I always run a stock disc on track, it's the pads that do most of the work, if you were getting fade it will be your pads, so if your going ferod hopefully ds2500 oor similar. Tyres I'd just go for an uhp tyre PS4s, eagle F1 etc, more than capable and great in wet or just going to the shops. When Misha ragged my z at nurburgring hitting 160mph was just using stock discs but had ebc rp1 pads and on eagle F1 supersports without issue

Yeah fair enough probably will just start with pads then and see how that goes.

Think I’ll definitely get the ds2500 pads. Would you bother swapping the pads out for another set for Road use or is that over the top? I occasionally daily the car but am lucky enough to have a van for the daily most of the time.
Do you run braided lines too or are there any other brake mods you’d recommend?

Just seen your video btw 👌🏼

Ditto re the 255 rears, ideally all you'd want is a square setup ie x4 rear wheels all round. Personally I'd go for the new AD09, they'll be more than enough grip for a 350z plus last circa 35% longer.

Just been looking at the AD09s on a few review pages and they seem like the best option for me for what I need it for plus they’re slightly cheaper too.

I have researched about square setups a bit and seem to get mixed opinions on it but seems like it helps with any understeer.
might be a silly question but does it affect the appearance much? Not sure if the fronts will stick out much or is it not noticeable? (Not that I’m really bothered just curious) bear in mind it’s still got stock suspension but I will be looking at changing for coilovers and adjustable arms in the winter anyway.

Would you still slightly stagger the tyres on a square setup?
Looks like you have to go for at least 245 on the front for an 18inch on demon tweets to unless I’m mistaken.

  3. Took the Z to its first track evening at brands on Wednesday. Absolutely loved it, was the first time I’ve really been able to push the car hard since I  brought it a few months ago. Car is still completely stock so learned a few areas I definitely need to improve the car for future track days along with improving my driving too.

I was happy with how the car managed apart from some brake fade which I already expected beforehand with the stock brakes. I did change the fluid to 660 motul before which im sure helped.

however I definitely need to change out the standard discs so I am thinking of going to the DBA discs with ferodo pads.

as for tyres which definitely need changing anyway as there already on the limit legally anyways - I have been recommended Yokohama A052s with a 235/40 - 265/40 on the standard rays 18 which I’ve already got. Car currently has 225/45s front and 245/45s rear which I have no idea how this would compare.

Does anyone have any feedback with this setup or opinions/other options to look into?

I know this is quite an expensive setup so not sure if I should choose something better value. I was thinking of buying another set of rims to so I can change out for track day sets and just Road use sets.

  4. I have not yet but It seems I need to start with this. What did you use to clean it with? I’m assuming there must be throttle body cleaners like carb cleaners for example.

  5. I have noticed that my 06 350z is idling a bit high at around 950-1k when warm if I am stopped waiting at lights ect. I have just left it for a bit but then the other day I switched the car off and back on a again once it was warm while I was waiting at the lights and the idle goes back down to 650-750rpm and stays like that for the rest of the drive which I would consider a more normal idle speed. There is no engine light on at the moment and I have tried the pedal dance before. I think it helped in that past a bit but still doing it now.

    any advice?

I do have a code reader but have lost the charger so I’ll try to find that to see if anything comes up on it but like I say there is no current engine light showing.

Hi and welcome! My 04 DE hangs a little on upshifts and I did a little research a couple weeks ago. As far as I found it's generally common/normal, people suggest it's the nature of e-throttle, or to help with smoother changes or even emissions. General consensus is a lighter flywheel will solve it

As far as the high idle goes, try this 350z Reset proceedure (Pedal Dance) – Horsham Developments (h-dev.co.uk)

Thanks, I’ll take a look and see if it solves the idle problem.

I might have a go at cleaning the throttle body to see if that helps too.

  7. Hi all,

just picked up my first z car and thought I’d jump on the forum to say hi and find out more. The car is a 2006 rev up which at the moment is stock but have some plans of what I’d like to do with it. The z won’t be my daily as I’ve got another car but I am going to be using it for work for a bit to get used to the car and learn more about it.

So I wanted to start by asking for some tips on getting used to driving the 350. The main thing I’m slightly struggling with is the rev hang and driving around that. It holds rpm for at least 2-3 on upshifts and this is the first car I’ve owned that has an electronic throttle body so I guess I’m just not used to it. Today is my second day of driving it so I’m slowing getting there but still would appreciate any advice on just driving the 350 in general.

Are there any modifications people do to help with this too? I’ve seen lots of talk about lighter flywheels and so on and even seen POVs of other 350s who don’t seem to get the rev hang at all. So not sure if that’s down to modifications or if it’s me not being able to adapt to the car yet. I’m also noticed that it idles a little high at about 1100-1200 rpm once warmed up if you’re waiting at lights ect. Could this be connected in any way?

Anyway, look forward to speaking to other members and learning more about these cars
