  1. recently i've been trying to find what my spirit is as at the mo i'd drink most things but not norrowed it down. my mate john is a vodka man as is sarnie. got another man who is a whiskey and brandy drinker. (mainly brandy) none of which i mind, but not what i call a favourite. so i got browsing on the whiskey exchange to see what was about. noticed the rum section and started reading. ended up popping out and buying a bottle of sailor jerry spiced rum. partly becuase so many people were moaning that they had changed the receipe back in 2010 and they had ruined it. so wanted to see what all the fuss was about. have to say i think i've just become a rum lover, well a spiced rum lover smells and tastes good neat, but just discovered if mixed with ginger beer over ice with a twist of lime its bloody amazing. so my question is, are there any rum lovers out there? do you have any reccomendations to try? any good mixers to try with it?
  2. but they'd be the best black eyes and a broken nose ever
  3. i'd like to be asleep on that chest when it happens
  4. Why take any risks at all? Gawd does everyone here spin out and crash at the slightest hint of bad weather? The only issue i've had in the zed last winter was I wasn't able to get it around a corner with some camber and a slope, it was fine otherwise. On, wait for it.... Falkens!!! Change lanes or apply some power whilst changing lanes? The vxr8 is no doubt an entirely different beast to the 350z, doesn't it make pretty much all the power from low revs? You can have an accident at any time, does that mean you should stop driving? What about patches of oil, they don't only happen in bad weather? falkens on the XKR and on the last car, both driven in snow, both been fine. i alwyas took the corners knowing i was going to slide, and drove it like a drift car all at low speeds, great fun for the drive to work. my issue in that weather though was not the snow or the car, it was other drivers in the snow, as most road users don;t seem to know how to drive in the snow. i drove my old zed in the snow on barely legal re040's in the snow, very twitchy, but i didn't die.
  5. where we up to on the list? who's next on the ted story
  6. my wife drives my XKR; i only have one rule; you break it you pay for it i've let her take it on her own, and she knows how precious i am over my car so she rings me to tell me she's got there safely if i;ve been drinking and she drives it with me in it, i keep pressing the sport button and tell her to put her foot down even though it has loads of power she doesn;t use it, which is fine by me. my only woryy is not that she can;t drive it with out me, its what happens if she breaks down in it with out me once the timing chains are done this shouldn't be a worry. i know she can drive, she's very good, the boys fromo MR2ROC know she can drive. she'll never beat me on track and she's not really interested in tracking cars. she has her own car, its worth more than mine and she has the same rule as well. if i break it i pay for it my mate has a scooby and he lets his missus drive it all the time, he doesn;t mind as she drives it out of boost everywhere, so he gets great mpg, and knows she won;t spank it as she won;t be going fast enough she doesn;t like the turbo power. its only a zed, its insured, and if your worried about the fuel get her to top it back up when she gets home.
  7. i did my own logo work on photoshop for rtcustomz, if you cant' find a pro, i can have a go if that helps.
  8. as for grip in general (summer tyres) bigger wheels help, but quality of tyre choice will have the largest impact. go for a good quality high performance spec like the MPS2 or the super sport or like a semi track tyre like the R888's will allow you to put the power down. if you go to 19" i think you'll struggle to find R888's but there are plenty of other options, but they do start to get expensive. Michelin super sports for my 20" are about £350 a tyre
  9. near 400 bhp now and was fine in the winter and that was summer tyres as well. not saying it was a pleasant experience but its do able. if you really want to run 500 bhp in the winter, invest in a nice set of 18" wheels and bung some decent winter rubber on. with winter tyres narrow is better if your planning snow work. also narrow tyres are less likely to aquaplane than wider wheels. 18" also have a wider selection of tyre options for winter rubber. summer tyres are designed for summer, drop the temp to 0 degrees and below and the compounds rapidly lose effectiveness. doesn;t matter if your running michelin PS2's in the snow they will be alot worse than they should be. get some michelin winter tyres and you'll be laughing
  10. Tarmac Sportz - Crack for pistonheads Tarmac Sportz - making ugly cars pretty since 2010 Tarmac sportz - passion for your wagon Tarmac sportz - you want it; we got it
  11. after seeing this i'm tempted to do the red bits purple instead, but not sure if it would work. if i did this i'd also do the calipers purple as well. which would mean changing the wheel colour from gold to anthracite. i've been told the wheel centres i like aren;t as red as the photo. so i'm waiting to see the badge i've ordered for something else, and then i might colour match it to the background of that. you get so close to making your mind up then bang, it gets changed lol
  12. i always reassign my own bodyshop for work on my cars and never go on insurance reccomendations. they are only bothered about fixing a car for the cheast cost possible. which doesn;t always lead to the best job. your the 2nd person in a month to have had dodgy insurance work done.
  13. right i've got it planned now, this is what the rocker covers will be like once completed although i'm planning a more gloss finish and this is the rough plan for the engine bay already have an after market carbon airbox, but might upgrade for a polished intake tube to match in with the other bits in the engine bay. i know the red isn't really unique but it fits in with other details that are on or going on the car, like the wheel centres, the original SC XKR badge and the colour of the car. thought about going unique with the car, but at the end of the day its a jag and not a jap performance car. if i ever sell it, the car still has to appeal to the usual market. with the engine done though i'll next be looking at sorting the body work out, then cleaning up the wheels, and finally sorting the interior. during that time i'll probably have to do the bushes, maybe change suspension, but then the car should be close to mint.
  14. lots of 0% cards out at the moment
  15. keyser i don't like green that is for my own cars, if others like it
  16. don't worry there will be no blue, keeping it in theme with whats origianlly on the car. wrinkle i think is out. if i was to use it i would have done the rocker covers in it. the s2000 rocker cover was wrinkle and yes it does get dirty. it will most likely be a hammerite finish, as it works well with the heat in the engine and its harder wearing than normal paint. plus it will be cheaper to do than a full paint job but still look good. If i wasn;t dropping £1k on chain tensioners at the same time, i'd be more up for spending more. that and the cost of carbon finishing the rocker covers and the purchase of a new posh bonnet liner, and probably the need to splash some cash on some new ally bits. these are the hammerite paint colours. http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/dir ... finish.jsp might even look at the hammered finish http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/dir ... finish.jsp colour short list at the mo Red White copper gold
  17. not seen some of them before very good
