  1. Success! Thanks lomoto. Jim
  2. Tried again, and re-applied the signature on radio button. Jim
  3. Yes - done that a number of times, but no luck so far. Jim
  4. I agree entirely which is why I check the forum every night when I can. I have learned so much about the car in this way! Jim
  5. Guys, Sorry to go over old ground again, but I have added a line to the Signature section in "Edit Your Profile" but it has not appeared on my posts. Am I missing something obvious here? Jim
  6. Yes I dont know what rust proofing or underseal they put on UK standard.. my car has no underseal whatsoever.. and to be honest it will stay this way as I have no intention of using it in bad weather (ie salty roads).. but for a 4 year old car I can tell you it looks brand new underneath I dont think the Japs put salt on their roads!! My car was undersealed by the importer when it was imported. The FAQs page from their website explains all. http://www.mackaytrading.co.uk/faqs.asp Jim
  7. Thought I had come across this before. This was posted by Steve-B in January. "Fuel tank size is different as well with the JDM I think. One thing that I would consider a must for a JDM is check about wether it has the same rust protection as a uk car. Some imports dont have a good protection in that area. Consider wax oil if this is the case." Jim
  8. I've used Autosol for years, and always found it restored chrome or other metals very well. Used it when I got my Z 3 months ago, and have only just had to give it another clean last weekend. Jim
  9. Me too. My JDM was converted at SVA - the mileage equates with that shown on the BIMTA certificate, and the odometer is going up in miles. I thought the tank only held 60 litres as well. Anybody know the right answer? Jim
  10. Badges received intact this morning. Probably be the weekend before I get them fitted - need to borrow the wife's hairdryer again to get the old ones off! Jim
  11. I take your point about changing the odometer. However, most good importers should be using the BIMTA certification to give you some peace of mind that the mileage shown is accurate. It's obviously a different question if you import it yourself. Jim
  12. Anybody had any experience of their work in this area? Or are there good paintshops who do similar work? My GM has a couple of minor scratches and blemishes that need attention and I would like to use somebody reliable to do the work. Jim
  13. I would agree with lomoto - you'll not worry about it after a while. I tend to keep it on the mph readout as it is a more accurate check as you approach speed cameras As far as the other readouts go on that dial, as far as ai can work out, the DTE is in kms., the average speed is in kph and the fuel consumption is in kilometres per litre. You can convert that by multiplying the figure by 4.5 (litres to gallons) then dividing by 5/8 (kilometres to miles). That gives me a return of around 27 or 28 mpg on Optimax if I don't play too hard! Using ordinary unleaded gives a poorer return, I find. By the way, mine is also a JDM import with Tiptronic, and I think it is great. There seem to be quite a few out there, judging by some of the posts in recent weeks. If you check websites of importers such as Bristol Import Centre you will see there is a fair turnover of Tiptronics which somebody out there must be driving. Enjoy the Z - we all do! Jim
  14. Me too, Vern, by about 20 years! Still, you're only as old as the Z you drive, or something like that. Jim
  15. That's good news, because I wasn't too impressed with earlier dealings with AC at Stirling. I was thinking about getting the importer to do the next service anyway. Jim
  16. I agree. I looked at them too but decided against it. Even if they looked better, where would you mount one? Jim
  17. Yep, Mike is spot on - engaging this button allows you to stay in a lower gear for longer. Take my advice, though, and don't mess about with this when the roads are wet - you can lose the back end very easily if you hit the loud pedal too quickly! Jim
  18. Just had alook at the Visionbilbs site. As far as I can see, the price for a pair of H7 bulbs at 4300k is £58.
  19. I have had a tiptronic JDM import for 3 months now. It's 3 years old but is in very good nick and I am delighted with it. I had it serviced at the importers and intend to go back there for future servicing. I intend keeping it for a long time so I'm not too worried about any slight problem with selling it on later. I chose the tiptronic because, despite enjoying controlling many cars over the years, I now have a slight back problem which is made worse by using a clutch. I am really pleased with the 'box in the Z. It gives very smooth changes which allows you to drive efforlessly in heavy traffic, yet you can switch to tiptronic mode when you want to "play" and it responds really well. It is a much better 'box than the one in my previous car, a Honda Prelude, which I thought then was pretty good. Whatever, yopu decide, I'm sure you will have great fun in it - just watch your licence! Jim
  20. Around 5.00 pm today, heading east. I was going west, flashed lights before remembering I was in my wife's car. Jim
  21. Just told my wife about this thread and she immediately recognised the pattern. Her journey to work every day is blighted by idiots driving like that. Most of them, she claims, are middle-aged men in bog standard middle of the road cars (Skodas, Rovers and the like). I think a lot of these stupid people think that the national speed limit is 50 mph. There should be an IQ test before you are allowed to drive!
  22. Where is the advice on this? I have tried the modifications area in vain to find it? Jim

    Parcel Shelf

Wish I had the time to consider something like that! Most of the costs would be for time. The materials were very cheap - MDF at £3.99 and black materials at £5.00, although the appearance could be improved by using leather or leatherette materials. They would of course be harder to work with than cloth. Jim

Here's how it looks in the car.
