The standard boot mat is less than half the thickness of those that could (can?) be purchased as optional extras - although mine was included in the purchase as one of the early cars that Nissan were offering free, no doubt to help sales along with other bits and pieces in 2009. Just think of a basic office style carpet compared to that you would choose at home that has a deeper pile - sorry don't know how to describe it better than that. Might be worth asking your local dealer if they are still available, unless someone on here has one to sell

Hold up, what's wrong with my grammar? The titles missing a pluralisation, I was only joking though. I can't change my spell check from american, its a bit of a nightmare. Back on topic, were you joking about having the ESP off? Having the ESP off combined with mismatched budget tyres is crazy. You have a keyboard But you are quite right about driving with the ESP off - only adding for the accidents waiting to happen.
-
Your spelling after that grammar ticking off made me chuckle. Can afford to do both (the mods I'm planning are super cheap). Only problem is the tight Northerner in me not wanting to "waste" money when it doesn't seem necessary. I don't feel like I'm having any problems as long as I drive sensibly, but I guess what's the point having a 300bhp RWD car if I have to drive like my grandma. Appreciate the advice anyway. Will try convince myself and get something sorted. Might need to go watch some vids on the difference between good and bad tyres and the dangers involved. None of us like wasting money but it is better than wasting your life and maybe others using such awful tyres. As has been said on the forum, running a ZED is not cheap and to fully enjoy it (rather than pretending to be your grandma) good tyres, as well as good brakes, are an absolute must
-
One thing that does help is using the thicker boot mat - maybe that is why the tyre noise bothered me less than it does for some.

Loud snap pulling handbrake - but still works as normal

The original tyres on my 370 were Bridgestone RE50a - did the job but not confidence inspiring in the wet. I then changed to Vredestein Sessantas - very happy with them in the wet and dry and also more 'playful' - but the rear wheel wear rate was not so good (understandable ). Finally after hearing all the good stuff about the Michelin MPSS, I got a set of those - bloody expensive at the time (£1100) but honestly it was like driving a different car in all conditions - the grip levels are so confident inspiring and compared to the previous two they were miles better, and also literally in terms of wear rate. Noise levels. Well I accepted a long time ago that having a sports car was about the noise & performance (rather than having added insulation weight) and and like the vast majority of owners upgraded the exhaust. The alternative to disguise the tyre noise was is to turn the music up, but sad to say that when it was dry my 'music' came from having the windows open. More seriously, differing surfaces affect tyre noise at differently and as I have found with my current car, having recently changed from Continental 5s to MPSS, on a road I use regularly the tyre noise on some sections is more pronounced with one set and then better on another surface that the other set. Goes away when I drop a gear or two

Maybe a health warning to a potential purchaser as you open the bonnet More seriously, if you can hold on until the spring you are likely to get better money.

I've come to the conclusion it is best off finding a space between two cars that as a new as possible, other than between two obviously well kept cars that collectors go for. Owners of the new cars are likely to be more careful, until the novelty wears off. And as a bonus, just hope those two cars are still there when you get back to yours ..... Sadly, I believe the increasing number of cars bought on lease etc is likely to mean car park dings are on the increase as from what I hear the finance companies don't worry about small dings/dents/scratches at change over time...so why should the owners
-
Whole lot softer ride than the A45 - mind you it corners like a go kart on MPSS and...... you can boot it mid corner - wet or dry, unlike the 350/370, with no understeer (unless you really provoke it). Downside is less driver involvement, apart from hanging on
-
Ride should be hard for a sports car, unless it's something more fancy these days with adjustable settings by the driver. Can't say I recall it being any harder in the 370 than the 350's I had - maybe your 350 springs have 'softened' with age/mileage? Yes, there is more tyre noise in the 370 as standard compared to the 350's, but then most who own one cancel that out with a louder exhaust given the standard is hardly befitting a sports car, unlike the OEMs on the 350's which were.

Cheers Alex (Zman) - be interested to hear if anyone has found a way of editing their blocked a/c to get below the 2.4GB restriction so it opens up images on here rather than not. Alex 2 (Lexx) - my wife has a PB a/c using her own email that at the last time of looking was about 70% full. That also appears to be blocked atm so I am guessing PB have used our IP to stop us using the pics. So neither of us can access the a/cs to delete, copy and paste etc.
-
From what I have checked that now means any of my pics posted on the forum from the blocked a/c are no longer visible - sorry to those who may be disappointed.
-
Anyone else being stopped from using their a/c as they now say the use is excess of their 2.4 GB free limit? Mine has been on the 100%limit for over 2 years - now they say it measuring 3.3GB and can only access if I upgrade, with seemingly no option to remove excess storage and no warning beforehand of the intended restriction. Given most of the pics I have on PB are largely historic relating to events I have done with this forum I'm buggered if I am going to pay a monthly fee for increasingly nominal use So if someone knows a workaround to keep the free option.....

Try the phone in another position in the car and also deleting then/reconnecting?

First priority is the choice will be on the ability to demonstrate they are German, me thinks. Second priority is a driver who can help maximise the manufacturer championship points. Third priority is that they obey team orders........ But maybe, like Rosberg took everyone by surprise with his retirement, MB will take on a driver no one though of.

Been on this forum over 10 years and seen that most reported driver responsible accidents occur on/leaving roundabouts - right foot ignoring brain to feed in the power smoothly. That said, it sounds to me in your case you entered the roundabout with too much speed and whether the TC on might have only given you a lighter brown trouser moment is doubtful. Rather than a track day you might like to consider a focused handling session with someone like Colin Hoad at Millbrook - highly recommended in learning the limits of your Zed (and you!). http://catdrivertraining.co.uk OK, it is some way from you and its not cheap - but there others you might find or someone on here can recommend nearer to you. The Zeds are tail happy as you will see from that link (part of the fun) but need respect, especially if the road surface is other than bone dry. And good tyres are a must!

Reminds me of the Hamilton/Button era at McLaren when JB got more points but LH got the adoration and countless other drivers in eras going back since the start of F1 it was not just the drivers with the biggest balls (i.e crowd pleasers) that won championships but also those who used their heads to amass enough points to get the championship crown........or, indeed happened to be in the right place at the right time to get a drive in a championship wining car/team that sadly nowadays is killing the interest as the lack of input on this thread over the past year demonstrates all too well.
-
From what I am reading between the lines there is doubt next years rules changes will not affect Mercs domination, unless Ferrari or another engine manufacturer work miracles. OK, so the engine suppliers that have been involved in the sport see F1 as a way promoting their product that sells more road cars. But then the current rules (and likely next years too) together with the limited free TV access are even driving the die-hard fans away, let alone those who might have turned on the telly on to see a great spectacle. Maybe it is time for F1 to cap the overall power outputs (controlled at races scrutineering and in-race monitoring by the FIA) whether that be be on the whole power package or if it has to be just the petrol element, that means the chassis/aero design/drivers play far more of a part in the race outcomes?
-
The car is what wins the championships these days, sadly. Simply put, most of the current drivers if given a Merc seat could have won the championship simply dependent on car reliabilty. Best 'driving' entertainment this year was undoubtedly from Max - in much the same way we saw from Lewis in his early years in F1......

From a little research (found on US sites) the issue is by no means confined to the 370's - most Nissan/Infinity models made in the same period also suffered from the steering locks fault and it seems that whilst 'warranty' on the offending part was extended by 3 years on 1/4/2013, notwithstanding that it seems vehicles post 1/4/2013 (after 370 Chassis number 300691) were also affected! It also appears to not be confined to just Nissan/Infinity vehicles and seems to be a basic design fault by whoever made the items. Also, there is doubt that even the replacement locks are fail-safe, hence owners pulling the fuse. Later vehicles I gather no longer have the locks fitted so it begs the question as to their need given the other anti-theft protection that still attracts Thatcham1 endorsement. Nissan have refused to acknowledge there is any safety issue that would have required them to do a full recall.......hmmmm, but the issue of 'goods not fit for purpose' raised by some does not appear to have been pursued that you would hope a Small Claims Court would support. Sadly it looks likely those few owners still affected might well have to fund the fix themselves although from some some posts on this thread - e.g. 80 & 93, contributions/ex-gratia payments towards the fix have been made in the past. This link will take you to the US Bulletin showing the fix if that helps those trying toi minimise the hit on their pockets: http://ww2.justanswe...teeringlock.pdf Nissan might think it is small beer, but with the nasty taste it leaves that will linger and make some think about having another one of their models.....

If it is the steering lock that has failed Diab2005 and your car is in the recall batch then Nissan should foot the bill Suggest you contact Nissan Customer Services direct to verify. See my post 127 above

So the stories are true, you have very large round ones..... Be great to see you out there competing again - when you know the events you are entering please post them up, cos I'm sure there will be many others out there like me who would come along from here when I/they can to appreciate your commitment and hopefully see you do well in your Class. Good luck Andy

Personally, I find it easier click on "Direct" on the PB picture options that says copied and then use green "image' box on here and paste in the URL and....

Just a thought........... I know CDs are old hat but had my six favourite discs in the 370 that when I did play one you all the details on the screen and easy to locate the tracks you wanted. Sad to say that Brown Sugar got overplayed..... But the best music for me was that played by the 370 with the synchro rev 'encouraging' gear changes far more than necessary. Lol I'll get me coat now!

So sorry to hear that news Pete. June and I send our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
