  1. I may do one next year in the Exige... You're probably aware of this Kev, but Lotus do their own sessions at Hethel. A mate of mine did it recently and was very impressed with the day. I didn't realise they did track days. I knew about the factory open days though. Any idea how much? I'd be up for a mixed Walshy Day. He does 4 car groups for £190. I'm thinking March time? PS: Steve go on post some BMW pictures and get some stick....
  2. +1 ........ £400 seems a lot for self adhesive plastic film Costs a lot more than that for a full front end coverage.. how much more ?? Isn't it more like £700-£800? I would like my car to have it but would only get it done either from new or after a respray, and would only bother getting a respray if I was gonna get paintshield straight after. Which means in my eyes a respray is gonna cost £1000+ for the respray and paintshield. I'd rather just knock a bit off the sale price when I sell up. I agree. That must be a first I would of had it done if I had had it from new too. My paint is miles more durable than the zeds though and IIRC there are only a couple of teeny weeny marks in the paint That's cuz I only agree with you when you are right... Your not driving the Lambo fast enough then. All cars are now water based paint, akthough granted some paint quality is better than others. Nissan is pretty poor TBH.
  3. I wrapped mine in bubble wrap for the journey home and over to Paintshield at Grantham. Felt a prat but it was worth it.

I agree no point in painyshielding a car unless it's from new. The thing is once you have done it, the car stays perfect throughout your ownership. I've had a full frontal coverage done on the Exige as I new what would happen on such a low car.

Nah not for me , I dont see the point of keeping a cars paintwork nice for the next owners benefit you can get three front end resprays for the cost of the film anyway tim But then the paint doesn't match. Especially if you have special yellow paint with Ziryllic or whatever it's called. Been there done that on more than one car.

  9. These people are highly rated on SELOC & MLOC, (Lotus forums). http://www.carlimits.com/ This was posted up on SELOC today..
  10. Nice motor and colour.. She's a very lucky lady. This is my Mum's transport and I ain't kidding.
  11. It stinks. Ecclestone and Briatore are partners owning QPR and good friends, Ghosen has made it clear he doesn't support Renaults F1 program and GP2. All these factors have clearly affected the decision. Ecclestone and Mosely should be sacked. It's a disgrace...
  12. Very funny. See below for more info. http://time-blog.com/real_clear_politic ... l_off.html

    Top Speeds

Rod Tarry's Saph Cossie had no extra aero dynamics when he broke 200 mph. Surely the Zed would be more stable than a 20 year old Granada derivtive.

    Top Speeds

Weight isn't really an issue with top speed just acceleration. The heavier the car the longer it takes to get up there. 580 ld/ft is probably why the Porky achieved such an high speed. Turbo's seem to produce big torque figures. One day I will do a top speed run in my Cossie. Last time on the dyno that was 433 lb/ft which ain't bad for a 2 litre.

There was a thread regarding a Monaro where the guy claimed 200 mph capability. I've spoken to a guy who has the record in a Saph Cossie. Rod Tarry is his name and he broke the 200 mph mark at Bruntingthorpe. This was all covered by Performance Ford Magazine. His car's engine has about 650-700bhp with another 100 bhp via NOS. He's nearly 60 years old BTW and a lovely guy. His previous record was about 180 mph. That was with 550 bhp and the 180 mph was at the time one of the best properly recorded top speeds for a Cossie. Also don't forget Cossies only weigh about 1200 kg's so won't need much distance to get up their. See http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/news7.htm Based on this I would say the Zed would probably achieve 175 mph ish. Maybe a little faster.
  16. Weight is the enemy... PS: That's a bargain price in the window, £2999. I'd have bought it for that...
  17. Cool.... Get some pics up. I hate BMW's as you know....
  18. Hard to drive fast but not hard to drive...well not according to Mansell. He's been criticising for a whilke now on how easy modern F1 cars are to drive and makeing the point that years of experience aren't needed anymore....e.g. Hamilton. I think they are just very different to what Hamster is used to. No different than giving someone a Superbike who has never ridden a bike before.
  19. The rear in particular. Maybe it was the same designer. He did come from Leicester. Intersting also is the fact it's a 2 litre V10 with 300 bhp.
  20. Saw one of these outside a specialist dealer yesterday. Took me ages to found out what it was. Interesting car although not too pretty. Has a hint of 350z about it. Not sure on price but suspect big money. Spec Type-D GT Syracuse • 2 + 2 with room to spare • In house designed 2 litre V10 • 300bhp delivers 0-60mph in sub 5 seconds • Every car built to individual specification • Orders now being taken • First customer cars early 2008 See also http://www.connaughtmotorco.com/ and http://www.worldcarfans.com/2060703.003 ... blic-debut
  21. Depends what you are looking for. My Lotus has Yokohama Advans A048's which are super sticky, but the rears will wear out every 6k miles...
  22. Surely being the most sucessful rookie in F1 ever deserves something....like a £10M contract with McLaren next year..
