sounds like the sodding french have taken over

the LED seating stuff is clever

same here tyre profile plays a huge part with these tyres to how well they perform. and i'm on a low 30 profile and i bet coldel is too. i still stand by the point that having run the falkens on both the S2000 and the XKR both on low 30 profiles i've been extremely happy with them.

good luck with the project, they look awesome with a wide arch kit and a set of superlite mini mag wheels. back of the mini world mags have shed loads of stuff and they are so cheap to mod. as its a first car i'm guessing to keep insurance down you won;t be putting a huyabusa engine in it just yet or doing the type R conversion with a clubman nose to make it fit

The greddy or the tannabe would be top of my list. qulaity systems from a well known brand

i'm sure we had a thread already, buti may be confusing it with one of the many car clubs i've been on

Yokahama AD08 review here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Yokoh ... a-AD08.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yokohama V103 review here (known as the Advan sport) http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Yokoh ... -Sport.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bridgestone S001 review here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Bridg ... a-S001.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ S001's were the stock tyre for the S2000, not bad in the dry, but unpredictable in the wet, many people binned them off the car as they had a reputation of being crap for the car. not run them perosnally, but seeing how unpopular they were on a car that came with them from the factory kind of puts you off them. as for the yoko's i do have a soft spot for them. of the 2 i'd say the AD08's are the better tyre. again run by a few on the S2000 club who said they were great. although it looks like atrack tyre they said it was pretty good through standing water etc. and yoko do have a trend for making sexy tyres.

lots of options, milltek is nice as are the tarmac options, think its a case of choose your exhaust then choose a suitable supplier.

as long as its progressive there's nowt wrong with letting go. i have falkens in 285/30/20 and 255/35/20 and i struggle to get them to let go on anything other than gravel and thats with TCS turned off and nearly 400BHP of SC'd V8 behind it. in the wet, on roundabouts, country roads, standing water etc its well planted. now the pirelli Pzero assimetricos on the other hand felt horrific in rain. you could feel the backend wonder at speed. not a pleasant experience. so i think that the issue with the tye for the zed is most likely to do with the fact that the zed needs bigger wheels as standard with a lower profile and a wider footprint, for those that feel they need more grip. speak to husky he had 19's with 295/30/19 on the back and god knows what on the front and he said he had more grip than he needed and that was with sessantas. just couldn't break traction. the thing is thats all well and good if you want grip that sticks like sh1t to a bears arse. but the zed drives better with a progressive setup. you want the car to be able to kick out on occasion, a bit of gentle oversteer at the rear. yes the car is setup for more understeer, but thats what nissan setup to make it safer for numpties. if the zed was meant to be imovable nissan would have put bigger wheels on. they didn't they put 18" 245/45/18's and 225/45/18's on so the car had character, some play, a bit of excitement. but not enough to kill you the first time you sit in it.

its better than the toyo's but everyone seems to think they are gods gift to jap rubber. personally i've found the 452's are alot better than the T1R's
-
its gorgeous, apparently there is only one and its in the heritage museum at the moment up in cov, it was crashed back in the 60's and then rebuilt in the 70's, but it never raced, as the gt40's came out and jaguar realised the XJ13 required a massive amount of work to make it competitive against ford.

alot of insurance prices comes down to area and job title. yes accidents and no claims points etc all play a part. when i swapped from the MR2 to the zed it dropped by £200 but thats because the mr2 was mid engined and rear wheel and prone to crashing the s2000 was more expensive than the zed by £60 again it has a reputation for crashing. but i have been very suprised at the XKR cheapest yet. i pay £380 for 380 bhp its like a £ per BHP

i know what you mean, and looking at the toyo replacement for the T1R isn't going down brilliantly, i'm watching this one closely. got the 452's at the mo, but might swap to something else in 18 months 2 years time when these run out. had the 452s for 12 months already and 10,000 miles. i think they have at least another 15,000 or 20,000 left in them.

This is the new 453 looks like they've gone the same way design wise as toyo Bstone and conti etc. bye bye uni directional tread patterns.

most of the GT40's were around the 180 mark, the XJ220 was at 197 mph but he had got a to a point where he was taping the joins removing wipers etc to eek out as much as possible. the mclaren le mans car even changed gearbox to put long gears in to try and beat it. must admit at idol the XJ220 sounds very agricultural. what was great was the cheif designer of the XJ13 was there and he was helping the owner of the XJ220 make it more streamline. the bloke had come to see the cars but ended up sitting on the floor with the owner cutting up a folder to reduce drag on the grille for those unfamiliar of the XJ13 this is it. the designer was a really nice bloke was good to have a chat with him.

This was my first Jag meet, and to be fair it wasn't really an exclusive XK only event. and this is why i thought i would share with you guys some of the stuff that turned up. instead of filling a page full of IMG links i thought it would be easier if i did them as a slide show/movie so there isn;t so much to scroll through. If you enjoyed the pics then this video is a compilation of all the footage i shot on the day, most of which is the cars going up the runway. the runway is 2.5 miles long and when i left the fastest car down there had done 197mph but there was a couple of runs left but i went home before they finished so not sure if they hit the magic 200 mph. i'll leave you to guess which was the quickest car. and as a final video piece for all you petrol heads i thought you all might enjoy this little bit of audio porn it was a reall mix of a day, and some cracking cars there. really enjoyed myself and all the guys were really friendly all the drivers were very welcome for you to come and have a look. and i must admit there was a lot of cash there vehicle wise. i think all the GT40's were original. i'll tell you what the yellow car is later, but its an origianl le mans car.

I think hexis do a red carbon will have to check.

great engines lots of toys a biug v8 and you can always pm me when it needs a gentle fix. think the S type is pretty solid, main issues most likely will be electrical gremlins, but suprisingly most can be fixd with a battery reset

don't use engine flush its a real last resort option and even then its not a good idea. it tends to dislodge alot of crap yes...and then move it in to vital lines and filters etc clogging and starving the engine. best advice is not to mix oils i.e. when you top up as this can cause gunking. if you must flush the engine use a cheap mineral oil, run it for a week and then drain it, and possibly do the same again, then put your nice oil in. would i bother with this; no gone are the days of the old enginew where its really needed. just change your oil often, and don't mix the stuff. if your uisng Gulf oil, stick to it, if your using castrol, stick to that etc for top ups.
