I wouldnt believe that number at all, complete rubbish.
  2. I dont think its the kind of car where people will mess about with larger turbo's (although Im not saying it cant be done) The compression ratio is still 10.2:1 which is still high, hence the small turbo's and very minimal lag. Not all Zeds are running 10.5:1 compression
  3. Nice one. All manufacturers seem a tad optimistic with the power figures for cars, it seems.
  4. Have you ever seen how much a scouser sweats in dixons????
  5. Excess of 1k, I think that may be expecting a bit much mate, in my experience.
  6. Wont be much different in shape, probably just a bit fatter in the mid range. Depending on what mods you have. I wouldnt expect massive gains, but it allows you to set the car up properly.
  7. Depending on feedback from various sensors on the engine, it will change maps for example, if knock is detected, air temp changes etc. The UTEC takes over on closed loop running (WOT). One thing to note, is that the UTEC does completely take over from the standard ECU (i.e. the map programmed wont change like the factory unit, so you always have the same performance) the UTEC does have knock control, so if your running your 'aggressive' map and the knock sensors detect any knock then it will retard timing accordingly.
  8. I dont think that the turbos on that car will give much more, they are two tiny units designed for minimal/zero lag. A bit like the Saab low pressure applications. Bet its a nice drive, still a mingin beemer though, when all said and done.

    570bhp!!!!!!!! I smell...........I smell............bullshit!!!!
  10. That is almost as pointless as people who put seat covers on their cars, why do it, just to keep it nice for the next owner???? in the mean time you get to drive around in a car that looks shite.
  11. Im going to see it this weekend, I work with that lot, and I'll tell you what, its a pretty accurate impression he's got.
  12. The thing is, you only would be using the UTEC when in closed loop conditions, so under normal driving, even if you had it set on the 'aggressive' map, it would only come into affect under WOT conditions. Multiple maps sounds great, but in real world, you dont really use it that much. I leave mine on high boost 95% of the time, I just dont put my foot down as far if I dont want to go as fast. Its even less relevant on a N/A car, as your not going to feel the difference between a 10bhp map, in all honesty.
  13. Cosworth make good kit, but most of it is rebadged stuff from other manufacturers. The plenum looks like their own, as are the pistons, but the rods and other items are made by other manufacturers. HKS do this trick as well.
  14. I honestly think you'll get about 10-15bhp with N/A mods and the UTEC, but you will have the peace of mind that you keep the gains (without the stock ECU switching between maps, offsetting the gains) and that your A/F will be **** on.
  15. You wont need to change maps on a N/A car, I doubt you'd even feel the difference between them. I only have 1 map, I just change boost on mine.
  16. Yeah, but you'll need your engine out if you want them to do it. I also dont think you'd like their prices. Thor will be able to accommodate your group buy/tune no problems. Did a good job on my mates Supra.
  17. How wont you get a true reading if its cold??? its the same amount of oil in there, if anything it will be a more accurate reading, as all of the motors oil will be in the sump.
  18. Its a great system, get it done, stop fannying around!! (do i have to try everything first round here?)

    New volk rims

I think those wheels are absolutely foul. Look like something from an 80's trans-am.
  20. She'd soon burn her bee stung lips on those pipes!
  21. Another interesting piccy.
  22. Depends on what your using, if its a supercharger, then yes, as they arent as hard on the engine (far less torque produced). To be on the safe side, I'd stick to around 380bhp to give you some safety margin. What I will say is this, if you can only just afford to do the work, then dont bother, as their is a much greater chance of engine failure (not painting a totally dark picture, as i had a vortech on standard internals, and my APS TT, with no problems). You just need to be aware of the risks involved. Ive had the standard rods in my hand and they are like MacDonalds straws, shocking quality. That is the weak link, the rods.
