  1. Happy Birthday Pete and as Will says, hope Caroline is recovering well
  2. OEM headers (for now), custom straight down pipes into the Motordyne. I'm planning a full 3" custom build system later this year. But yeah the sounds with V8 are just down right dirty no matter which gear, cruising, deceleratin, changing gear up or down there's a noise for every moment. My favourite is full chat, change gear BANG and POP then back on the go pedal. I'll get some decent videos up soon.
  3. Niiiice I wouldn't say no to that. It's not just the HP figures though, Torque is friggin insane equally over 1k easily. Just mad, totally mad!
  4. I've already put his name forward for Nelson Racing in the US. They make 1k+ monster engines pretty much all day long. Nelson Racing can be found on YouTube if anyone is interested.

    enybody WTF!
  6. Didn't realise you had kept the same exhaust with the V8. Thought you had a new exhaust fabricated up.... Sounded awesome even before the V8 went in Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk Agreed, the TDX I would say is the best sounding exhaust out there for the Zed. It's not though to everyone's taste purely as it's quite loud, especially with no CATS! We had to fabricate from headers to Y, so a simple straight and simple downpipe was constructed. I will be heading towards a full custom exhaust, as I have exciting plans for the rear end! Would love to hear that V8 in person with the TDX2! Must sound the nuts! I was surprised with the sound from the camera to be fair, was expecting alot more wind and road noise, I'm sure you can tweak the sound settings before and after you've recorded but I wouldn't have a clue! There is almost zero drone on mine which is weird considering you had some on yours? Only thing I must say about the exhaust is the fitting was a little fiddly to get everything to clear the respective parts so nothing is touching. We had to pack the centre box up that meets with Y pipe and tighten everything up before removing the packers, otherwise it just sat on the brace which caused some vibration in the cabin. But now I've got a solid 8mm of clearance which is perfect. It is really nice, really dirty low down, accentuates all sounds from the engine, but the pops and bangs are just wicked with the TDX. I was running straight de-cats, maybe the ARTS reduce the drone maybe. I know that 70mph 6th gear was a ball ache on the motorway, maybe it's just my age showing. Funny thing is the V8 and 6th gear is bloody heaven, it's like everything has been switched off, sound levels are blissful. Yeah I am getting old lol. Oh and yes, fitment is fiddly, get it wrong and you have a number of rattles coming from underneath!
  7. As you asked very nicely..... I may have to charge £5 per PAX - I swear to god fuel doesn't last long!

  9. This is one of the reasons I kept my TDX with the V8. When driving with the V6 the drone was pretty heavy, but with the V8 there's hardly any drone at all. It's mad! The exhaust now in comparison sounds totally different, in fact absolutely perfect now the drone has gone. Nice vid, def catches the sounds nicely with no road noise.

    LSz V8 engine

Might be a little though to source in the U.K. New see Partsworld in Cannock. Used possibly Monkfish in Milton Keynes. If you fancy import head or Cleveland Pick a Part in the US, which where I got mine.
  11. I'm not able to attend, I won't be returning back to the UK until the afternoon of the 15th
  12. Near Banbury (Oxfordshire). There's one other guy who's gone with a LSx, although not forum based. Other than that Bizz? Not too sure Chris would go through the pain again Cheers, it's taken it's toll in a number of ways. I'll be at the Coventry meet in July
  13. A relevant update needed I guess since Chris has been hard at work with his engineering and mathematical skills over the last few weekends. The list of items to deal with, the first 3 from a couple of weekends ago: Fix rattle/squeak from the rear of the car (exhaust) Plumb heater matrix system Fix clutch issue (gears not engaging well) Resolve power steering leak Fix erratic temperature gauge! Rattle from the exhaust was a simple fix undertaken by Bob, rubber hose on the exhaust hanger as it was banging against a metal bracket. Heater matrix went without any issues, now I have heat in the car which was a blessing a couple of weeks ago. Clutch issue wasn't really a tough problem, only as Chris made it look so easy. Long and short of it was clutch travel was right to the floor, although still proving to be tough on 1st 3rd and reverse. Measuring clutch pedal travel, taking this measurement and working out how much master travel we had, I believe we found we were at 60% efficiency. The master would be over mach reach after measurement, so Chris set to work and custom built an extension for the master (after a few swear words) we then went for the re-fit. Bleeding the clutch was no issue at all and now all gears are engaging like a dream. Additionally the clutch pedal is now glorious, far better than the clicky and heavy clutch of the original VQ clutch. After heading home and taking the car to work the next Monday, I was scheduled to get the alignment done. All good apart from having -2 degrees negative camber at the front and the garage identified I had a power steering leak. Suspected to be a custom pipe we engineered leaving the steering rack, I believed this wasn't a major leak and a job for when I'm next down. Although, journey home was a little more concerning, the water temps maxed out!! Possibly linked to the plumbing of the heater matrix, air in the system, or sensor failure. Pretty confident the water isn't overheating and managed to get home from London. After plugging my OBD into the ECU, it would become apparent the ECU is also seeing fluctuating water temps from 80-120 degrees. Chris and Emerald both believe it's a likely coolant temp sensor especially as water temps recorded manually were 85 degrees. One ordered from America at £35, especially as I wasn't going to pay £80 in the UK, the wait was on. So we are now at this weekend.... Chris quickly identified the coolant temp sensor issue, which turned out to be the dipstick rubbing on the coolant sensor wires and had worn through to the wire core. This was then earthing out on the dipstick. Easy fix, job done! So, what's the cause of the power steering leak, we think it's likely to be a hose with a small split caused by rubbing against the subframe. Fine, not a problem, job done. Nope, we are still leaking fluids.... steering rack loosened off and it would appear one of the hard lines going into the input of the rack was loose, no problem, tighten it up. That's when issues start escalating, a few turns tightening up and the thread appears to be totally shagged. After considering a number of options and the fact it's mid Friday afternoon we attempt a helicoil fix, although again we are still leaking fluid. So the next morning we spent nearly 2hrs trying every conceivable breakers yard to get hold of a 350 steering rack. In all cases the response was no. The closest option was Cambridge 170 miles away to see Jon @ Emperor, so we set off at 12:30pm and picked up the rack from Jon at 3:30pm. Back by 7pm for some well eared rest. Onto this morning and after a number of measurements the rack was fitted and no more leaks! Have to say, from measurements and of course Chris's knowledge sorted the steering out perfectly. In fact it's that good I'll put £5 on the table his alignment is bang on the money, and will be checked for alignment during this week. Finally Chris went out (as I know he loves it) for a spin in Suzanne and just watch his face enjoying the brutality of the V8. If anyone is considering a full on SC or Turbo build to consider a LS swap, it's truly outstanding. Not just torque delivery, but the burbles and growls that surround you no matter which gear or speed your doing. That's it for now, apart from front camber arms are needed to dial out that camber. Cheers for reading.
  14. Yeah it's a bit of a glory piece. When I'm next at Emerald in Thetford I'll drop by for cuppa.
  15. All sorted thanks Jon and good to meet you Also here's the build thread fast forward to page 40 for you. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/48567-suzanne-the-ls3-62-v8-caution-very-long-build-thread/page__st__780
  16. After no results in the Southern Hemisphere we have taken our next closest option of Jon@emporor! (Only a 6hr round trip)
  17. We tried that twice, he went before the third attempt! Thanks Jon and Alex, we tried Jon first as the only forum used parts outlet outside of Scotland. Chris did say fancy a trip to Scotland in the 70, but we then realised we'd be very late for watching F&F8 this evening. We tried our best to get by doing a helicoil fix but that failed also. There's two racks on ebay in the Southampton area and hopefully they're open tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
  18. If anyone has the above near the Zshed (Bournemouth) Thanks
  19. Has TwoBears taken over your profile? I mean really? Calculating what to do if there's a NUKE! I don't care if I'm in a targeted city or not but just grab a girl and tell her it's the end. Then if it's not, no loss on either part!
  20. Same tyres for Tyreleader £884.76 - that's a saving of £149 - so let's give the tyre man say £15 a tyre to balance and fit, which leaves me £89 to put fuel in the tank!
  21. Oh dear £1,033 fitted.... for 305 30 19 and 275 30 19 - that is an initial price without any haggling or improved supplier prices.
  22. I've already asked my local Michelin approved outfitter this morning, awaiting the report back this afternoon on best price!
  23. I'll make this brief, the noise is fecking epic.....! Forget the idle rumble, there's a whole orchestra of noises when driving!
  24. Weekend pref please. Oh and noise limits.....*cough* might need to bring some ear plugs!
