  1. Ah, the old "I bought my son a toy that I really wanted for myself" excuse.... Works great with Train sets Scalextrix Radio controlled cars/boats/planes/helicopters games consoles Oh and kites! that is until you fall 8 foot of a skate ramp and cant walk for 2 weeks.... Sorry this response was so I shall now go and myself
  2. The higher octane fuel is less prone to "knock" the common name for spontaneous combustion of the fuel/air charge. To combat knock the ECU retards (delays) the spark amongst other things to reduce cylinder pressure resulting in reduced power. A "knock sensor" on the engine tells the ECU if this situation is occuring. With higher octane fuel the ECU can advance the timing further before the onset of "knock" occurs. I honestly believe I can feel the diference but saying that, as another thread on here indicated, there can be 17bhp difference in engine power between a hot and a cold day due to the density of the air getting to the engine. I'll get my coat...
  3. You were heading northbound toward Aldermaston, 2 UP, I was in a rental so you wouldnt have spotted me!
  4. Which course you doing? The bowl is a laugh but somewhat disorientating, I was doing 126mph in an Alfa (70mph lane) and you were not even aware of the speed. Also curious to know what you paid if you dont mind me asking???? Back on topic, what frustrates me about these cases is that if the treatment of this guy is inequitous with the general public it results in a loss in respect for the police and the establishment as a whole. If the police cant abide by their own rules then why should we? A fair question????
  5. Cool! Need to be careful which software you run though..... colleague of mine has no issue running TomTom on his XDA mini, but Navman will not talk to his Bluetooth GPS. The phone can see it but Navman cannot map the port.
  6. 6pm tonight, you were heading south towards Hook. I was the idiot on the northbound carriageway waving at you like an epileptic muppet, you were either ignoring me or lost in the pleasure of your Zed....
  7. Some phones will provide multiple "ports". These are mapped to different logical interfaces. It does vary from phone to phone. The more advanced models (ie an XDA or XDA Mini) will happily talk to both a bluetooth headset and a bluetooth GPS.
  8. You were coming of the roundabout heading toward Newton Abbot.
  9. Thursaday, ~9:30 am. GM coupe "PAZxxxx", Rowstock Nissan plate. On M4 we both joined in Reading and I followed you at 70mph (ahem) all the way to Langley where we both left and eventually spilt heading into Langley itself.
  10. I'd go along with urbanmyth, my previous car was a turbo and it was fine if you drove it off boost for the last few minutes before reaching your destination to cool down. Unfortunately this was also the best bit if my journey so I arrived at the office on more than one occasion with smoking brake disc's etc and strange looks from the security guard and the odd question of "whats that burning smell?" Had to sit in the car park for it to cool off......
  11. D'you know I thought the same thing! Have seen lots of articles that mention it, but have no idea if I have it. If its an optional extra probably not!
  12. Similar experience..... I had a "benq", ate cells, binned it.
  13. Does anyone know if the tyre pressure warning will work with any aftermarket wheels or only Nissan/Nismo supplied wheels? And how exactly does it work??????

Thanks Sarnie, so is there a different method to remove then? I assume the two holes are left because of some kind of through-body fixing? Do I need to "undo" something from inside the boot or is it just a push fit item? Clearly whatever I replace it with will cover the holes but it does mean if I wanted a debadged look I have to fill them and paint...

Please would someone explain the following statement from that guide..... Which badge is it that leaves 2 holes? The central nissan one or the "350z" one on the left? I'm confused (easily done)
  21. Hello and welcome..... There is a thread here about bonsai, have a read..... http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2374 I dont know them myself but a few members on here have used them so I'm sure they will be along soon.
  22. and there is a review of one here..... http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/reradiating.php
  23. This says it better than me! http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/ifi/enforcement/gpsrepeaters/ I am sure there were some passive ones floating about when I used to run a morpheous geodesy speed cam detector. I'll have a nose...... Basically an antenna you can position for best reception (even outside the car), which retransmits the signal inside your car to improve reception.
  24. So long as the device has a reasonable view of the sky it will work fine, what that means in practice is no conductive obstructions that would prevent the radio frequency passing through. So plastic (your cubby lid) and glass offer minimal attenuation of the signal. I have had a surprising amount of sucess with a gps receiver sat in the centre cupholder/tray. I didnt expect it to work I was trying to find a more permanent position but found it worked a treat and have driven hundreds of miles with it sat there. (Sirf III chipset which is regarded as more sensitive than some). You can always get a gps repeater as has already been suggested but these are currently up for debate as they are unlicensed and in breach of the wireless telegraphy act (not that anyone will catch you if you drive fast enough )
