Not North Manchester young man, geordie land, Newcastle upon Tyne. Thanks for the thought though! In actual fact Ive a mate who has a mate who does body work and I could take it there but because Im also thinking of having the front bumper repainted I got the main dealer to price the two jobs while I was in one day. Thanks Stanski. It’s a small dent that happened when I reversed out of the garage and into the plastic front bumper insert of the wife’s car. I did get a quote last week at the main dealers for £182. Might give it a try, anyway, nothing much to loose

Put a small dent in the rear plastic bumper. Anyone got any idea if this could be removed by heating it and pushing it out or is it a body shop job?

Just got off the phone to Steve at Holdcroft ref the rear lights. Their quoted price for the pair is £237.64 incl of vat and delivery. Apparently there taking 35% off as the usual retail price would be £361.82. He confirmed that they are Nissan originals and that a small amount of plastic has to be cut from the connecting plug. Didn’t get into group buys as Shire 350Z is going down that route.

Been reading this with interest but getting a little confused. I’ve seen the Holdcroft lights on ebay for £229.99 + £8.99 delivery. Since they give members a 20% discount I assume the total delivered cost will be £229.99 – 20% = £183.99 + £8.99 = £ 192.98. Why pay £240? Or am I missing something

Top man, thanks for that Andy, I think I'll order a set... Ditto. I think I'll go for thr Holdcroft lights as well. Thanks for everyones input. Cheers
-
These look quite good but not sure about ordering from the States. Had a quick look for shipping charges but couldn’t find any info. I'll take another look. Cheers mate

Thanks for the contribution but not my taste I’m afraid

Where’s the best place to get a deal on LED rear lights cos I’m thinking of fitting some?

Fifty quid can’t be bad. On reflection I think I’ve been ripped. When I took the car in for an estimate I agreed with this guy that the best option was to cut out and replace the whole flanged assembly, that’s why I mentioned it in my earlier post. When I picked the car up this guy's buddy had done the job and said it was OK. Taking the picture surprised me and highlighted that the job had been done differently. Think I’ll go back and complain.

Cool looks like ill need to get mine welded. Can you get a photo on the job, interested on what it looks like. £120! If i go somewhere else other than the dealer surely i could get it done easily under £100?? Sorry for the delay, Ive been away. Not much good with the old computer but I'll try to get a pic posted. Wish I hadn’t bothered taking the pic now cos its confused me. The st st bit seems to have been welded on the good end of the exhaust while the end that was damaged looks to be the original flange (which I know for sure was broken). Anyway this is the repair. Hope it helps and hope the pic size is ok as the original was to big and had to get my daughter to crop it for me.

If you are looking in Newcastle then you should use ESR. An excellent job, nice cup of coffee, and done by people who know about the car (and not some monkey who wants to hop in and burn off your car in a 'road test' as soon as you aren't looking - yes it does happen). They aren't Nissan dealers but they will use Nissan part and not invalidate your warranty. You will also get good oil, not the cheap castor oil that Nissan have in 50 gallon drums and use for the micra upwards. I can't think why anyone would chance a dealer in Newcastle when ESR are local. I think I'll probably stay with a Nissan Dealer for now (resale and all that)but could possibly use them in future. Where are they cos I’ve never heard of them. Is ESR the company name or an abbreviation?

You won’t believe this but I actually had this very same idea myself some years ago while sitting in the bath. Unfortunately though I got so engrossed and amused by the bubbles produced when I farted that I decided to concentrate on this phenomenon to make my first million. Still haven’t found a way of getting them bubbles into a bottle though Anyway---Its got to be true! Were still in MARCH.

Been getting prices for my Z's P3 service in Newcastle on Tyne. Best price from Vic Young South Shields (yet again)£249 all in Other prices ranged £289, £295, and £307. Just shows what we have to pay for the dolly bird at reception, certificates on the wall, TV, papers and coffee machines.

Same happened with mine (2004). Took it to the local exhaust dealer to have it checked out and he said this was a common problem on the Z. There is a flange connection between the back box and the piece of exhaust pipe running down the centre of the car to the engine Y section. The flanges on these two pieces bolt together. The flange, on the back box end of this connection, had broken away from the exhaust pipe. They cut out the complete old flange connection, made a new one from stainless and welded it in. Perfect job costing £120 if memory serves. The back box itself was sound, just as well because a new one was quite expensive (around £300 I believe) and would have taken a couple of days to be delivered

Maybe she's whipping up the mud a bit more before the wrestling starts. If she keeps her foot on the accelerator much longer the match could be staged inside the car

The cars done just over 30K now Liam. I’ve just had it down to Tyre Spot, out local tyre/exhaust dealer. The back box itself is sound; the blowing noise is coming from the first flange joint at the inlet to the box. The flange connection (box side) has cracked; apparently they’ve seen this before and said it was a common place for them to go. They offered to cut out this flange and insert a piece of st st pipe incorporating another flange which would cost approx £75 or to fit a stainless steel back box for £375. He did say the new box would sound throatier though. Decision time

Well to be honest I wasn’t thinking about an old one, but thanks for the thought, The ebay item’s what I’m after but since my car’s an 04 with 30K on it I think this one might be a little close to death itself. I’m off to Tyre Spot in the morning to have it checked and see where the problem actually is. By the way, rang C.E.S in Chester, their delivered price incl vat is £281. That would leave me £114 to have it fitted---might do it myself and go out for a good drink on what’s left. What colour car do you have Toon Chris I’ll keep an eye open for it, mines gunmetal. Just look for a devastatingly handsome, highly intelligent but slightly numerically challenged body driving it and that’ll be me Dicky

Just noticed the exhaust sounds a bit raspier than normal and assume the back box might be leaking somewhere. Anyone recommend a company offering reasonable priced parts? The best dealer price so far is £395 and the from other is Kwick Fit at £320 fitted incl vat I live in Newcastle upon Tyne Cheers Dicky
-
So---It’s not worth the cost. I’ve been quoted £276 for a bumper respray from my local stealer, so assuming the color match is ok that’s the way to go. Ive been thinking of getting a new Z and would poss consider having it done only because the bumper chips up quite quickly (even when keeping long gaps to the car in front). You get a bit disheartened when polishing the car over the yrs of ownership and cringing when you see the mess the bumper gets in.

Just wondering if those guys who had the paint protective film fitted to the front end; still think it was money well spent. Does it do what it says on the tin ?

I’ve read stuff about Bridgestone’s and wet weather in the past but decided to fit them again cos I was getting good mileage out of them. I wasn’t racing this Citroen either just keeping pace with it going around the bend. I certainly won’t be repeating it; the car broke free long before I would have expected it. I’m a bit past racing now but for anyone who has Bridgestone’s fitted and is in to a bit of competitive driving I would certainly recommend you take note of what the guys are saying hear.
-
Powered around a tight corner a bit too enthusiastically this afternoon (following a citroen going just as fast) and the back end broke free . Got the shock of my life. No doubt my superior driving skills saved the day, or it might have had a little to do with traction control. Oh alright I was hanging on, and screaming, but I didn’t cry, honest. Anyway I’ve now got a better idea of its limits in the wet. and yes I do have Bridgestone’s on I am a Lucky Dicky

Update for your information. Had a result with Nissan regarding the left hand speaker problem due to the iffy Clarion CD head unit. There prepared to offer, as a gesture of good will, 75% of the cost. This works out at £85 to me and there going to fit a brand new unit, which apparently replaces the former less reliable CD head unit.
