  1. I've been meaning to ask this question for a while as it has always intrigued me. Apart from people who run there Zeds as part of a works package how much money does the average zed owner have to earn to run the car comfortably, by this I mean without running up huge debts!

I'm on a decent wage and have a mortgage, no kids at the moment and still grind my teeth when parting with the near 60 quid a week to fill her up.

Now don't get me wrong, I can afford it but all the cars I've had before have cost me a lot less to run, and I've been brought up to appreciate money, and like many of you who I'm sure work very hard to get it!

It seems to me that you do have to earn a decent amount to finance a new/nearly new Z.

I was lucky and have ended up with no finance on the car, but even with a decent income I may have found it hard to justify the monthly payments! along with other bills.

And before anyone says, "If your concerned about running it you shouldn't have bought a V6" I love the car and wouldn't drive anything else (for the time being anyway)

Anyway like I said I'm just curious to what sort of background the Zed owner comes from and how many actually struggle to run it, or can finance it with no problem.

I'm not bothered about knowing peoples earnings (as I'm sure you wouldn't say anyway) but just how many Z owners run the car comfortably, and how many struggle to pay for the car they love

(I would fall into the latter, if I had finance on the car)

    Cheers,

  2. I HAVE ALWAYS PUT OPTIMAX OR THE BP STUFF IN MY Z UP UNTIL LAST WEEK THAT IS WHEN I WAS TEMPTED BY SAINSBURYS SUPER (LOADS CHEAPER)

BUT HOW BAD ACTUALLY IS IT?

I THINK THE PERFORMANCE MAY HAVE DIPPED BUT I CAN'T BE SURE.

CAN ANYONE WITH MORE KNOWLEDGE FILL ME IN??

  3. If you forget about the two owners, and the cars in excellent nick, then I'd go for it, I'd make sure that everthing was mint though, wheels etc.

But like you say if you were to buy one without said gear, it would cost you a hell of a lot more!

Haggle and go for it, always scope for movemnet!!

    Good luck!

  4. Do you have a spoiler?

Mine was fine until I had the spoiler fitted, have to lift at the same time as pressing the catch.

Same thing happened to me Dave  Did you remove the weight out of the boot lid???

BTW Leenx this would also help you ;) Failing that new strut's may be req'd,,, iirc some people have had these replaced under warranty

How do I remove the weight Liam? I remeber someone else doing this a while back but I didn't have it then!

  5. There is a slight advantage for lower mileage, for example, the Z market is reasonable flooded with used Zs and you've a guy looking to buy a used Z, there's two very similar cars for sales one with 25k and the other with maybe 10k but both on at the same price, the one with the lower mileage will go every time before the 25k Z!

If you can keep the mileage down without interfering with your fun, then its only gonna benefit when you want rid.

  6. If you wash them as least once a week at the jet wash they'll stay in perfect conditiion, no cleaner needed, a pain in the arse keeping on top of it but worth it, like I said, it depends if can be bothered.:yawn:

That was really boaring, sorry

  7. It happened a couple of times for the first time this weekend, I was on the motorway and I'd see a car (firstly) a new Golf GTI moving very fast towards me, knowing I had the quicker car I pushed it at this point (I'm on a slip road with quite a curve) I then slow down slightly as I approach the on coming traffic but this guy just floors it, really annoying! I'm thinking I could have wasted him on an open road but I ain't gonna cause an accident to prove a point! Just pi**ed me off thinking that he now probably thinks he's just scalped a Z. Should have seen him pulling in front of traffic and taking really small gaps, ****!

    Next time mate

    :boxing::boxing:

But I suppose, that I only did the sensible thing. Shouldn't get wound up!

  8. I had the exactly the same problem, 31, decent postcode, and an accident which wasn't my fault, and the best quote I got was the one you think is to expensive! with Adrian Flux.

Unfortunatly tits who drive like idiots ruin it for us all!

If you find a better quote I'll be amazed.

  9. :surrender:

I swear I've got a hole in my petrol tank, I must be driving to fast or something!!

If the guy does a good job it's money well spent no matter which way you look at it.

  10. Sorry Mike, yeh, that's me out.

I didn't know the guy was here until I walked out into the car park!!

Did an awesome job though, and I didn't even have to move the car.

    Completely dentless, Magic!!

  11. As discussed a while back, there's a few of us in the Manchester area with dents, my boss had a mobile Dent removal guy out yesterday who did both our cars, in our car park!

    FANTASTIC! JOB!!!

£45per car, and mine was very awkward

PM if you want the guys details

PS, he has been doing this for ten years and deals with Stratstones Manchester
