  1. Or if you fancy 5/16 bright and funky spacer then just drop me a PM for a Wasso Spacer. These are £170 delivered and come complete with everything you need.
  2. Bragging rights Is there a difference in quality or looks about it? What's the difference in price for the two as well? Quality is about the same, price is a huge difference as you'd be lucky to find a genuine one this side of the pond Yes price is a big difference, in fact I still have my Original Chargespeed to sell, which I need to do pretty soon as I'm sure RT Performance are getting tired of looking after it for me.

You know you want one! I'd love to have one to play with I think I'm gonna be sick...... - ooooops too late......!!
  4. @ Grundy And also a normal full original chargespeed before the replacement copy chargespeed was fitted.

The Mrs already has one, blood good vehicle if you ask me. Thing is I want to be able to not care about the vehicle and chuck it places it shouldn't go. Funny you say that, a girl at work has one, the V8 version, they don't look too bad, not that many around. So this appeared on my list first of all......

Ok cool, this is building a nice picture in my head. I need a Unimog/Rangey/BigFoot Is there such a thing Notes taken on the X5, which to be honest ticks some boxes that others doesn't. I like the look of the interior and it's a few steps up from the interior of the 350 to be honest. Sit back relax, kick off the riding boots lol. I'll get hunting and test driving then. But your budget sounds higher than mine possibly - but you've just spent (or going to spend) £12 K on a minor zed upgrade True, but I'd rather spend the weekends in the Zed and the week day in the cruiser that eats dead animals for breakfast.

Never been a fan of Volvo's, but it's worth a search on Autotrader to see what else there is. A 2.4 lump would be perfect, not too juicy and not too under powered. Heck that mileage is a bit high though..... Good shout, will look further.

Rocks and Branches, small dear would be the issue here. I'd be driving cautiously with this due to being white and rocking a bodykit. I'm currently driving like miss daisy with the fear of scraping something, or damaging my bodykit. The future vehicle needs to be a little bit like a tank, drive it and don't care what you've driven over. Sounds pricey? yep - not cheap because we're considering new/nearly new - but it would be the main family car Well that was helpful then wasn't it......

    I need a 4x4!!

The RAC man who pulled my Zed out of the river said don't bother with the X-trail, riddled with engine issues. Sounds pricey? Hmmmmm I'll have a browse see what it looks like. Wow, those numbers don't match what Parkers/Autotrader believe the MPG should be, but then again it's all about how it's driven. To be fair though, my petrol is paid for by work, so I've not got a great hangup on things like MPG. I like the idea of schmoozing along in the X5 with a bit of luxury, sat back driving over dead animals.

    I need a 4x4!!

Thing is though, as I found out the hard way, rivers breaching their banks and branches strewn across the road, dead badgers, small dear and the like a car is okay, but I want to be able to drive over these things without a worry. The Freelander is of course out the question despite their cheapness.

    I need a 4x4!!

I drive 500 miles a week so need something a little fancy. Not a fan of Suzuki but just don't want something totally underpowered. I had a Mk1 focus for 9 years, brilliant cars, but really need something with height. Roads turn into rivers near me. I'd love a Bowler but my budget doesn't stretch that far.
  13. A zed should be used in the country during the summer months to enjoy the winding roads, the dry tarmac and gentle heat supplied by our generally mild summers. Although, during winter a Zed is not a happy place, puddles, streams and rivers across roads, branches, grit, stones, mud, dead animals strewn across the country roads. It makes my life hell in the Zed and so I need a vehicle to allow me to get to work without wrecking my Zed. For me, something that has some height, for puddles, streams, rivers and branches. Something a bit hardcore to cope with stones and rocks mud and dead animals. Power, need something with a bit of guts as I just can't see myself tootling along in something that does 0-60 in 5 days. I've shortened my list down to a BMW X5, say around the 13/14 year old mark. Mileage isn't a huge issue, say anything around the 100k plus mark. Don't mind diesel or petrol, I just want it to move, be pleasant to drive on the motorway and cope with my journeys during the winter, snowy, windy, river infested trips to work. My question is, what are these things like, am I likely to be buying a complete spanner and end up with more woes than just branches, rivers, rocks, mud and dead animals. I'm not too fussed on the cost of fuel or road tax, but if something like a diff goes, or brakes need replacing am I likely to be spending more on the Beemer than I would my Zed..... Any experience of X5's highly welcomed, also any other ideas that might suit my needs. Budget is around £3-4k.
  14. Maybe so, but I'm far from a stereo man, give me some cast aluminium any day...... Looks like you're getting some answers along the way, and agree, plug in what you can, see what doesn't work then go to the next wire and see what happens. If it all works, leave the wires that you don't need behind the headunit. Job done... see, wasn't that hard was it
  15. Take a day trip down to the Zed Shed and get Bob onto it, he's a legend with stereo stuff.
  16. Okay batch 3 of the spacers has arrived and ready to ship. Colours and volume in stock are as follows: 3 Blue 4 Red 3 Orange 4 Polished So if anyone was looking for a spacer just drop me a line. Any custom colours can be undertaken as I have blank spacers for such requests. (Green is still in production - will update you Craig once I receive news)
  17. All their engines get photographed under that rear bumper. No MPG with this engine, the correct unit for this engine is YPG (yards per gallon) and the average is 176 YPG. I think it's something like 14 urban and 23'ish extra urban...... but as the noise and the power will overrule my quest for economy, it will be like Adrian says, per the yard!! Thanks mate I'm nervous as feck! I'm not a mechanic, neither have I ever delved into the deep this far.... but hey you only live once. It will be an interesting journey that's for sure. I'm sure Bizz will be the source of all my information to be honest.
  18. Beat me to it ref Adenau - there's not a huge amount of things to do there, but a simple handful of bars and places to eat.
  19. Unless Stanstead Airport has a shipping port I'd say air Thanks for the kind offer matey, I'll be sorting a lot of the info and guides from Bizz, which we've been in comm's since he started his own project. So depending on his recommendations I'll take whatever is the best option, whether for fabrication and parts etc. but will def give you a nod if needed This kinda feels like a house re-development, where you enter the unknown and unsure of the final outcome or cost. I've budgeted £12k all in, which will cover everything from Engine, ECU, Fabrication and additional parts. This means she will finally come off the road and stop being used as my daily commuter which at the moment I'm doing 500 miles a week in her. The engine has 18k miles on the clock so she's nicely run in. Just need to sort out some trick cams and build everything around her. So errrr watch this space......
  20. 3 months? Its possible..... How hard is it to swap an engine you seem to have a SC done in a day, so maybe two for an engine? Tony, it maybe cool but it will open many cans full of worms. I feel the same way. What do you think....... YES Just need to sort the logistics, you're closest to Stanstead aren't you Adrian. Mind collecting it for me? Got a stupendous shipping quote $580!! When he said Chelmsford, I said Chelmsford UK and not America - so that's Stanstead Airport me and a van, and hopefully a fork lift truck.
  21. The time has come...... : yahoo: Whether its in time for Wales or not is another question, but fingers bloody crossed.
  22. stop looking at the car itself - it's nothing special I agree. I think they should have made more of an effort with the VQ to be honest.
