  1. Glad you added that bit at the end, was starting to think I was one of the assholes
  2. It's definitely more reassuring.... Can happily cruise through a 30 with the digi reading 32 or so. It's an acceptable tolerance that I could argue if I get caught. If I just look at the analogue, it might seem that I'm doing 32, but could actually be doing 37, and it's much harder to argue that difference. Though I think it's actually the other way round. It reads 30+ when I'm only doing 25, and I don't want to be going slower than I have to... Much nicer to watch the digi when I'm setting the cruise control too.
  3. Welcome Didn't read the title, just saw the welcome posts and assumed that's what this thread was for. Should probably go to bed
  4. Fair point, but that may be partially down to compression on YT. The raw source file will inevitably look better. Hard to see anything with those lights glaring though. Got any footage of more expensive cameras making out plates in the same situation? I just refresh the "View New Content" page and see if there's anything good. Not many active threads atm, so it'd be hard not to end up in the same places )
  5. I always drive on the assumption that people are oblivious and will pull out in front of me / cut me up etc. It's why my brakes hardly see any use - I've already planned ahead so I never get to the stage that I need to stomp on. Obviously it's not foolproof, but fortunately I have a pretty safe route where I'm either crawling along in traffic or I'm the only car about, usually at 30, with a couple of stints up to 50. However, with Sod's law, the day I actually get new tyres put on will be the day I have a crash. Appreciate the concern though
  6. and only £40 or so for the latest version. Just watch out you don't end up with a crappy fake off ebay (like me). Don't see much point spending a lot. You just need a clear image, which the G1W provides.
  7. Digital is at least consistent and doesn't differ by ±5 mph depending on how my seat is adjusted or whether I'm slouching.
  8. I can tell you it's on my to-do list, but with 2 assignments in for next week I've got other priorities at the moment. I'm not planning on driving anywhere over xmas, and I'll have plenty of time to get it sorted then. I've manged this long without crashing, and that was while messing about and with ESP off. Now I'm being super cautious and ESP is on, I should be okay, at least for another week until i get some more time. Don't worry, you can be the first to say "i told you so" when I end up in a ditch. I never rush into buying things, it's gonna take me a few days of research and consideration before I commit to anything anyway.
  9. Do you guys not live near any speed cameras or something? My speedo seems to read high (due to viewing angle presumably), so I need to know what speed I'm actually doing so I can go as fast as possible without speeding.
  10. I set it to MPH. Assumed everyone else did too? The analogue speedo is soooo inaccurate.
  11. Not yet, but the ESP light is my new best friend and keeps me company on those cold winter nights.
  12. Rims and reflectors. Doesn't fuel dissolve Plasti Dip in much the same way?
  13. Anyone used this stuff? It's half the price of Plasti Dip. so seems like a good alternative. Reviews seem to be mixed, but a lot of them are quite outdated. Main complaint seems to be the nozzle spray pattern (cone rather than fan shaped), but I'm not sure where / how to get a different one. A lot of people reporting it cracking and being impossible to peel, but there is also a fair share of people commending it. One concern is that it says not to leave it on for >6 months, at which point I'm guessing it becomes a bitch to try peel off. Cheers
  14. Google is your friend. Seems to do a better job than forum searches.
  15. There is somewhere. Was looking at it yesterday, lemme see if i can find it again... Here we go...
  16. Independent engineer from RMI test drove the car today at the request (and expense) of the dealer to give a verdict on whether there is a fault and what it might be. Should hopefully get the report through in a few days and we'll see if you guys were on the money with synchros. Didn't get to meet the chap, but apparently he owns an auto 350z. Wonder if it's someone on on here?
  17. Don't think it's a problem with the 370, could still occur though. That's not reason enough to put you off buying one though, it really isn't even a major problem on the 350.
  18. And a Chapati space saver wheel.
  19. Audi have one of, if not THE, worst scores for reliability. The Z4 can be alright, but it's still gonna cost you more than the Z34. I know it's surprising, but the results show that Porsche are actually very reliable. I spent a considerable time looking into them, but eventually settled on a Z33 as they are cheaper when things do go wrong (and look better ).
  20. Sorry, not it's not, it's punctuation, not grammar. Debatable. Technically you are correct, but these days "grammar" and "orthography" are synonymous and pretty much interchangeable. The meaning of words evolve over time and new meanings become generally accepted with sufficient use.
  21. As Dan says, a 370Z is pretty much your best bet. I'm gonna make an assumption your criteria is along the lines of: - < 7 years - <50k miles - <6 secs 0-60 - (Semi-)Auto - RWD - Sporty Coupe - Reliable and relatively cheap to maintain Personally, I'd instantly rule out anything German, unless you are buying new, so no VAG stuff, Mercs or Bimmers. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Focus RS, Peugoet 308 GTI, Renault Megane Renaultsport, Seat Leon Cupra, and Vauxhall Astra GTC are all FWD hatchbacks and probably only as reliable as the 370Z if not less so. If you don't mind compromising and getting a sedan, you could potentially pick up: Mitsubishi Evo X - Excellent performance, but AWD and repair bills will be even higher Lexus GS 450h - Bulletproof, but a bit boring. CVTs are no fun either Subaru WRX - Another AWD, but might be a bit better for reliability Jaguar XF V6 - Reliability is supposed to be pretty good on Jags these days, but a 370 is still gonna be more fun and probably cheaper to run The only other option, which admittedly is VAG, but probably beats the 370Z in every way is a Porsche Cayman / Boxster. They are supposed to be very reliable, but if something does go wrong, the bills can get scary big, and fast. So there you have it, the 370Z is the best mix of performance and reliability. Get one
  22. Oh dear, don't let ATTAK Z see this...
