  1. The 2.4 is the better engine, 1.9 is good, but according to HJ the 2.4 is a more solid option
  2. Petrol and diesel technology is not far off peaking, its a dieing technology, hybrid and alternative fuel tech is where its going.
  3. That was my first choice, but as my wife has the family car at the mo it was all I needed, but she's sing at Xmas to a small car and I'm getting the family wagon and the Alfa estate is too small boot wise. Wife current boot is around 560 litres. Alfa is about 410. So I'm tempted by the 530d from BMW has 500 litres good performance and mpg. Or I might go down the xc90 or toureg road. But the mpg plummets on them. Trying to avoid the V70 route.
  4. I'm looking at them as well at the moment, but may need something bigger. Honest John website best info in their car review section. Gives all things to look for. But short version is: go for the 2.4 diesel, as its better, les issues etc. Check sub frame for rust, if it has it or caught early £100 job to have it sealed. Check Campbell is changed on time. Dpf can block but that's a standard diesel issue if its a short journey only car. But reliability is good, the 159 has made big changes. If you want to see unreliable go check out some of the german marques on honest John.
  5. The Alfa 159 2.4 diesel sounds quite good, and my mate races a 120d which has been stripped out and tweaked and that sounds good, it also spanks lots of faster cars round Woodbridge track. But that's partly due to the driver being a pro.
  6. Weigh it and then go to parcel2go with your postcode and where you want to send it and it will give you a price. don't forget to allow for packaging weight
  7. I love how people have condemned the job before he's even done it. I worked out of my garage doing this and as far as I'm aware the results were more than acceptable.
  8. its the banter on this forum that keeps me here. the cars been around long enough that most things have been done at least once and discussed 100 times. which has created a forum which is more akin to the zed bible than just a forum. what makes this forum such a past member magnet is that it still maintains a lot of off topic and fun banter, not just on zeds but life in general. I've been on pretty much every forum of every marque of car I've owned. I've kept a few friends from each, but I don't post on them anymore. but the zed club and some of its members has kept me interested and posting. jag club.... zed club.... it should just be called ....car friends if I had the time i'd find the inbetweeners link
  9. see I found the zed v6 along way off from a v8, partly why I sold it and via a dog leg, now have a v8. Those extra 2 pistons make a big difference to sound, even on tick over.
  10. I paid £380 for my Xbox one and it came with titanfall. Why spend £500?
  11. Coldel, couple that with the the fact that many owners found the zed to be as much as 20 BHP down on quoted figures at least on the early cars, doesn't help either. And if you don't run them on the proper fuel that can knock a chunk of ponies off as well.
  12. Don't forget the 350 figures were on the generous side, the 0-60 is achievable but you need to be able to drive like a pro touring car driver.
  13. see most of my other cars I was sad to see go or sell them. Zed was the first car I was ever glad to see the bCk of. And I don't know quiet why
  14. Aren't the high fees to help cover their expensive acting lessons so they can dive and roll around as if they'd been picked off by a sniper on the roof. Most would be stacking shelves if they couldn't kick a ball around
  15. No car does everything perfectly or if it does its out of most peoples price range. I found the zed a bit of a let down, not the cars fault, I think my expectations were higher than what it could actually deliver. What frustrated me was the exterior looked expensive, but the interior plastics were a major let down, The stock engine note was lack lustre, and even with exhausts and intakes it never made the best sound, it made a good sound, but I had better noises from some modded 4 pots. The driving position put my hip out, the pedals were poorly set for heel and toe, and a whole list of other niggles By the time I sold it I had fallen well out of love, its strongest feature was the club. Cars are like Cinderella slippers, not all fit everybody, what works for one is crap for another. When you come out of the security of a club forum, you may find that there are more out there who the zed doesn't fit. Doesn't make them wrong or you right, it just means its not their cup of tea. This threads as useful as tits on a bull!
  16. Met the guy a couple of times, nice bloke. Music is good too.
  17. If your doing lots it helps to set up a wear so that you can flush the surface water off without having to empty and start again with the water. Good water heater and water thermometer help. Choose your materials and suppliers wisely. Use the wrong paint and you'll have stuff coming back to be re done. Or the etching process won't take as well.
  18. To make 30 BHP gains your looking at spending probably £1500, even then there is no gaurenteevyou'll even get close.
  19. Driving character and engine noise, characteristics are all very personal opinions. There is no right answers, only personal preferences.
  20. I guess this was aimed at me? Yes I have, hence why I gave my opinion, I wouldn't have otherwise. actually I was talking to my friend wasso, who I know well, and in hindsight the omnipotent comment was a little harsh, even to someone I know.
  21. issue the zed has, sounds really dull stock, and then better with after market.
  22. Nsx v6 is a cracker as well, proper race engine
  23. Comparing figures is all fine and dandy but have you actually driven one? I said better performing, not better performance. How the torque is delivered in comparison to speed and the rev range, how the engine works with the car etc. Drive them first before passing an all omnipotent decision on cars
  24. Looking good mate, looks like I'm going to have to sell before I finish. Kids going to nursery has kept up quicker than I could finish.
