Three Westfield drivers get through 84,000 doughnuts
At the British International Motor Show three Westfield professional race instructors are demonstrating a prodigious appetite for doughnuts. By the end of the Show they will have got through 84,000!
However, the drivers won't need to burn calories, as they have been burning rubber down at the Westfield Drift Experience. As well as performing doughnuts in their 1.6-litre, 155bhp Westfield Sport models, the instructors are taking show goers on an adrenaline-fuelled, two-lap sideways blast around a purpose-built drifting course.
With the cars skidding throughout every day of the Show, the Westfield Drift Experience has been consuming rear tyres at a rate of around ten a day. The good news for the environment is that pre-worn tyres are being fitted; they are being used until fully worn and the rubber remnants are then being recycled.
"Being able to recycle the tyres was vital for ensuring the Drift Experience complied with our 'green' policy," comments Julian Turner, Westfield's managing director. "Westfield's carbon footprint is already very low - our cars are fuel-efficient, 99% of our suppliers are located in the UK and all our employees live within five miles of our Midlands factory. The Drift Experience keeps the impact on the environment low, without cutting down on the thrills.
