  1. Stock Speedos tend to over read by 5mph say at 60 mph your actually doing 55, it's not a bad thing I like to think of it as a safety margin. Matching tyre sizes on bigger wheels is often s best fit scenario. And is rare to be dead on the same as original. So as you found the slightly larger rear diameter has increased your rolling radius and.increased your speed compared to the Speedo. Just becareful through the cameras now as 70 for you is 70 and no error margin.
  2. Jet pilots right, you sacrifice tyre profile for wheel diameter. The rolling radius stays almost the same regardless of wheel size. If not you'll throw the Speedo out. Only thing I would say is 19's will make the calipers more visible. If you have piddly little brake calipers, then bigger wheels can make your car look like it's on rollerskates. If you go for a very open wheel I'd make sure you have the calipers and discs to fill them. I run 20" wheels on my car but then I also have huge 6 pot fronts and 4 pot rear calipers mounted on 355mm discs. It all looks in proportion.
  3. Ekona you remember my crash in the mr2 yours sounds almost identical to what I went though. It does knock your confidence, but it will come back. I have found in the many years since that crash that I think it's made me an even better driver in the wet. I tend to read the road and conditions even better now. I'll ring you later am interested to know who's car you borrowed. Does their name begin with M?
  4. Who are you calling a buddy Now your talking you sexy hairy devil shhhh not in front of my children.
  5. It's all good, Dave and I are buddies.
  6. It's no skin off my nose. Was just trying to help a member. They can use who ever they like. If they want to travel down and see sly I don't mind. He's a good mechanic with a good rep on the forum. I'm not here to defend the garage I use. It's the op's choice where he goes and it's not like he's losing out. I just thought I could save him the petrol money.
  7. You need to read your own text. Most of that I knew, but the guy says no more scavenging after the y pipe. An x or h pipe replace the y pipe. And if built properly are set slightly back anyway. Which is where the scavenging happens. That whole text is on how pipe diameter affects exhaust pressure. It makes perfect sense but it completely agrees with what I said originally.
  8. I think it's just a bit quick to jump to a conclusion. They are normally very good at answering the phone. Just because some one is good at answering a phone doesn't make them good as a garage. Kwikfit are brilliant at answering a phone. Still wouldn't let them change a tyre on a toy car.
  9. I had a similiar issue when working in my local wetherapoons now I'm banned from all the national branches. Some bloke called me a bar steward. I called him a ***** and punched him in the face. Next thing I know I've got the sack.
  10. None, it's a top service, I always pop in, in person, but I've known then for years. They are very busy, lots of business I have to book in advance to get in. I never have a problem when I ring. Must just have been unlucky. I would urge you to at least visit in person before making your mind up. They are very good at what they do.
  11. Any product like this is better than nothing. I use the piaa stuff and have used the rainx, there are a few others I plan to try.
  12. Team AFM round the corner from you really are worth a visit. They serviced my zed and work on at least 4 others I know. Plus they did all my s2k work and xkr work. Be a lot easier than travelling all those miles. And they are one of the few places I trust with my cars.
  13. from memory the only change was a bigger belt
  14. On the xkr super charger there are 2 pulleys you can change. You can either put a larger lower pulley on the bottom, or a smaller pulley at the top. You can do both but theen you need to upgrade the charge coolers. Jag runs a proper old school top mounted twin screw charger setup. Unlike the bolt on snail shells like the vortech setups.
  15. With the new job and babies i'm going diesel
