  2. Right Tim that does it.....!!! IBOUGHT THESE LASTWEEKKKKKK!!!!!!!! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: AAAHH I FEEL A LOT BETTER NOW!!!!!!!!! & I FITTED EM ON FRIDAY!!!! :yahoo::yahoo: Here comes a new topic with some initial pics (ps these wheels used to be sold as a tyre package, but after I rang up at the start of Dec 2006, I arranged a very good price for just the alloys. I think the company may have thought there may be more demand selling just the alloys instead since.)

    wheel offset

IMO better 8 on front & 9 or 9.5 on back
  4. Hmmmm shall I tell em Lomoto!!!!! :yahoo: I cant keep it in any longer, especially not after this blemin post!!!!
  5. Not sure Val, but there may be a usb to serial port adapter availiable from e.g. Maplins, worth a look on their website?

    wheel offset

Dont forget to take into account the width of the alloy, as that affects offset proportionately. e.g 9.5inch(e.g 275 tyre) wide alloy on the back & you can get away with a 20mm offset. But on a 10 inch wide rear alloy (e.g 285 tyre), a 20mm offset may stick out of the arches too much.
  7. Read this: http://www.sussexcarz.com/forum/upload1/showthread.php?t=19267 Then this: http://www.sussexcarz.com/forum/upload1/showthread.php?t=19470
  8. No power gains, but they certainly look nice & sound nice
  9. Definetley 18's will give better handling/ride than 19's on the zed, all Jap track/ tunning companies are going for 18's & even 17's. 19's may look better aesthetically as bigger proportionatley to rubber. But IMO key to having a great wheels look & stance is alloy wheel width & offset. (Especially when deciding between 18 & 19 there is not much diff. might be if e.g. 17 & 19 inch) Finally gap between arch & tyre, & z on std suspension is quite low anyway so not really such an issue in this case. IMO its just alloy/tyre width & offset that are important for that perfect stance. ps Phils is almost spot on!
  10. Coppers are gona pull u over thinkn ur growing a bit of Skunk in there while driving!
  11. Exactly, you wont get a better time than now at $2 to the £1
  12. Had mine done independent garage £180 fitted approx. (colour coded, but make sure they spray only 1 light coating & maybe 1 light coating laquer)
  13. If you are going on the track occasionally, which would entail a certain amount of abuse on alloys & tyres, I would definetley have two sets of wheels. One set of 17" standard JDM or even 16" cheap lightweight rims with good tyres with a good profile e.g 45/or 50 profile. Then another set for everyday posing situations! These IMO would be best in 19" or if you want to be daring even 20"!! But thats just my 2p's worth ps also 2nd set good for winters for grip in snow etc & to protect your expensive set from salt corrosion
  14. 490bhp & no forced induction.?? Ah yeah just saw the picture.
  15. Heres a sneak preview for all you inquisitive people!! ps though I have cut out the interesting bits for later!!
  16. Will do Tim, (Costco). Do those festoon ebay ones fit to replace the boot light sh&t bulb?
  17. Yeah I did my bulbs from funkystyling (though not as good as those ones ), but I just couldnt resist that colour, match was near spot on! 3 pack for the same price!!!!!! How can mr bargainhunter moi get outbargained!! I was in Costco last week
  18. I thought Id give Liam a run for his money for Lomotos Crown with this: I just went into B&Q & picked up the coolest little mod. Its a tiny little round disc kinda thing called Dot-it by Osram. It is in fact a 3 Led cluster that you push down to turn on & off & the case comes in yellow; white; purple &........SUNSET orange!!! (So ideal for me & Tim!) Perfect little interior extra light; just wondering whether to put near windscreen or better still stick to underside of sunglasses cubby hole above head. Best bit only £4.98!!
  19. Got delivery this morning Those 275/35/19's are massive!!!! Ordered the AF-250 (stops corrosion on stainless steel lip/dish) spray yesterday.
  20. Unneceasry apart from noise on Zed!! Here comes the by all popcharger owners!
  21. BollO%! Looks like the front spoiler is a Lego made item
  22. The understeer is something I have read about a couple of times & was something they were discussing once on a Palmer motorsport day I went on, but I suppose they were comparing the zed to the twitchy oversteer of a ferrari 360 etc
  23. Cheers all for advice. After doing some research and getting advice from you guys on the forum I decided that the rears choice was simple the front a little more complicated. The (19" on 9.5" width alloy / 20mm offset allround) rears would be very good in 275/35 but I would have prefered maybe 285 purely for more rim protection. But there are not that many companies that produce 285/35 size & they are more costly. The fronts are a difficult choice for me due to comfort, understeer & TCS/Rolling Radius issues. Due to the weight of the engine being over the front wheels & the obvious forces on the tyres on hard braking; cornering; & the most of all the crappy bumpy roads around here, I preferd not to go for 40 & not 35 profile. I also had to keep the rolling radius within certain limits so that the Traction control doesnt get confused & start cutting in unnecceasarily. Finally there was post earlier this year by CDR_UK which was quite useful & made me think of understeer issues - It is known that there is a excessive turn in understeer when pushed hard so CDR following Japanese tunning company examples reduced the sidewall height of the front tyres. So he went down to 40 profile on the front to stiffen the sidewalls & keeping the tyre width the same. I have gone down to 40 profile but have unfortunately increased width to 245. I wanted 225 or 235 but due to my budget on tyres I had to get what they had at the price which was 245/40. When the next tyre change comes round I will go to 225 (or maybe 235 for rim protection?) with the 40 profile. By increasing the width of the front tyres I am only adding to the understeer problem, therefore keeping the width to 225 & stiffening the sidewall height by going down to 40 would have been ideal. There are also greater rolling road differences with 245/40 rather than 235 or 225 / 40. (re: Rochford tyres tyres sive calculator) http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/tyrecalc.asp. On the topic of tyres size calculators: I first worked out diff betwwen old fronts & new fronts & then old rears & new rears diff. Made sure these were not too much. Then the diff between old fronts & old rears figure (due to stagger & profile diff) should be as close to the new diff between front & rear figure. This would have been ideal with 235/40 on the front. Yes £400 is a great price, should be delivered to me on Monday. Alloys arrived yesterday & they are lovely!!!! B) With the alloys I ordered locking nuts, I just have to order that AF-250 spray & find a good place to do a full laser alignment & fitting. My local fitter is good but doesnt have those expensive laser machines. Final question I'l need to address are tyre pressures which can be trial & error, but any help appreciated to get me started
