  1. Can anyone help please (My car is now out of Warranty!!!!!) It ran out on 11th of November, so Nissan should really help, but will they ???? Hmmm Basically, one day, the interior lamp brightness appeared to be a lot dimmer than usual. The next day, they would not work at all, along with everything else listed above. I also had a moment during a journey where the lamps illuminated on their own for about 2secs (like a diagnostic self test), but then went off again. This seemed to happen every 5mins (approx). The following features no longer work!!!!!: - Interior lights Boot Light Buzzer o/p signal (for lights on/door open) Turn Indicator Signal on IPK Headlamp (Low/High beam) Signal on Instrument Pack (combination meter) Instrument Pack (combination meter) brightness adjustment Door switch signal? Day/Night switch for Trip Computer Binnacle (Triple meter) brightness (when driving light are turned on) Trip distance on IPK resets with each ign-off. The total accumulated odo is however fine (I assume because it’s stored in EEPROM). Trip Computer binacle always defaults back t the clock at each key cycle. Side lights (Position lights?) now stay on when normal dipped beam driving lights are on (Low beam). All 3 sets of lamps (Side/Dipped/Full) are on when Full is selected. Wing Mirror heater may not be working – not confirmed. I’m was hoping it was something simple like a fuse or module reset required, but I can’t find any fuses blown (not tried all yet - any reccomendations?) and i've disconnected the battery to reset the modules. It's like a switched power feed is missing, as everything resets! From the list of faults above, they look mainly like features that are transmitted from the “BCMâ€

  3. It's not a fuse I don't think (although not checked 'em all yet) Some kind of short somewhere I think. What usually happens, is that if a short is detected by the IPDM (Inteligent power/fuse box) it will shut down the applicable power o/p stages to avoid damage. Every Xmins, it will try and operate the o/p again to see if the fault has gone and if so, the module will return to normal operation. I think I have an issue like this, as on my drive home today, the interior light came on, all on its own, for about 3 secs. It did this 3/4 times in my 25 minute journey. So I guess there is probably a major issue/short somewhere and it keeps testing the o/p. Bugger springs to mind, as the warranty ran out 19 days ago! Any ideas anyone?? anyonme else had a similar problem? I'm going to try a module reset tomorrow to see if that helps (i.e. battery disconnect).
  4. I now have a similar issue. Yesterday, the interior lights seemed a bit dull - though nothing of it though. Today, come to car after work and the interior light do not work at all. Also, neither does the boot light, indicators markers on the cluster, indicator sound, lights on beep/buzzer. Hopefully only a fuse. Any advice as to which fuse and where?
  5. Guess it wasn't the bearing then? Probably just the pedal arm? Mine is starting to really annoy me now, it squeeks and groans when it's hot and dry. Do you know exactly what they did? And which "West Way" do u use?
  6. I'd have loved to take you up on the offer for Leicester, but unfortunately i'm back in Cheltenham for the wknd as it's my B'Day tomorrow. Damn shame though. Will have to catch you some other time. Thanks very much for the VIP ticket offer though. Does VIP mean I sit right at the front and you take the p**s Let us know when your nearby again. Don't suppose you do the Sketchly Grange Hotel (part of Best Western) in Burbage (leicestershire). I noticed they have a comedy night.
  7. No worries. Stuck at work anyway! Hope Cov lived up to your expectations
  8. On second thoughts, I see you are at Jongleurs in Leicester on Thurs, so may try and make that instead. Better venue I think?
  9. What might you be saying about Cov LOL Can't say I disagree though. I actually work in Cov, but live in rural Leicesteshire, for obvious reasons. Will see if I can make it. I thought it was last Wednesday and i'd missed it.

  11. But what you are saying is the exact opposite of what i mean This should lead to MORE hp, and not cancelling out the potential gains. Simplisticly speaking: you do some mods giving your more airflow to the engine and a better airflow out of it, basically the engine revving "more freely" and getting more air/oxygen. This could be detected by the ECU so it could inject more fuel leading to more power, but what i read is that the ECU detects this but does something so that this wont happen, to keep the same amount of power no matter what extra flow is generated. My question is, HOW ??? It's called "Torque Structure". The engine calibration is based on an estimated torque structure that basically give you torque o/p for pedal demand i/p. To get to torque o/p, it measures the airflow from the MAF sensor, the pedal angle, the throttle angle (+ many other sensors), and adjusts the timing and injection quantity to achieve the desired pedal torque. Also, the Lambda sensors in the exhaust stream are used to help the system with the air/fuel ratio to achieve the optimum power/emmissions (lambda=1). The one thing that can adapt the performance of the engine is better grade fuel. Higher RON levels will lead to higher capability in-cylinder pressures (knock/self combustion occurs later) and therefore, ignition advance can be adapted to give more power from each cylinder. Making the car breath easier (i.e. filter/exhaust) may improve economy (and give a might great sound), but you won't really get any power benfits. Hope that helps.
  12. Is there a Thurst Bearing TSB ?
  13. I too have the squeeky clutch pedal, and what I consider to be a slightly noisy thrust bearing, but my dealer said it's just normal for these cars. My Warranty runs out on 11th on Nov !!, so I'm keen to get this logged and looked at. If I log the issue with Nissan Customer services prior to my Warranty running out, then they have to endorse any work, even if it occurs after warranty expires (as I notified them before).. A TSB would be good ammo. Does this sound like the same problem?
  14. Hmmmm I'm getting nervous now. My warranty runs out very soon and I heard a single click from mine again today!! (on two occasions). It's been in twice already for supposidly both sides and both having full replacement. I did have to wait a while after diagnosis whilst they ordered the parts, so I can only believe it was done, but i'm starting to think they just turned em 180degrees and greased em up! sad.gif Does anyone actually have a proper description of what the exact issue is (i.e. what it fouling with what and what parts are moving etc..). Everytime I ask the Dealer, I get such a wooley response! wacko.gif
  15. MPH '06 I guess. They were supposed to be having one 350Z in the theatre arena - so I guess that's it
  16. Damp cloth to clean, then condition with Zaino "Leather in a bottle" - it's great .. !
  17. Tyres will be replaced. It's a combinaton of bad tread patttern (new tyres will have different outer block pattern) and incorrect front end geometry setup from factory. Nissan will replace the tyres if their check determines feathering (sawtooth on the outer blocks). It's a well know issues - get them replaced at Nissans expense and make sure the front toe is adjusted to new spec (2mm toe-in). Mine were replaced having covered 16,000miles.
  18. He's also been shown Walking from the air ambulance into a road ambulance, unasisted and is now in Bristol Hospital.

    AA or RAC ?

Need to get some Euro cover for my trip to France. I know The AA do not use AA patrols in Europe and I'm guessing RAC are the same? If this is the case, I may go for one of the cheaper groups (i.e. Green Flag) that use contractor companies anyway. Any advice?
  20. Off for my trek around France soon in the Z. For all you peeps that have done this before, can you recommend any good campsites/B&Bs/Hotels to stop at en-route. Autoroute Map attached for my main route (autoroute file + jpg), but plan to stop in smaller villages in-between.
  21. As mentioned - go in through the top. It is fiddly, but a lot less hastle. Just remove the one bolt holding the light in place and this will give you about 6mm more room to squeeze your fingers in!
  22. How many days did you spread the driving over? I've got an 11 day trip through France and have planned 2000miles. I'm just a bit concious that this might be too far to really enjoy the trip. What was the furthest distance u drove in a day ?

    Rear Tyres ?

Anywhere cheaper than blackcircles to get the T1Rs from? How much do tyre fitting places to fit your own tyres (i.e. fit balance and valve)? Just seeing if it's worth while getting them online without fitting and pay local tyre place to fit.

    Tracking

bernmc, Ddidn't realise there was a Z so close to me (I live just across the Warks/Leics border, just off A5). I've used Brittania Tyres before as they're very cheap, but wasn't sure i'd like to let them loose on my Z! Are they quite competant with the Supertracker? I've allways had my tracking done at ProTyre (maiinly souther branches) - and they use a very similar machine if not the same, so I know how good they are. I pressume if only the front's need doing, it'll be £30. I'm gonna see what WestWay (Cov Dealer) make of it again, but i'm not convinced. Anybody know what the toe-in in "mm" correlates to in "degree Minutes" ?
