Help Required! Overheating in traffic, Cold air in cabin

With the post above it would be good if that procedure could be added to the 350 guides sub-forum. -
Help Required! Overheating in traffic, Cold air in cabin

Can't find the Nissan procedure for refilling the 350z coolant (there does not appear to be a "How To" guide on here) but this guide supplied by Samco is quite helpful with the images - see the end part about the refilling steps: http://crackaddict.c...samco.howto.htm From previous posts over the years on here the refilling procedure, if not followed to the 'letter' has been the downfall of many and initially I was thinking of an airlock, although in your case the loss of fluid would suggest something else as others have suggested above, is amiss. And you are best off using the Nissan Premix solution, should you have to drain and refill again - see here: http://www.350z-uk.c...genuine-nissan/ -
Sounds like a loose/poor connection and maybe in your search for likely causes you moved the the problem connection I would check the fuse and its 'seating' but off the top of my head I cannot help with its location- something I never had an issue with on my 370. Do you not have a friendly local garage that could give it the once over as if you book into Nissan for an intermittent issue you might b charged for (say) an hours worth on inspection to be told they could find nothing wrong.....

Out of the box it is a great drivers car for the road. Too heavy for serious track work and gets expensive on tyres and brakes, but with the right mods and if stripped out if kept for that purpose it clearly has appealed to many. What has also come across over the years is that those who have really tested the strength of the car have by-in-large got away with just minor injuries (OK some have not but then the extent of their accident was just too severe). For me both the 350 and 370 proved effortless cruisers having done many trips up and down the country to enjoy some of the best driving roads in the country and that is why I bought and enjoyed the 3 Zeds I owned. And comfortable too for my 6'2" frame that is now well into its sixth decade

Sounds very much as though the clutch is slipping. If so the fix is a new one and that means the gearbox out, so no "easy fix" - sorry!

You may find this thread helpful and in pariticular the last post about getting hold of parts: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/99279-gearboxcd009-refurb-feedback/page__hl__%2Bgearbox+%2Bsynchros Good luck.

Out of curiosity, I notice you do not have the 'hump' bonnet that Nissan used with their HR 350. So how did you get round that? -

To advertise ZEDs for sale on the forum members must have a minimum of 100 quality post and at least 6 months membership. The reason for that is that should help potential purchasers, if only in a small way, to see some history about the car and quite often other members will be able to vouch for the car/selling member on their for sale thread. And if difficulties arise in the transaction the team will do what they can to help sort out difficulties. And not least, you would be buying from an enthusiast who is likely to looked after their car as you will see most members on here get quite passionate about their pride and joy

Will Alonso jump ship at Melbourne? Will Honda pull the plug? Will the Arab backers back out now their oil income is is probably less than the dollars they use to fund the team? I know something, if Hass walk all over McLaren this year I think we can say goodbye to anyone that matters in the team. But then you look at the sales of McLaren cars

Come to think of it Mark, I seem to recall you suggested the rear toeing in a little more than standard on the 370 when doing an alignment to help the turn-ins, and I would have had the spacers the 23mm combination* on the front then and just 20mm on the rear. (* the width necessary to seat the front wheels on the hubs due to the limited recess depth in them to take the OEM studs with 20mm spacers.)
-
I recall I had the tramlining with the Potenzas but not wth the Sesstanas or the MPSS. Not saying it handled any better with spacers than without but I really did not notice any significant difference when pushing on and those who know me will confirm I don't hang around in the twisties. But I do recall it was suggested the rear toe-in be altered soon after I fitted the spacers, but I no longer have the alignment read-outs to say exactly what that was, but I did ask for that setting to be kept each year I had an alignment done - one of the most important checks, as you will know, that Zeds regularly should have that done. No doubt the MPSS inspired so much confidence compared to previous tyres, and with the spacers the stance just looked so much better..... the original reason for putting them on.

Not clear whether you would consider used parts, but increasing number of possibilities for s/h parts - for example pro traders like ZMANALEX, Emperor Tuning etc are likely to have most parts you may need

Realistic price for a quick sale - and nice example - good luck with the sale

If in doubt Google.....well I was not in doubt knowing that the act of "undertaking" is not illegal in itself. So hope this post taken from here http://www.advanced-...start=30might help those who might wish to know when it is OK to undertake and when it is not: Having spent many years booking people for bad driving on the Motorway, and now advising on liability and traffic law after an accident in a civillian capacity, to answer the original point, there is absolutely nothing in law to prevent someone undertaking if lane 2 or 3 is being hogged. Contrary to popular belief and what many of these fly on the wall TV programmes would have you believe, there is no specific offence of nearside overtake, in fact it was removed from the statute books when the 1972 Road traffic Act was introduced. In its place is the section 3 offence of careless driving, but to secure a conviction for the offence the prosecution have to prove that the stanndard of driving fell well below the standard expected of a reasonably competent driver. The simple act of a nearside overtake would not be sufficient, but if the undertaking vehicle then weaves from lane to lane, then that would be a different matter. As far as hogging lanes 2 or 3 are concerned, the law states that the left hand lane is the driving lane and lanes 2 and 3 (or 4 where applicable) are simply overtaking lanes, and unless slower moving vehicles are being passed, then the driver should return to the nearside lane when it is practicable and convenient to do so, despite the fact that many drivers would still have you believe that we have slow, fast and overtaking lanes. So the issue really arises when there is a clear open stretch of road or where the driver is clearly not gaining on a behicle ahead in lane 1 and the driver chooses to sit in the middle or outside lane. In this case, then the other part of the section 3 offence comes into play, "Driving without reasonable consideration for other road users" which is just another sub section of careless driving but carries the same penalty. It used to be common place to report such drivers, especially when we had full time Motorway patrols, but things are somewhat different these days, well in my old force anyway. In regards to civil claims, the courts are now starting to realise that the nearside overtake is not illegal and finding in favour of the driver who nipped passed on the nearside and got clobbered because of the numpty who sat in the middle lane and then decided to go back to lane 1 without first checking. I have dealt with about 6 or 7 of these in the past 12 months and won every one (or at least my colleagues have in respect of the civil personal injury cases) and the middle lane hogger has been held 100% liable. The hogger has a statutory duty of care not only to drive in the correct lane, but also ensure it is safe to return back to the nearside lane before he commences changing position. This type of accident is most common amongst motorcyclists, and whilst every case has to be judged according to the evidence, I have had many where the defendant third party has immidiately quoted Powell v Moody (1966) and backed it up with "Of course undertaking is an illegal manouevre" and then get very embarrased when I go back and ask them to quote act and section for the undertake and counteract Powell v Moody with Davis v Schrogins (2006)

That is my betting too -
Hmmmm..... alignment sounds the right action, and given I presume you had the work done mentioned here: http://www.350z-uk.c...ar-control-arm/ Just makes me wonder whether something is not right with the suspension on that side, so hopefully your regular garage will spot any issues

In continued awe of your skills but as regards this: "Can anybody tell me if the alternator is ECU controlled or just a standard type??? (I don't have one yet and need to know before buying one)." I don't know - I'mm sure others on here will know the answer, but one who certainly would off the top of my head is ZMANALEX - worth a pm if he does not see your ask
