I've got a little pool of money together and will be sourcing Z1 subframe bush collars, Z1 motor mounts and diff bushings. Will probably get all the work done when I bring the car out next year. Wish me luck! Open to any advice

It's a top product but in these temps it'll take a while longer to cure. I was told its best to do one round, leave for 24 hours and do a second round. Definitely worth the money.

This is so true! Hands down my favourite Z on the forum and then you take it to a new level with the detail in your build thread. I've got so much respect considering how handy you are with your own car and how unique you've made it.

Carbon Fibre goodies?

I am always concerned when someone offers something for free, very very concerned. Feel sorry for the poor lady tbh, the office probably left her more confused than when we started. Got even funnier when we had to convince her that the breakdown cover from your bank account is probably worthwhile (if you get the whole insurance malarkey included in the monthly fee).
-
So in the office today one of the ladies was cheesed off about having to pay approx £100 extra on her insurance policy for windscreen, breakdown, motor legal etc. Conversation rolls on and someone chirps on about free motor legal cover. Showed us the site and said he'd signed up and was fully behind the idea. Just wanted to throw it out there and get people's opinions and see if anyone else on the forum has gone down this route? https://www.freemotorlegal.co.uk/how-it-works/

Firstly, glad to hear you're not hurt! Secondly, I will shed a tear because losing a fellow Z car is not nice. Rest up buddy! As we've all said, glad it wasn't a serious accident.

Welcome!

Guess a remap looks the way forward, bit of time of the dyno will unlock a few nuggets of info about the engine etc. If its been professionally fitted then exhaust most likely isn't the issue.
-
Who fitted the exhaust? Been checked for leaks and build/assembly quality?

Surely soon enough most car manufacturers will be coerced into producing only hybrid and/or electric cars. Agreed though, electric cars just aren't cheap enough, productive enough or practical enough for the common person to purchase. Nobody (with a sane mind and some fiscal responsibility) would throw £20k+ at a car which can't do long distances, needs to be near a plug socket etc. The whole hoo haa about no diesels in the City Centres is gonna be interesting; Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow aren't London. Only London is really running an organised public transport infrastructure so only they can push people off the road and into buses. I'm pretty sure the big issue atm is bus routes being cut around the country and train lines being at capacity. Either way, doubt the cities citizens will let the government shove electric motors down their throats - when the people have a choice, think Brexit and when people don't have a choice, think Extinction Rebellion. But mehh let's see how it goes.

Nice to see you guys on board @Classic Line Insurance - sure we'll all be supporting the business soon enough. I'll be sure to grab a quote to see if I can save any pennies (or hopefully pounds) on my current policy.

Welcome welcome OP!

Looks like a decent Zed for the price, no surprise at how quick it went.

If you replacing your 350z, what would you get next?

Perfect scenario is going to be having both the Golf R and the 370Z muhahaha. TTRS might be one for if I decide to ditch the daily beater and run one car all year round; the boot space in them is ridiculous as well as the overall build quality. -

@reeceybeaney nah, I've driven the MK7.5 Golf R and it's perfect, it really does hit the spot. I never wanted to touch an automatic but that DSG has won me over, the virtual cockpit and the overall feel of it. -

@reeceybeaney I hear you loud and clear, it is one reservation I have - the TT, the TT S and the TT RS, do I really expect them to be worlds apart? Probably not. You're right, the car is built for a different ilk of driver, and a 370Z fan isn't going to slot straight in. I guess I'm looking for something that I can daily, use a little more all year round and something that doesn't mean feel so retro at times. The VAG group have made my head turn so much that biting the bullet is closer now than ever before. Then again, I wanna see someone do it and report back 6 months in. That'd be my catalyst to get one. -

Would love to hear your opinion on the TTRS after you've had it for a few months, see if you enjoy/recommend swapping it around. Plenty power for the road, never gonna reach the top end without being reckless, 4WD means no issues in the winter so it's a win win in my eyes. -
Definitely got to consider this - sounds plausible If you've had it checked and its sat flush/no vibrations etc. then go get it aligned at a specialist?

I can see where you're coming from, hope the OP reads your post and gives it some serious weight. If the budget stretches I could imagine a Cayman or 911 being so much fun. -

For 10 to 20k, I'd only look at a 370Z. Pick up a decent 370z for 15k these days and another 5k on mods would be nice. The new Audi TTRS is meant to be an absolute beast and has some serious road presence, granted I'd only go for the new shape which probably takes it outside the 20k budget. -
@Adrian@TORQEN might have a few photos?

Urban planning has never had to think about the issue with charging cars. Heck, most houses built before the 90s didn't even consider that there would be more than 1 car per household. Feel like charging points are going to be the new OpenReach/Fibre Optic. Nobody wants to dig up the roads, nobody wants to foot the bill and nobody is gonna get it right the first time around. It's either got to be rapid charging or being able to swap batteries in a car. No current practical solution that could scale comes to mind.

This would work but holistically speaking, the energy needs to come from a "green" source and if coming from the grid will need to be "smoothed" out. After learning about how the National Grid needs to manage energy, like when people get up for a cup of tea during adverts of popular TV shows or sports events, it makes me think this whole problem needs describing from start to finish before we make any quick wins. Some quick wins might end up hurting us more in the long run. Either way, I agree with the idea and I hope something sustainable comes up soon. At some point I'm gonna have to go electric and I don't want these issues to deal with.
