  1. Further to this on a JDM (2002) - I only have a single key for my car and am paranoid about losing it - I have just been reading a post about getting a blank key cut (ebay key) and reprogramming the key fob etc - does this reprogramming simple do the buttons (ie remote unlock etc) or does it also program the new transponder for the immobiliser? Like you, my import came with only one key, which operates the doors etc., and both the original immobiliser and the Toad alarm/immobiliser fitted at SVA. However, I persuaded my importer to get me a spare key and have it programmed by Nissan. This works fine but it doesn't operate as a remote to open the doors - just disarms the immobilisers and turns the ignition. It cost them a fair bit for that so I didn't push for anything more at the time. I just hope that the main key/remote keeps on working and I don't lose it!
  2. Found this and yes, it's a splice harness job, unless you get a piggyback harness thing like the guy did in this thread. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/83619-how-in ... encer.html I think most of what you need was covered in this thread, although I think that the actual UK installation guide was only available from Big Phil if you contacted him directly. Not possible now, I'm afraid, unless anyone else on here has kept a copy of the guide. viewtopic.php?f=37&t=9086&hilit=KHS+speed+defencer&start=15

    Carbon fibre vinyl?

I've tried that, but nothing seems to be budging. To be honest, I'm frightened to push too hard in case I break it, but it doesn't look hopeful.

    Carbon fibre vinyl?

I've had a look, but I don't think it is that easy. See the photo below.

    Carbon fibre vinyl?

Never thought of that - will have a look at it later. It would certainly help to make a much neater job.

    Carbon fibre vinyl?

Here's my first attempt. It's not easy, but now I know the difficult areas I might have another go and see if I can make the next one a bit tidier. Thanks to rtbiscuit for the vinyl.
  7. +1 on both issues. There is an ecu reset procedure and a throttle position reset procedure - see the guides section on here. I would also check the oil level - I had a lot of trouble with my previous car (not a Z) when a similar tiptronic box failed due to lack of oil.
  8. That's the stuff I use. Works fine.

What a great advert for this forum and its members. Good luck with the Z - it looks great.

    Brake Fluid??

I'm no expert, but I've picked up a lot of sound advice on here, and from what I recall, it would be safer to stick to the recommended Nissan fluids unless you intend to track the car. There is no difference between the UK and JDM fluid requirements as far as I know.
  11. I take it you have checked the gearbox oil level?
  12. Washing, polishing, waxing cars...oh, sorry, you mean apart from that? Photography; Playing guitar, saxophone, clarinet; golf; occasional hillwalking; walking the dog.

    Alloys....

+1 and you have a pm, Alex.
  14. You mean you won the lottery? not yet but i'm working on it! Aren't we all?
  15. I picked up one of these in Halfords the other day as part of their three for two deal. Tried it briefly on the alloys and seemed pretty good! Will give it a proper test next weekend.
  16. I pm'd him at the weekend and am waiting for a reply. Was beginning to wonder because he usually gets right back. Good to know he is ok - busy is fine!
  17. Jim, I think the UK cars with washer reservoirs can be aa little more problematic The JDM has a washer reservoir on the driver's side, and it is fairly straightforward to get access.
  18. to the forum. Should get answers to most questions on here.
  19. You mean you won the lottery?
  20. Not sure whether to laugh or cry after reading that!!!
