  1. http://www.evo.co.uk/buying/buyingguide ... oints.html this answers most questions
  2. sorry more details the concept isbuilt and based on Renault's Megane Trophy car, a spaceframe racer about as road legal as a Top Fuel dragster. It uses the race car's 400bhp, 3.5-litre V6, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. the race-ready V6 won't stay, a production Alpine probably using some version of the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder from the RenaultSport Megane. That engine makes 247bhp in the hot hatch, but could easily be bumped up to 300bhp or so. A modest-displacement powerplant remains faithful to the original A110 philosophy Renault is targeting a kerbweight under 1,000kg for the production Alpine. Good news indeed. and they plan to keep it RWD as well i think they're aiming at around lotus elise pricing
  3. I loved my french car when i had it; was a great Pug 306GTi6 and although not quiet as mighty as the 205GTi i think the 306GTi6 was possibly the last decent car pug built. the clios and megans from renault never really tempted me, and nothing from citreon has even raised an eyebrow from me. so for the last 10 years i've kind of sidelined my french fetish. until today i saw the links to renaults new alpine concept. they've gone and built a fully working alpine A110 and i have to say i think its looking pretty damn fine. The old and the new I really hope they build it, i have no idea of a price bracket, what it handles like or anything, but its a pretty car. for those who haven't seen the topgear article here is the link http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/renaul ... ?imageNo=0
  4. pads might have glazed, could be cheap pads, difficult to guess when i don't know what the old pads where or actually seeing and handling them. when was the last time the brake fluid was done? should be done every other year. inless you track it then should be done every other track day or after every track day if you drive like greekman braided brake lines may help with firming up the pedal feel.
  5. i think the improved performance is in the pipe itself i.e. it will last longer. they have threads woven inside them for strength. they are mostly for making it look pretty. they aren't cheap though, and you'd be best getting some nice mikalor clamps to finish the look off with.
  6. its a good feeling when you do something like that yourself whats the next planned practical activity
  7. people go to garages out of convience or incompentence
  8. i don't think the issue is the age of the person posting the thread; more the fact that long standing members are menstrating all over them.
  9. i think the term older is in reference to how long people have been on here, not their actual age.
  10. not everyone who buys a car is technically minded. i've sorted cars at work out for colleagues (all female) for issues such as, "i didn;t know your meant to put air in the tyres or check them" "it has a what?stick, why would you dip that in oil" "cars use oil?" alot of people just buy cars and drive them...until they go bang
  11. just had a look and your right there isn;t a sticky for it. although i think it is mentioned in the FAQ section
  12. it will still get asked and people will still have to either link to this or re type the info. because however good stickies are; people don;t use them, especially if they are new. they don't know their way around, so they just ask a question. that fuel question coming up again is as gaurenteed as the sun rising tomorrow morning.
  13. stick the good stuff in engine goes boom on bad stuff
  14. if its tedious reading them, do what i do on other threads, as soon as i start to get bored, i just click the back button. problem solved A) you don't have to read it you don't have to post on it yes these posts aren;t the best but their are younger drivers coming through who want to learn more about the car. so are going to ask the annoying questions or do the "car comparison thing" its no different to down the pub. call it a down side to being a long termer that the same old crap comes round and round. doens;t mean you have to menstrate on it.
  15. personally spending 2k on the zed performance wise will make it feel better but you won;t see a massive performance gain. NA tuning on a zed is generally a lost cause. do it for the noise, or the extra feel and feedback etc. but if you want gains, save your cash and either buy an FI setup, or save it up towards your next car which could be FI.
  16. he's not road racing, is this no different to drag racing? if people want to discuss driving their car fast and they're doing it legally why should it be shifted to the green room just because you don't like it. if you don't like the thread don't read it/ post on it. can't say i'm persoanlly that interested but its getting a bit tedious watching long standing members berate newer members.
  17. red or orange works well. as it pulls in the colours from else where (well the orange doens't but its in the same colour spectrum as red) if there was pink else where on the car you could do a hot pink etc, but you start to make the car look cluttered the more colours you add in.
  18. i can see that ibiza is really struggling to put that power down
