Anyone know the thread size of the factory oil temp sensor? ?

Cheers mate, I managed to find a thread on an American forum saying that the oil pressure sender hole thread was 1/8 bspt so i was going to assume that the temp hole would be the same thread and my temp sender is 1/8 npt, so iv bought a male 1/8 bspt to female 1/8 npt adapter. Guess I'll find out when I'm under the car attempting to fit the sender -
I'm after fitting my 1/8 NPT threaded temp sensor in the factory oil temp sensor location near the pressure sensor. I have a DE so my car doesn't have the factory temp sensor but still has the hole ready for one. I'm wondering if anyone knows the thread size so I can get an adaptor from female 1/8 NPT to male factory thread size, I'm struggling to find any answers on the world wide web. Cheers

A remap with all the Bolt on mods, exhaust, intake, decats will only bring a 25 to 30 bhp power increase at most so not much really, but a remap does take off a slight power restriction in 1st 2nd and 3rd, so apparently makes the car feel alot better to drive. I went for DE myself for the reasons it was cheaper to buy so more money to mod, there's not as many expensive common faults, and the speed/power difference between the DE and rev up/HR version will only really be noticeable in a drag race and the difference would be minimal, maybe a car length or 2 by the time your both at 100mph. If you wanted the better lights and interior from thenfacelift in your DE they could always be bought and swapped over really easily and alotnof people do swap out the headlights and taillights

A few quick basics for you... DE, 276bhp UR, 298bhp HR, 313bhp De engines in models up to 05 I think then UR (revised DE Engine with a slightly higher red line, extra 500 rpm I think) till 06/07, they come with the facelift interior (a bit more leather and moved a few buttons and got an extra cup holder) also got led rear lights and hid headlights Then HR 80% new engine with twin air intakes and a bulge in the bonnet, come with the same facelift interior and lights. UK spec cars are GT or non GT, gt spec has all the optional extras like brembos, bose, heated leather seats, slip diff etc Jap inports have a variation of all the optional extras. When it comes to which model to buy it depends on your budget... the HR is slightly faster and has a slightly nicer interior to the DE I don't own a HR but this is what I have heard of the model... The HR suffers from oil gallery gasket failure at any random time, and costs around 1500 to 2000 to be repaired at a garage with better longer lasting gaskets. Also they have been known to have clutch slave cylinder failure and unfortunately the slave cylinder is mounted inside the gearbox so cost abit in labour to swap out. That's my quick bit of info anyway, I'm sure many others will be on shortly to correct me and advice you more, but the MAIN thing to remember is that no matter what model you get... they are all amazing cars that will put a smile on your face everytime you drive it

The thing is, any mod you do to your car you will have to tell your insurance about, so each mod may or may not increase the insurance, best thing to do is ring your insurance ask them how much it will increase if you put an exhaust on for example, or fancy alloys or coilovers.

Iv had a lot of interest on the FB page also so it's looking like there will be around 10 people again. I'm going to book us in for Sunday 11th march, weel meet at Mitton hall again in whalley at 10am to set off at 10.30. The route is about an hour and 20mins to the cafe, and then back. Iv heard a lot about this cat driver training and it sounds really good and worth every penny. Another reccomendation would be the prodrift acadamy, one in birmingham and one in ireland, again looks and sounds really good and at a very good price. Google them and see what you think

Alright guys.. seeing all these meets being organised up and down the country got me thinking if i should organise another countryside drive out in March for us northeners ... I'm thinking 10th/11 march What do you rekon?? We'll go on some different roads to last time, and maybe just stop at a little cafe instead of a country pub. Anyone interested....

I'm after installing an oil temp gauge when I get my sump spacer this week somtime, iv never had or used aftermarket gauges before so was wondering if anyone could reccomend any?? Other than defi as their £250 each. Iv been finding alot of places selling prosport gauges for around 60 to 70 quid and was hoping some of you guys may have used them before? also where to buy them from, a quick search comes up with littledevilgauges.co.uk and rspec.co.uk And whilst I'm here I'm thinking of installing oil temp sensor into my sump pan spacer... it there a better place to install it?? I.e next to oil filter?? Or a certain side of the sump spacer?? Any wise or words or reccomendations would be appreciated as always. Cheers Rob

I can vouch for ep3 type r, brilliant cars out the box for good fun driving and relatively cheap to run. Get some VTEC in yo life -
My total journey will be about 2500miles clitheroe (where I live) and back to clitheroe. It's 600ish mile to the ring from north west England where I'm staying for 3 days, it will be my 3rd time there then about 6 hours from the ring to grindelwald near interlaken in Switzerland where im staying for 4 days, then 8 hours drive to south france (via monaco for 3 hours) to Argeles where I'm staying with my parents for 4 days, then 7 hours to la Rochelle where I'm staying with a freind for 3 days. Then 7 hours back to Calais for 1 night in an f1 hotel then back home. That's my schedule anyway, ring and Switzerland for amazing driving and south france for sunny beaches haha. Theres quite abit of driving between stops but I'm thinking if i set off at 8 or 9am ish I can be at the next stop by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. iv booked hotels at the ring and Switzerland already. Like I say you can come along with us no problem at all, Although I don't think youl fit in the boot of my zed lol so will have to drive yourself, I'm hoping you'd be bringing your turboed beast? You could always just come to the ring with us and Switzerland for the mountain passes if you were up for it? It depends on your budget and things really. If you do decide to Join us for any of the trip I'll let you know exactly where I'm staying and prices of things etc (food, hotels, eurotunnel) to give you a better idea what it might cost you.

I'm planning on going over the great st Bernard pass into Italy down past turin to the coast then along the coast via monaco, I'm guna stay in Monaco for a few hours then going down to Argeles south of France for 4 days, proper looking forward to this trip, get plenty of photos for you guys haha

Me and my girlfriend, I've asked my mates that are into to cars but none of them fancy it, supose I'm lucky to have a girl who's like cars and doesn't mind going on holiday to a race track lol Your more than welcome to come along with us though, it would be nice to have some male company aswell haha. Ill be getting a 6am euro tunnel train on Wednesday morning and driving straight there, so I'll be at the ring at about 12 midday on the Wednesday and leaving Saturday morning about 10 am to go to Switzerland.

I was going to go 14th 15th 16th but the tourist days are not on that weekend because of the classic gp and nearly all the hotels nearby are booked up and are a lot more expensive over that weekend. I decided to go to the ring a week earlier then I'm going into Switzerland and staying near interlaken for 4 days to go on the mountain passes. Then going down via Monaco along the Riviera to the south of France for 4 days, then back up via bordoux for 3 nights then to calais and home Have you booked a hotel at the ring already?? And had a look at on the ring website at their schedule??

I like where you placed the gauge thats perfect fitment. I found the blank. Its just behind the oil filter, but... (again only what I have read) that if you put the oil temp there next to the oil filter then your reading the temp of the oil coming out the engine, I thought you would want to read the oil temp in the sump before it goes into the engine?? -

Can anyone reccomend an oil temp sensor?? Can I just buy a standard temp sensor and then drill and tap into the oil pan?? Or fit in spacer with pre drilled hole. So far iv only found the defi gauge one for £250 their must be a cheaper option?? I've not done a full day trackday as yet but ive done a good few random evening sessions, and been to the ring a few times and clocked up a good number of laps there and spa. I tend to go quite easy on my car compared to other people really, as in I'll do a few warm up laps then 4 or 5 really hard laps then abit of a cool down, then 5 really hard laps again then come off track for 30mins or so. I always take oil, my 70 piece socket set and zip ties... just in case lol This I year though I hope to do a track day every 6 weeks ish between March and Sept. I plan on getting this spacer/pan, then look into getting an oil cooler and maybe temp sensor.
