I'm another one that thinks that leaving it until 2023 isn't a very good idea. Two years is a long time in the motoring world, and the internal combustion engine is already frowned upon enough now.

Hello and welcome back. Your car looks great(identical to mine too!) Enjoy it.

I curse everytime I put my kids in my 3dr Mini Cooper S to be fair. I tell myself that it is worth it though...because it has frameless windows and only two doors!

Hello and welcome. That is very nice for sure. Exciting times ahead. -
I've always been a really big fan of the 4.2 V8 RS4 as well. I do have a real soft spot for a V8 engine with a manual gearbox.

That is bad if you thought that a M135i was better than a M4 for sure! The M135i has one of the worst suspension set ups of any BMW from what I've read! To be fair though the drive in the M4 I had was in ideal conditions, and I've read that it can be spiky in certain conditions. I felt very similar with the Z4M I had to what you describe though. It wasn't especially powerful or very torquey, but the suspension was so poor that you never knew where you stood with it. It nearly threw me off the road a couple of times and I just didn't get on with it(my E92 M3 was a dream for its ride/chassis/suspension compared to the Z4M for me). My Cerbera was predictable in comparison to the Z4M and that is saying something. I thought that both my Z4M and E92 M3 lacked a bit of torque unless you were thrashing them, so the lower down turbo torquey nature of the M4 does personally really appeal to me(especially as a daily driver). Plus the M4 can be tuned easily if I did fancy more shove. I can't deny that the M4 really appeals to me for sure.

I had a TVR Cerbera 4.5 for 6 years...so I find BMW's to be nice and tame in comparison! BMW's have loads of electronics to keep you nice and safe I reckon. My right foot was the only thing that I could rely on in the TVR!

I had a test drive in a M4 Convertible and I really enjoyed it. A M4 Coupe or Convertible is certainly a car that I'd love to have one day for sure.
-
I always remember really wanting one of those to replace my S14a 200SX. I'm also a big fan of the R34 GT-R, but they've always been pretty expensive both when new and on the used market I reckon.

I'd be tempted to stretch the budget a little bit and go for the M4(just checked and the M4 is in the budget now!). Fast/torquey and not too bad on fuel when you consider the performance. Space for kids in the back as well. I ran a E92 M3 for 10k miles as a daily, and the fuel/range and the fact that it only really came into its own performance wise at the top of the revs...really frustrated me. An awesome engine when on song though for sure. I'd certainly prefer the M4 as a daily though.

Hello and welcome. Wishing you all the best with your search. They are great cars for sure.

I absolutely love these and yours looks great! I had one for 4 years(from 2002 to 2006) and I've genuinely not had another car that has been as much fun since! Sideways is a way of life in these. Enjoy it. A couple of pics of my old one. Mine had a full mongoose exhaust/decatted/adjustable actuator(boost up from 10psi to 16psi)/K&N/forge dump valve/running about 250bhp).

Just picked up a Solar Orange :)

Hello and welcome. Your car looks very nice. Enjoy it. -
I went to Mablethorpe before lockdown and we saw a standard 350 Roadster drive past us, and my daughter said to me why can't I hear it like yours Dad?! I said to her that most performance cars are really quiet on their standard exhausts sadly.
-
I've just had a M4 Convertible go pass me while I've been walking, and it did sound very try hard regards the pops/bangs I agree. I also think that the 350(as standard) does sound better than the 370(as standard) for some reason. I do love the noise that my 370 makes with the HFC's and the aftermarket stainless exhaust that I have on it though for sure.
-
I understand why BMW use a sound actuator with the 2.0 L 4 cylinder(B48) because it would sound poor I reckon if they piped in real noise. Whereas I'd prefer piped in real noise from the 3.0L 6 cylinder(B58) because at least that is a nice engine to start with I reckon. I've never understood why BMW also use a sound actuator in the M4 as well. That engine should sound alright without it too I reckon.
-
I do love Capri's and that looks great.
-
I have a manual gearbox mated to the same engine(detuned) as the Supra in my F56 Cooper S. It is an inferior soundtrack I agree, although both the 4 cylinder(B48) and 6 cylinder(B58) engines have piped in noise through the speakers...so I guess that it isn't that much different anyway from inside! Outside the B58 engine does sound sweet for sure.
-
Wow! what a car! Congratulations. Enjoy it.
-
Although it is probably out of my budget new, I do hope that the Supra does eventually get offered with a manual gearbox. In years to come it is a car that does really appeal to me. I liked the looks/shape of it when I looked around one a while back, although it does seem a very marmite car for many though looks wise for sure.

A great thread and I'm thoroughly enjoying reading/seeing the changes/upgrades you are doing to it.

I just love the Zeds history and legacy. I've always liked the 240Z and I really wanted a 90's 300ZX twin turbo too. Then when I drove a new 350Z back in 2006...I knew that I would love to have a Z of some description one day. Hence why I'd love to see the Z car legacy continue with the 400Z. It will be an added bonus for me personally if it is twin turbo as well because it will also have an easy tuning potential. My 370Z isn't fast and it isn't expensive either, but that doesn't stop me loving it to bits, and really enjoying the way that it drives also.

I know that it doesn't help entirely but my mate is 6'5", and he fitted in ok in the passenger seat in my Roadster roof up(we got caught in a rain shower so I put the roof up). I'm the opposite because I'm only 5'8"...so I struggle to even reach the steering wheel/pedals!
