU lamda sensors in the exhaust? If this is so & they have no horsepower increases then why are they done - simply to change the driveability/cooling/ & weight saving? It would seem that maybe a simple grounding kit & larger plenum might therefore be the best two mods unless you are changing the ECU to an aftermarket programmable one. Any thoughts, am I talking rubbish!!

I take it you haven't seen the movie HOSTEL then??? Yeah I know did you see those birds!! Worth dying for!

Once imported they adjust the speedo to go up according to mph. They then just stick a bit of black tape over k & just leave m/h showing. This means you can see how fast you are going in mph & is a legal requirement. The digital odometer which records total mileage is as was in japan & in km/h & that is how it should be. I would be wary of a car that has had its odometer changed to read in miles as you may not know its true mileage before the change. Also when selling on you dont want a note in the service book about odometer change etc, it puts buyers off. The only problem with all these as already stated is the trip computer info on the pod can be a bit unusable at first glance! Nice calculation Jim about calculating averge mpg!

Thanks mate I'l give them a try next time, thanks for the info.
