  1. I'm beginning to think it's a cartography issue of 2D images of the world. Try it with a globe and some string and measure it that way. Also what is the non stop range of a jet like that? That's a lllloootttt of water with no refuelling. I'm not saying it's the answer, just thinking outside the box.
  2. Well its definitely there as we have since been...,haven't we?
  3. Yeah that's what I was thinking.
  4. Well, we're coming to the other side of winter, and I decided to replace my battery as it gave up the ghost over winter. A 5 yr yuasa battery from work, and after not running for 3 months, she fired up without hesitation. Now to plan this years mods. I'm going to wrap my steering wheel inserts as they are a little worse for wear now. I'll eventually get around to fitting my new slave cylinder too. I'm going to attempt wrapping my headlights a light smoke purple colour. I was going to go for black, but i think it would be over kill. Then Zippypoos sent me a pic of a black one with yellow lights that looked ace. But I've done black and yellow a lot and fancy something different, so purple it is. I may do my door handles anthracite to match my wheels. Once funds allow I think i'll also get a resonated catback cobra system. Toying with sidesteps, and I still haven't fitted the Nismo spats I got last year.
  5. I like the logic, makes sense to me.
  6. Yeah see I didn't realise it was a straight line and was quite impressed that it was. It's only the Cathay Pacific flight plan, I think BA fly over India. I did Google whether gravity can bend light and it can but couldn't find conclusively that earth gravity was enough to make a laser beam run parallel to the ground on a perfect flat. Personally I believe there are to many people that have access to incredible heights such as pilots to keep them all quiet that the earth is flat. On a slight reversal, wasn't it on QI that it's an urban myth that we ever thought it was flat to begin with?
  7. Pretty sure he doesn't Dan. The laser thing is intriguing as in theory placed on a perfect flat it should point out into space. I guess the only way to be sure would be to place the receiver in space and have the laser on the true north. I think the minuscule size of the planet compared to laser pointer size will justify the frozen lake experiment but flushes my horizon equation out the water as in theory a laser at 6ft high and a receiver over 3 miles away wouldn't pick it up. Interesting. It's still round though.
  8. I'm fairly certain you see the tallest part of the ship first, ie the mast/antennae before you can see where the hull meets the water. Plus the higher you get the more distance is added to your horizon. At sea level/ on a perfect flat the horizon is always roughly 3 miles away, add height you add distance. For an observer on the ground with eye level at h = 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m), the horizon is at a distance of 2.9 miles(4.7 km). For an observer standing on a hill or tower 100 feet (30 m) in height, the horizon is at a distance of 12.2 miles (19.6 km). The formula in km is the square route of eye night x 1.5. This wouldn't be the case on a flat earth, your horizon would be determined by land mass in the distance.

    350z Oil

I think it's a waste to be honest, unless it's cheaper. Most jap stuff and non eco boosted fords all run in the same oil. I agree it probably won't do any harm, but neither will there be any benefit. VAG oil costs my garage 846 quid plus vat for 205 litres (Mobil 1). By comparison the Ford and Jap stuff is just under 400 quid for the same amount. 5w-20 eco boost stuff is pricey, as is the 0-20 for the high revving Honda's. Also, a little tongue in cheek bit, the rev ups burn the oil faster than the service intervals anyway if you believe the hype... not that mine does.
  10. Yeah, I know mate, but its nice to have a debate in friendly way
  11. Or the dude that jumped out of the balloon.
  12. Ok...so I now believe the earth is flat (hypothetically of course), Is the moon flat also, just at a 90 degree angle so we always look upon it from above? Can the same be said about the other observable planets? Also, when you're at cruising altitude above the ocean, is the curvature of the earth not visible?
  13. This is the flight plan to HK when I visit my dad. I assumed it was so we cut out war torn middle east. But its actually because its more fuel efficient to go north. Something to do with the efficiency of the engines at the colder climates and it being mathematically shorter distance due to spherical planet.
  14. There was a thread about this about a month ago as it seemed too good to be true. But Horesham did the tuning work, and authenticated the work on the other thread.

    350z Oil

VAG group oil tends be for long life use application, its why there service intervals are set every 18k miles or 2yrs.
  16. When folk 'flat earth', do they mean like an upside down dinner plate? Or like a Discworld novel? Because my evidence for it being spherical is: The Square route of eye height x 1.5, is the distance to the horizon, which work using Pythagoras and the assumption the earth is spherical. And its easily proved using a friend also with a smart phone with gps
  17. @Jake.Lowther rebuild going well then mate if ya bought tickets?
  18. No brainer then, if it was done by a reputable place and is mechanically sound, its cheaper to get that one.
  19. Hmm good point. The only reason I was able to be beat the tt supra was because of my cars fat ass giving good grip.
  20. I don't think a straight line would be equal. There is bound to be complex maths involved, but I believe less weight will aid in the increase and decrease of speed. With handing the weight needs to be in the right place. My mk1 golf was very tail happy without 2 bags of grit in the back. I guess the compromise would be light weight with effective aero.
  21. I'd always go less weight too. Sometimes the weight loss is cheaper to achieve too.
  22. I'm with you on the civic. And if you were to buy one and charge it yourself, how much would that set you back?
  23. If only there was someone out there selling one.
  24. Did you every see the JDM version out at the same time as the FN2? It was more like a 5 door coupe/saloon than 5 door hatch. I liked them, but possibly because it left space for a boot spoiler
