  2. Mine is worth it for the entertainment value alone... "Dial Name" says I "Pardon" says the bint "Dial Name" says I "Pardon" says the bint (repeat 3 or 4 more times) "Dial Name" says I "The name please" says the bint, finally "Roger" says I "Home" says the bint Cue much falling about laughing - not The best way is to record the names at your typical driving speed - seems to work better then.
  3. I did a similar thing with my old Navman iCN520. I ran a lead for an external aerial up to the ledge between the B and C pillars. Pretty stealthy and gives a good signal. Only slight niggle was making up a surround to fill the space between the sat nav and the inside of the cubby hole. Looks ok though.
  4. £170+vat sounds fair to me. I've had quotes for the 2 tiny dings in my bonnet to be repaired with a respray for £275+vat. How come Paintshield can have brilliant Customer service like this when few others can ??? They've got some great people working for their outlets/franchisees/resellers. Top marks
  5. Tahoe is cool, but which resort??? Heavenly is as its name suggests, but Alpine Meadow is quaint (and quiet) but Sierra is best IMO. Look out for lift pass deals in the local ski shops too - last year was $50 - $60 a day full whack. If you're flying to SFO you can look forward to a 4-5 hour drive and if the weather is bad you'll need chains at the top or a 4x4. As for skiing then my advice would be that if you are going with a group of similar ability then book a group lesson together. Lessons in the morning - free time in the afternoon. If you are a 100% beginner then don't be afraid to admit it - you'll learn much more by getting the first lesson right rather than struggling above your ability. Also, drink loads of fluids and take it easy on the pop each night. And yes, boarding is easier to get to a reasonable standard, but bl**dy hard work with lots of pain for the first few days. Dead jealous - at least there is snow over there
  6. This post got me thinking - does anybody else have a wobbly footrest (Oi, no sniggering at the back) and yes, the screws are tight.
  7. Yep, that'll do the trick. If they won't believe you take them to the nearest multi-storey and wind the windows down going up the ramps.
  8. Agree with the part bonnet issues - the line 10 inches back from the nose is just too noticeable. I went for the bumper and mirrors only, but ended up with a ding on the bonnet itself. TBH I doubt if the Paintshield would have saved that as it was a bl**dy great lump of something from the other carriageway at about 90mph.
  9. My Z is up to 24k miles, all weathers and loads of motorways so plenty of salt and other crap. The front bumper of the Lexus before it was sh*gged at this mileage whilst the Z is still "near" perfect. I say near as I do have the odd mark on the paintshield by nowhere near as bad a naked paint. I can see the point about "plastic on the seats" syndrome by IMO it is all about keeping the car neat and tidy for me. Whether you think it is worth +£300 is another matter and yes, whilst it isn't invisible I'm still convinced that for my type of car use it is brilliant. I haven't scuffed the bumper to see how it behaves, but to be honest that isn't the main purpose of paintshield. Personal choice but the best 1% of any car's value I have invested. Let the fallout commence....
  10. Well shes been hanging around for the last 5 years, think she's staying 'nuff said - best splash out on a quality pressie then.
  11. You'll probably find that the power supply is dual voltage 115/220-240, but best check out the spec on the BOSE website. TBH I'd go for something cheaper such as Altec as the quality lost with the low bit-rate encoding on the iPod will make the BOSE set-up a bit of a waste of time. Plus you never know how long she'll still be your girlfriend
  12. If 'real' what would you give for pickup like that. Flywheel must weight minus 500 KGs
  13. 23k in 14 months and all my own. Roughly on target for the 3 year/60k warranty limit and then it'll be going back. Now I wonder if I can save the +50k for the GT-R by then????
  14. Welcome I hope that you paid plenty for it - we don't want our residuals being hit by cheap buys in the winter
  15. Great clip. S2000s are certainly swift, but day-in, day-out could you live with all those revs and no torque???
  16. Sorry mate, they're not listed.
  17. So....Had the axle done yesterday, but looking at the job sheet all they did was replace the 6 bolts, nuts and washers. I did see the Nissan technical bulletin and this is "apparently the approved solution". I'll now be listening carefully for any re-occurence.
  18. Had mine on about 3 weeks / 1500 miles now and to be honest I can't spot the difference. P'raps my was well grounded in the first place??? Looks neat and tidy though.
  19. Took mine in yesterday and they've "ordered the parts" although this could be just the tub of grease Find out next Friday if it has cured the problem.
  20. Oh dear - 21k on the clock and bingo, the rear axle is clicking taking up and releasing drive in 1st. First heard it the multi-storey at work and now I can't miss it. Time to give the stealer a bell me thinks.
  21. ...and it'll scratch your paintwork to buggery putting it on and taking it off unless you claybar each time
  22. Cost +£31500 Poor chap got badly ripped off in the first place I wish people would stop flogging their Z's off - it's killing the resale values.
