EFA What and be totally humiliated? She'll expect me to make dinner next

You can now see why a throttle body clean is maybe a step to far! Think I'll just tick to just washing it once a week. ha ha

Fitted LED side lights a couple of wks ago....lovely. Noticed the offside one wasn't working the other day so adopted the first rule of fault finding and ....GAVE IT A HARD BANG, which brought it on again. So today, while still recovering from the worst dose of cold know to mankind, I decided to sort it. It's only a five minute job anyway, jack the car, wheel off, liner pulled back, no probs ! Having got the jack out of the boot, all enthusiasm, energy and interest in the project drains from me completely, I consider putting the jack back...cos Im not well U know, nd theres snow all around nd it freezing as well. But no, Im a Geordie boy, freezing snow and sub zero temperatures don't scare us......gulp. So know I'm twisting the lamp holder to remove it for inspection, thinking " nearly finished, soon be having another Lemsip". The lamp holder as it happens was a bit reluctant to come out so I gave it ever such a little tug................have U guessed yet?..............yep you've got it the led lamp dropped out and into the far reaches of the headlamp unit........Oh bugger I said to myself.........that's made the job damed interesting ! Never mind though I've got a huge double skinned 1/2" hole to work through so no worries. 3 hrs, reels of sticky tap and bent bits of wire later I was still tussling with this interesting little conundrum......oh the joy of it. Frantically thinking over my options.........Head light will have to come out, bugger, the bumper will have to come off as well.....bugger, but there's no room to swing a cat in the garage, bugger, bugger squared ! Just then the light of my life, my little home maker came up with a winner, only to embarrass, humiliate, and demonstrate her intellectual superiority you understand, "why don't U use that bendy grabby tool thingy pet" "the one up there on the wall" Well another hr or so later Im in the bath defrosting and reminiscing on what a lovely little day Ive had, wrestling with this 5 min little job..................can't wait to check the other side !

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I don't think there to bad although I do prefer the led version. You go for it Roberto

So thats how it works.......Very interesting

Just been to get a quote to wrap all the centre console parts from the gear leaver surround, the cubby cover up to the 3 gauge binicle at the top ( not including the Bose system) The guy said wrapping was out as the plastic surfaces were dimpled and the wrap wouldn't adhere properly leaving air bubbles where the dimples are. He suggested having the plastic bits hydro dipped. Anyone had this done? Is it any good? And is he right about wrapping these bits? Cos I've read on here that others have had these bits wrapped?

WELL IT'S OFFICIAL...........I HAVE LOST THE PLOT.........being a retired electronics engineer you would think I'd know which way the battery should be fitted ! ! Turned it around and hey presto it works. Good job I'm retired and can't do any more damage ha ha

Has anyone been successful in reprogramming their key? As I said above I've tryed the procedure posted on this site but no luck. Just got off the phone to the stealer who wants £52 to re-programme my key. Any help welcome

Job done. The car's done about 56k now but the MAF looked very clean. The diode looking device must be a thermistor. I was expecting to see a fine wire. Also there didn't appear to be any obviouse air path across the device as the front was open exposing the diode looking device to the air intake flow but the back of it is closed?

I'm using CRC MAF cleaner.thanks all for your input I'll give it a clean this morning

Fitted "flyboy's" air box mod today, easy peasy to install. Anyway thought I'd clean the MAF while I was on but was surprised by the look of it. I'd expected to see a thin wire mounted across the pipe but its in fact an oblong shaped box assembly which juts out into the pipe with what looks like a diode exposed to the air flow. This " maf box" is open at one end and closed at the other ( thought the air was supposed to flow over it ?) Anyway if anyone has cleaned this I'd appreciate your putting my mind at rest by telling me its ok to spray it with my new can of MAF cleaning spray.

Looks like I'm winning at 9yrs come April. Still love it so not looking to sell. Not worth it anyway. Where would I get a car that still looks great and I know has been well looked after for £7k - £8k ?

I opened the car using the Key fob then after driving home it wouldn't lock it again. This happened years ago and I got the garage to sort it. This time I had a go myself using the posted "ID Code Entry Procedure" for UK cars. Put key in ignition sw Turned from Unlock to On 6x within 10sec and back to unlock Turn signals flashed twice (as they should) Held key fob unlock button while pressing the lock button 3x ( no flashing indicators) Turned key to on and indicators flashed. Removed the key and tried it but no joy Anyone spot a mistake or got a suggestion ?

Giving your assessment of the car I would say the price was a bit high. I can't claim to be an expert but the following would worry me. 1. A new clutch, and disc,s with less than 42K on the clock.....was the flywheel also changed? could it have been thrashed? 2. Service history.....main dealer ? 3. Knocking exhaust and dent....has it been looked after and why hasn't a guy who specialises on Z's fixed the exhaust before selling? 4. Air bag light flashing....could be nothing but could be expensive...if nothing why didn't he bother fixing it himself before selling it on? 5. Don't know what banana bars are? Just my own suspicious opinion but I would be on guard.

I spun my car one wet day travelling very steady around a long slow bend. I fitted 20mm spacers all round and my cornering confidence level shot up. I was running the same tyres and when taking the same bend in the wet and on several occasions had no incident at all even when pushing well beyond my previouse speed.

Be honest! Wasnt this just a cunning plan to provide the old man with a fast track to the washing up!!!

Haven't seen a circuit diagram for the mirror control so can't be specific, however I do know that the mirror dc motor will run slow with reduced torque If it is not receiving the full voltage. This could be caused by worn motor brushes ( check the voltage to the motor when operating..I would assume it should be 12v). If it is then suspect the motor (assuming no additional mechanical resistance present) If the voltage is low then there must be a high resistance in the wiring to it (corroded connection/loose connection/ dry solder joint) When you lock/ unlock the doors using the key fob a micro switch supplied as part of the folding mirror kit causes the relays on the kit circuit board to operate, so check the operation of the micro switch first (do the doors lock/unlock?) Best I can do for now.

I believe these headlights use a ballest to ignite the vapour within the lamp then keep it running in much the same way as a fluorescent light works. I'm thinking it might be a faulty ballest or loose connection to it. Do both lights flicker or just the one ? ( not sure if there's a ballest for each headlight or one for both)

Like this for smile ? What a pain. Thanks guys

Anyone know why I can't add these to my posts using my ipad ???

Obvious, maybe, ........but it still made me smile

Looks good but what's the advantage over normal spray painting? Does it resist chipping better?

I've got the k&n panel filter, the Motordyne plenum spacer, and just waiting for my original exhaust to fail (8yrs old now) when I'm going to have a st st exhaust fitted. Then it's UPREV time. Not looking for huge gains more interested in knowing that the engine performance is optimised. I've read about the 06 air box benefits and the kit that you and flyboy manufactured and was just wondering if there performance was proved or not. It would be interesting to tune the car with and without the mod to evaluate it but I suppose that would be expensive. Given the velocity stack kit is relatively cheap it's probably worth just fitting it.
