I think it's horses for courses. I understand what you're saying re imported cars and now as UK spec Zeds are also coming down in price it's probably fair to say that spending that little bit more for a UK version makes sense, but when you are talking resale values etc - because you paid cheap in the first place I don't think this factor is that relevant? Do you think I will have a big problem then in a couple of years or less when I come to sell mine? If I were to PX for another Nissan at a Nissan dealer think they will give me a better price for say one of their second hand UK Zeds as opposed to going to another non Nissan dealer? I just can't understand why people won't touch an import especially as it comes from Japan as the general consensus is they look after their vehicles better? Anyone agree?

Real ball breaker when someone goes into your pride and joy! Still waiting for the second lot of reapir work to be done on mine from a learner driver which ploughed into it - 1st repair work was shoddy - hence re doing! Note the incident dates back to April 06! Hope you get it all sorted mate!

I think the concerning thing is yes we all bought Zeds but there are certain people who feel that because we went the import route the car doesn't stack up as well as the UK which is b**** ! I have the T version and so what it doesn't come with Brembos, stability (thought it did??), and a few other bits and pieces. This certainly doesn't warrant the steep price difference from UK to JDM assuming same year, same condition and same mileage as Lomoto says. The Zed originated from Japan I think!! so how can buying an import Zed not be the real deal? End of the day people whether it be UK or Jap I'd rather drive one of these than one of your run of the mill cars which seem to dominate the landscape!

I now have a problem in that because I am on 3 network my sim will only work with certain 3 phones!! Great!! I am looking to change my network once my contract expires but this won't be until end of year. If anything changes I will let you know as I am interested. Thanks Nick

Mines a JDM and I have the adaptor in the centre console, whether it works for UK phone tech though is a different matter - anyone know?
-
Hi mate Is this still for sale? I've got a JDM import - think this will still work? Regards Nick - 07767447337

I've had a TT, RX8, STI Type UK, Cupra R, Megane 225, and although not originally what I was looking for I ended up with a triptronic Zed and for me it's by far the best drive, I don't even miss the changing of gears as you have the straight upward tiptronic which feels almost the same. Also because i travel a long way to work and get stuck on the notorious M25 it's a breeze driving it! Also it's potently quick off the lights as there's no clutch work involved! Each to their own but it's a great drive! Hope you enjoy your test drive like I did! Nick

Mighty Z - What is it you have against the Zed imports as I'm getting the impression you have one? Not an attack just curious??
-
Thanks Sarnie, not even sure this is the problem - if one at all,I've got to get the tracking sorted out on the car when it's back from repair (second time as original repair work from insurance was shabby) so will get them to take a look. It's a specialist JDM workshop / garage so they should know what they're talking about - just don't wanna be taken to the cleaners!!

Did the searches but this rear axles problem tends to be a cling noise but mine is a definitive clunk usually only happens once like when you're about to drive off. I've let it go in the past but the post about rear axle problem has got me thinking! Not sure whether to leave it or not? I've had the car recently delimited (noise was happening before this) do you think these guys would of sussed out a problem when they were doing this work?
-
Sounds like that could be on mine!! how to I get this confirmed and what would be the likely cause?

"Bought my uk spec gt for 17k with 14k on the clock paid cash though The z market at the moment is slower than the buses in nottingham the same cars have been on autotrader for months now. NO one seems to be buying the imports I would definatley go for a uk spec. Most the jap one's for sale are'nt even real Z's i.e no brembo's ,edc or in some cases no decent lsd" Arent even real Zeds??? what are they then Mini's in disguise??? Zeds are born in Japan aren't they so they're about as real as you get! Ok you don't get Brembos and rear spoiler etc.. but For info the JDM Zed has more break horse power than the pre 2004 Zeds and you tend to get more for your money (see the JDM differences link) even if they are hard to shift at the moment. Saying that 17.5k for a UK Zed is a good price.

How'd you mean clicky axles? those of you who know I've got a triptronic JDM Zed and am occassionally noticing a kinda clunk sound when I'm about to drive off sometimes (no jokes please like I've run over the cat or the other half) wondered what this could be? (and by the way sorry for stealing the thread - might be of interest to this?) Cheers

Yep know what you mean. Don't get me wrong I love any Zed - think they're one of the sexiest motors on the road but kinda thing the coupe keeps the curves more! Word of warning if you do end up going the import route - try and make sure they include radio frequency conversion, Sat Nav (conversion if you want it), rear spoiler, included in the price! cos I ended up spending a little more than I originally antcipated getting these bit's sorted. Cheers

Sorry fella - forgot to say which one - fifth one down I think!! The JDM pearl colured Roadster one looks nice in alzean leather - low miles and practicaly spanking new!!
-
Just found this - sit's within your budget - I'm pretty sure it's UK. Not leather though. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/ca ... ull=SEARCH

Sorry to hear about this mate! Total wan*ers!! I remember when I had my Renault 19 a few years back - some low lifes keyed the car and then nicked the stereo! F**ing twa* f**ers! If I caught erm doing it I'd rip their heads off! Had what looked like my Zed had been keyed recently until I noticed a pertruding branch which just sticks out on one of these country roads on the way to work - pretty sharp! Absolutely sure it wasn't one of these? Guess you'd of heard it though?!

"Pmsl, 35 uk gt spec i have seen private for £17k so it is doable, and thats with 20k miles" Sounds like a bargain - subject to condition. Back to original question - sounds like NOWwould therefore be a good time to go for one!!!
-
Not sure you'll be able to match an import spec with a UK spec for £17 - £18k unless it's done high mileage. I did a quick check on AutoTrader earlier and it seemed to come up with the above conclusion. Could be wrong though especially if you buy privately and have cash in hand. What are your prefered colors? Just off the track slightly and of no help I'm afraid but I see TT prices have gone down since the launch of the new shape. Quatrro Sport (240 PS) around the £19k figure!! - NO COMPARISON TO THE ZED THOUGH!
-
"Anyone know what the Top Gear track times are on them??" I'm not sure, but also wouldn't mind knowing track time for the Crossfire if they have done already?
-
I quite like the look of the Crossfire but wouldn't even contemplate swapping for the Zed. As someone says yesterday's Merc?! I've never been in a Boxster S or for that matter Cayman but would imagine they are pretty amazing cars. I have a mate who lives in Bristol who owns an R Reg 996 who had a play in the Zed. Deep down I think he secretly lusts after it and when you put the two cars together they don't look too dissimillar. I've seen the new shape TT on the roads - gotta say I like it - just like when the original came out (before they became as common as fu** - I once owned a LHD import) How would the new TT stack up against the Zed?
-
How'd you think the Crossfire stacks up against the Zed? Looks, Handling, power, interior, exterior? Interested in opinions! and then what do you think is the Zed's closest rival is?

Just rang Nissan - £28.99 + VAT. However wouldn't these be just as good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOCKING-WHEEL-NUT ... dZViewItem or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-LOCKING-AL ... dZViewItem

Hey Nikos I'm based in Bedfordshire (near Milton Keynes). Do you wanna PM me?
-
Couldn't find a forum on security. I'm after a set of locking wheel nuts for my 18" Nissan Rays I bought second hand a while ago. Anyone got any recommendations? or are selling any? Presume any which fit the 350z will be compatible with these alloys? Cheers
