  1. Something I plan to check out in future...how do you find the alternative final drive? I'm also going to look into the Final Drive also - although next year as I've spent too much money this year. I've been informed by a number of resources the Final Drive is a great mod for acceleration, although take into account your top speed will reduce!!
  2. If the re-map is already done you really are only looking at minimal HP - I'd probably either go cosmetic or plenum spacer - great mod. And depending on your vehicle the lower plenum collector as recommended by Mark @ Abbey. Other than that, you won't get a great deal of improvement for £500. If only it was that easy. If you increased your budget a little NOS could be within your reach. I paid for the full package and started with a 25hp shot. For £12 I upgraded to 75hp jets. Simple upgrade once the outlay is made. Only problem being is there will be costs for Dyno setup, as well as costs to install unless you are a tad happy with a spanner and fancy doing the work yourself. I chose not to as I don't like tampering with fuel lines etc!! Good luck!
  3. I thought the interior was quite nice, loads of gadgets, nice roll bar, comfy seat for 1. Not too sure on the driver and passenger windows, if I recall they were plastic!
  4. Man oh man!! I should have asked..... But then again it would have bumped my final figure.... Something for next year, that's for sure.
  5. +1 HPI Check is important, depending of course on where you have purchased the vehicle. I'd refrain from using email with the DVLA - there's got to be a way in the door somehow. I'd persist with the automation until you can actually speak to a human!
  6. Just to confirm I will be going for the lower collector in the future, as when ordering my plenum spacer from Chilli they weren't in stock and would take some time to order, so it's on the back burner for now. Going back to the original question posted - "im looking for a bit more hp, if you could only have one performance mod what would it be. best value for money" I still strongly believe that NOS pound for HP and Torque is a good mod. A SC or Turbo is of course the next step. Although if you don't have a re-map the D1 Controller sounds spot on - good review. If you fancy the re-map as mentioned this does make the car respond very nicely.
  7. Sounds like the car's stolen?? If not ring DVLA....
  8. yes m8 2 intakes. its nothing unless you go FI. ok for small lotuses and stock m3s on the track but the zed is a heavy mofo. i v been destroyed by 240Zs, 300SXs, old rusty gtrs and the lot on sheer acceleration. +1 on martin I agree the zed is flipping elephant. I've gone along the way losing weight whilst adding weight at the same time. I'd be interested in seeing what weight the car is now. I also +1 to a track day it would be a good meet up and fairly safely test the zeds
  9. Greekman the HR engine sounds a good lump for modifications. You're running two intakes for those too eh? Don't fat tyres create more drag and require more power. Although the benefits are more grip?
  10. Bennett respect what you're saying although my 296bhp uk zed was producing 240hhp rather than whp before any mods or Uprev. After uprev and mods mapped I was running 258hhp. The NOS gives me a total of 309hhp. The Nos is therefore giving me a boost of 51hhp. Working that back to stock which was 240hhp and now running 309 that's a total of 69 added hub horse power. Who knows what the engine bhp is now but guessing at about 350bhp? I'll be honest and say Nos isn't the best for ultimate power but it suits my driving habits where I can turn the extra power on and off when I please. A super charger is going to give you a load more grunt. I just want to add my torque figures which are now at 298. As advised by Mark at Abbey I won't be able to juice more Nos than what I am already, as this could take me over the safe levels before forging the engine.
  11. Hardly going to make a difference. I made 18 HHP with plenum spacer, motordyne XYZ pipe, De-cats, Arc Induction and Uprev. So put that at the front and your maybe talking a + of 25bhp? Yes it does make a slight difference although to gain a bit more oooomph you need to think about FI. I've gone for NOS and I now run 309HHP - instead of 258HHP (after mods). Now that makes a difference.
  12. To be honest it depends on your definition of "bit more hp" is? 10, 20, 30, 40?? A remap is good for response but you're not going to get 40hp from this? You can increase your WHP by 20 and it really doesn't make a great deal of difference, none that will keep you amused for long. It also depends on the size of investment....
  13. That's a very good suggestion.... I've spent a fair few grand on my mod's and yes it's quicker, but pound for pound you'd do best getting a more powerful vehicle.
  14. Would a referb do that? Strip them back to original? That bus did look a bit fun, although doubting the colour.... could attract the wrong sort of people.
  15. I'll have them..... Only kidding.... If you want some worn Bridgestones to replace your Falkens let me know
  16. To save even more bother why not ferry to the hook of Volans that way you can get a overnight cabin and next morning you're in holland hey presto!
  17. I'd suggest camping in Belgium, more to see in a smaller country. Thing is with France you've got to do some miles to get anywhere near something nice. If Belgium doesn't take your fancy try Holland? I can't recommend camping sites, although I'd avoid the northern part of France.
  18. Email is fine - I'd send email - in addition also send it in the post. They sometimes have long delays with responding with emails. Read the terms of payment, or if in doubt check by calling them. I did this and if you're in dispute the charges will be frozen until they either force you to pay (lower charge), or remove the charge. It took a further 2 months to sort my claim out, as they sent me a DVD of my car going in the box. I might load it up one day for a laugh.
  19. You can dispute the charge. In doing so the charges are held - which includes the lower amount payable. If they find that you do not have a case, you then have the option to pay the lower amount. I did the same in London - I entered a box junction - there were road works ahead which I didn't realise and the two lanes of traffic wanted to merge into one. It caused both lanes to traffic back into the box. Due to the fact I was stationary they charged me, although I tried my hardest to dispute the charge. Once they confirmed I was still in the wrong, they said I have the option to pay the lower charge, rather than it increasing to the higher value. Put it in writting, with your photo's and they will freeze the charges. Good luck - you'll need it !!
  20. I'll second that How many noses did you have inspecting your Y pipe!
