  1. Looks more like Readers Wives to me
  2. That sounds like a "snap" moment
  3. After a week and just under 600 miles since I have had Falken 452's fitted I thought I would give a little update. My previous tyres were RE040's then RE050's Pulling away seems good with decent traction, my normal route to the office is a fast B road with plenty of opportunity to brake and accelerate. I have not really felt any loss of grip in cornering either entering or exiting. Heavy breaking is direct with no wobble or draw in either direction. Driving in the wet earlier in the week did not seem any worse or better than the RE050's, water dispersion also felt good when driving through larger puddles whether this will degrade as the tread wears down will remain to be seen. Road noise is however different, on a road which is nice smooth tarmac the noise is less, but on a road surface which has chippings used (such as a stretch of the A34 between Newbury and East Isley.. if anyone knows it) the noise I think is increased. Motorway driving is good and the car feels stable at cruising speed, but when accelerating to overtaking speed the front does seem a little light and twitchy.... any one else had this? It was a little windy that day but never noticed this before. For under £500 for a full set of Falkens compared to just over £650 for RE050's, my usage seems to be 2x Rears (pair) to 1x Front (pair)... so yes a saving, but maybe with a compromise on top end speed. I will post a further update after a few months of use.
  4. I have not had any problems with west way in B'stoke, The service dept seem to be polite, car is done on time and technically they seem to know there way round the car, plus you get the stamp If they offer a valet....and if your car cleaning standards are the same as mine.... don't bother Just a general comment on any main dealer servicing, do any little things yourself a few days before.....such as Wipers, washer fluid etc.... then if you firstly point it out to them when you drop the car off then see it on the bill just complain and get it taken off again. My mate used to leave the empty packets/nearly empty items of whatever he had done in the passenger foot well as an extra hint. I always state then if any "extra" work needs to be done then phone me BEFORE proceeding. Just my two pence
  5. What phone do you have?? The reason I ask is I had a Nokia which was really really rubbish in the car, could not hear caller and they always assumed I was talking to them whilst on the pot Then my boss kindly got me an iPhone.... wow what a difference, on full volume I can hear every word clearly and callers have commented on the clarity of the call....... they mainly say "stop flooring it all, I can hear is your zorst" Might be worth trying a different phone just to see?
  6. I got them from Micheldever Tyres just north of Winchester
  7. Falken 452s or Vredesteins If you budget is £500 ish the Falkens I am getting are £472 including filling with Nitrogen and balancing/alignment compared to £712 for the RE050's.
  8. Are you coming camping in your thong as well then ?
  9. I have to say cost does play a part in my choice, I am hoping the Falkens will get me though the winter as the 050's were the worst I have ever driven in icy/snow weather... and they were very nearly new Keep you posted
  10. Is the SMG gearbox any good? I assume it can be used in auto or with paddles? -They are not bad to use, the one I drove was a little clunky I thought The clutch has been replaced at 25,000 miles. Is this a sign of problems to come? - Probably been thrashed Car would have cost +£90k new! Given that the new M cars are going to be turbo charged I expect this high revving NA beast will retain it's value pretty well. Do you agree? - No, you will most likely get bugger all for it in a few years Are there hidden costs that will emerge when running such a high powered car (excluding the obvious petrol/insurance)? - Have you seen BMW servicing costs? and parts? Don't like them myself IMO.... look too much like a parrot
  11. There are a few guides on here I think, some have used cable ties and some have used screws. Have a search
  12. Off to have some shiny new Falken 452's fitted tomorrow, after having RE40's (rubbish) and RE50's (better than the RE40's) I will let you all know what I think
  13. Yep, just put "off road bikes" in to youtube and it was about half way down the page And yes I have my gimp mask, cat tail whip and thong (spangely one) already packed
  14. And there was me thinking it might be kinda cool to get a trails bike to mess about on......... maybe I will just stick to the Zed
  15. The strangest most randomly weird thing ever........ .......But it made me
  16. Here is mine....... one does stick out a little more than the other. Its not really that noticeable unless you point it out......... ............Awwww Bugger just realised I have just pointed it out to everyone
  17. +1 on the MX5 I have had a mk1 Eunos, which was a right laugh and parts are very cheap. Also had a mk3 before the Zed and is also excellent ... has a few more creature comforts.
  18. And there was me thinking we would be sat round the camp fire on teeny weeny chairs Besides......Campsites = .......
