  1. they are starting to show their age; and i'm not sure if its a good thing.
  2. only just got it setup was running it earlier but had to pop out for a phono to phono cable for the OSD output. and it took me ages to find the button on the remote that said home currently have no sub, as i couldn;t get hold of the 5m of cable i needed...well i could have but i would have paid an extorionate amount of money for something that to all intents and purposes is a mono signal to the sub. I'm hoping it will arrive tomorrow. I finally managed to do the auto MCACC setup and its crisped everythnig up nicely. currently watching spider man (the new one) on sky.and the speakers are performing extremely well. the sound out of the kefs is beautifully clear. can hear the tiniest of sounds. looking forward to testing it with the sub hopefully tomorrow with the blacks ops II test. so far am very happy chappy. with a setup that should have cost just over a grand for the grand total of £400 thats AVR, speakers, stands, QED cable, LAN cable, HDMI cable, Twin Phono cable and 5 m of sub cable.
  3. ekona and zedrush would be my first ports of call. they know the 911's quiet well.
  4. It's something she wants and practical what could go wrong you say that but you should see the on going grief i get from my wife because i bought her pegs and a peg basket one year. and it wasn't even the cheap pegs either, it was really nice wooden ones. i even remember her saying oooo thats a nice cath kidston peg basket. which to me says "get it for me for christmas" how wrong i was.
  5. Well i got back from parents evening, ate dinner and then fell asleep. woke up got a rollocking from the wife as i hadn't set it up to her specification (everything hidden) compared to my specification (everything on show). spent a bit of time move subs around hidding them behind chairs, moving speakers. (now have one in each corner; as apposed to 2 either side the TV). got in a grump with the wife after getting bored of being told what to do. she went to bed and this is when i set too routing all the cables from their new location to the AVR. have now trimmed all the ends, and carefully wired them all up.(labelling as i went) now i can't fully test it as i need some more cables.i did try and get some on my way home but they didn;t have everything i needed so i'm going to a proper shop tomorrow afternoon and get it all then. i need 1 more HDMI to connect from the AVR to the TV and 5m of RCA male to Twin RCA male for connecting the sub. and a LAN cable for the networking function. and a video out RCA cable just incase my TV doesnt do ARC. so to do a quick test i managed to get a FM signal and the fronts crackled in so it seems they work. excited about a proper test tomorrow.
  6. i can;t wait to go set it up; just trying to work out if i should do it tonight or do the marking that desperatly needs doing for tomorrow. .....ok hifi setup it is lol
  7. my hand crafted aluminium dipstick, oil filler and coolant tops were £150 all in. why they can charge £160 for HKS i have no idea. they'll have had it manufactured else where, branded it. and flogged it for 3000% its original value
  8. did a quick cable length check and it looks like it will reasch with some to spare, so splicing is saved for another day. AMP arrived this evening, but i''m now back at work for parents evening. on way home going to pick up a LAN cable, HDMI cable, and a male to twin male RCA cable for the sub. as for first thing to play, it will probably be tested with the TV and then a movie as thats its primary role. but tomorrow while the wife is out, i shall run some music through it for a proper test
  9. its alright i'm going to be splicing cable together this weekend. got a fair amoun, but i think the rear right cable won';t reach so i'm going to splice an extension onto it.
  10. thats not NoS she's on that looks like a come down off novacaine
  11. they have QED cables, i already have HDMI cables and i didn;t spend masses on them i boughtstandard ones. one thing is missing is a cable from sub to amp. and just waiting on the amp; should be here tomorrow
  12. hate apple, love dyson have to say tried others, and they clogged andf died. as for dyson it does the job well and is well built. we bought ours because it deals better with pet hair than any other we've tried. as a side note i acutally like james dyson for alot of the work he's doing in education to boost interest in technology and design. i came very close to applying to a job when they were expanding their research centre about 24 months ago. i like the way he tackles problems and the way they do things. i didn;t buy it becuase its the latest fashion, i bought it becuase it does a job. easy to maintain, easy to empty and clean. best suction with all the other functions included.
  13. he's going alternative travel and going to work on one of these now
  14. i found the zed pedal setup as standard very bad for heel and toe, it was the worst car yet to do it in, and the 380RS pedal didn;t help. you also need to change the height of the brake pedal and raise it, as i found i couldn't get the pressure on the pedal enough to apply brake. but raise the brake pedal and it make slife easier. still not the best pedal setup i've driven. the S2000 and the MR2 both had pedal setups that just made the whole process natural. but the zed set you really have to work at. i have a dodgy ankle so for normal people it might not be so bad. but the biggest issues is the pedals aren;t at the same height.
  15. keep it at 65 all the way and your laughing, those last 5 mph and every mph over 70 has a larger impact on fuel usage than every thing before hand. if you can do it at 55 mph you'll get about 550 miles to a tank.
  16. i shall find out what i'm working with this evening when i go pick it all up
  17. my parents say i have an olive complection due to my australian heritage, i say its not easy being green
