  1. Anyone able to answer the question quoted? Thanks I have installed an after market Alpine amp tonight and wired up the stock Bose sub so I didnt have to replace that not sure about the unit in the link but I dont think it should be a problem.
  2. After I got rid of the 2x 10" subs that were taking up all my boot space it was time to remove the twin amps that 'weren't hooked up' from when I bought the car. There was some wiring hanging around in the boot so removed it all from the two amps yesterday and removed the amps from the car. Leaving the wiring for today. Upon heading to the post office earlier it became apparent that the amps had infact been connected to the speakers and the headunit as I now no longer had any sound. Oh well, cue Nismo FM I got back and after work set upon sorting the audio out. As it happens the headunit that had been installed had bypassed the factory system hence the previous owner decided to hook up aftermarket kit. After a little play I managed to re-install 1 of the amps (2 is overkill at my age) and wired it all up to the factory Bose Sub. Fairly simple job as all the wiring had been done for me I just had to re-route some of it and modify the tray in the passenger cubby hole as this is where I have installed the amp. I noticed that originally some of the speakers were not working and the sound was very very low and the sub was obviously not hooked up. This was due to the wires not being stripped enough so when they were connected to the amp the clamp was on the insulation and not the wire itself. Sorted that all out and run a new cable from the stock Sub to the Alpine amp and now it is all back in and working. Sound is now fantastic without being over the top. Didnt get any pics as it was dark by the time I tidied everything up and got her finished off. Will grab some tomorrow in the light. Just managed to get a pic on the daylight of where I have located the amp and fixed her down: I just need to buy a stock Bose sub cover that I can then place on instead of the cubby door to ensure enough airflow gets to the amp and she doesnt get too hot. For now though I will just prop the cubby door open when driving. Next job is to get a thin piece of wood and some black carpet and create a screen/divider of some kind that covers the boot at an angle so nobody can see what I have inside.
  3. This is a 'mod' that I get round to doing on all my cars. Where did you source the fob from and what was the cost?
  4. Resurrecting an old thread rather than starting a new one. The pic above is great and it looks as though the 2 pumps are the same. Is this true? Rear wiper has been removed on my car so dont need the rear pump. Can I just swap the connectors and the pipes over so this will now act as the front pump or are the connectors different? I know on various other cars the pumps are identical and the connectors can be swapped between them. Any help appreciated.
  5. Thats a lovely looking Elgrand. Welcome to the club
  6. Hi mate just to let you know the roof spoiler has arrived. Many thanks mate.
  7. Ever so slightly affects the colour of the emitted light 😂😂
  8. Welcome along. I had the same issue when using 2 different hotmail accounts. Managed to change my email address to a gmail address and I received the notification so all good and I was able to get to a meet the following day

    Mij exhaust

I had 2 jap style back boxes made up by them with 2.5" inlet and 5" tailpipes and they sounded fantastic only cost £35 per box and I simply reused my existing custom stainless pipework. They were very helpful too
  10. Cheers Kyle, I may have to try very hard to do an economy run just out of interest if thats the case. Spose I could always glue a block of wood under the accelerator so it only goes down 20% haha. I have only ever had bad experiences concerning mpg with cruise control on so dont use it anymore. Granted I havent yet tried it in the Zed but just dont like the way you can physically feel the car trying desperately to keep the same speed. Maybe Ive just experienced some bad designs but one of them was a porsche system so would expect it to be decent.
  11. My model is the DNX-4230BT. Below are a couple of pics, the first is of the unit and the main menu to show you the similarity and the 2nd is of the split screen function: The split screen is really handy. If you tap the bar at the very bottom of the screen which shows the radio station or track if listening to a CD then it will switch to the audio source as full screen but the bar will change to show written instructions of your nav. Tap the bottom bar again and it switches to the nav full screen. Its from here that you get the split screen options on the right hand side. If I were buying myself then I would probably shell out the extra for DAB but the model in your link doesnt seem to come with Nav as standard?? Looks like you need to download a Garmin app on your phone and then connect it to your head unit. I can only assume this then uses the data connection on your phone eating up your data plan if you drive alot of miles. My unit you can see has an SD card with the maps loaded on so uses no data connections and I can update them whenever I want.
  12. Had the same issue with mine when I bought it, both key fobs dead. Paid £1 for replacement duracells from B&Q and now all singing all dancing. CR2016 is the battery.
  13. Hi guys, As the title really. Recently purchased my Zed and it has plenum spacer, full Nismo exhaust, air filter etc etc. Now, on a long (180+ miles) 'spirited' run I am returning circa 28mpg. This invilves several WOT acceleration runs off roundabouts (for those that know the A46 will know there are a quite a few) up to Xmph and also motorway run of about 15-20miles at 90+ with a few jaunts if I get antagonised by some chavvy scrote. Also includes many miles of real good country driving roads. For me to have ever returned this much mpg from my style of driving is just fantastic. I have heard from several Zed owners that 28 is quite high for this kind of driving and others struggle to get 30+ on an economy run. (I cant confirm the mpg I get on an economy run because I havent dont one yet haha. Might try on the trip back tonight but doubt it will happen) So the above leads me to believe that the car may have been uprevved and tuned slightly to gain better mpg figures. Seen as you effectively buy an uprev license is there anyway I can check this online with my reg/chassis no.? Granted I wont be able to see if the ecu has been tuned in anyway until I get it hooked up but this will allow me to at least see if it has veen uprevved. Any advice appreciated. Rikki
  14. I will have to check the model of mine but it doesnt have DAB. Very similar to that one though and its brilliant. One feature I have not seen on any other unit is a split screen functionality so when you have the nav on you can split the screen in half and have your audio source on the other half which is handy as you dont need to keep changing source to switch tracks or radio stations. The only issue I have is that it is very quiet but it was installed by the previous owner and dont think it is currently hooked up to the stock amp so that wont help.
  15. Congratulations mate look forward to pictures and seeing 'how you want it' Enjoy
  16. Cheers mate. If you can PM me your address and phone number then I will let you know when I set off tomorrow. Cheers Rikki
  17. Got a few things on today now mate so tomorrow after 4pm would be best for me if thats ok?
  18. Lovely job, cheers buddy. Im in no great rush, so if this weekend isnt good for you then I will be back in the area next weekend aswell.
  19. Yeah I dont think I described it right haha. Basically the seal at the top of the rear window on mine has degraded and torn and looks tatty. Its not the actual seal so it doesnt leak, its the outer one that is purely for aesthetics to cover the edge of the glass. Issue I have is that you cant buy just the seal as it comes fitted to the rear screen which I dont want to replace due to tints and nothing actually being wrong with the window. That spoiler does look like it will cover it up just nicely and will save me claiming on insurance then paying for the tint again. Excellent I am just waiting on a member who has purchased some stuff from me and collecting tomorrow. Once I know when Im free I will let you know and we can go from there. I am definitely free after 4pm on Sunday though if that is good for you?
  20. Also Im only down the road this weekend in Dunstable area so could always pop over with cash and collect
  21. Very interested in the roof spoiler. Is this the one that sits over the top of the black seal on the rear window or does it sit only on the window with the outer seal still visible? Cheers Rikki
  22. Haha nice, mine isnt as obvious as your blue, I didnt even notice until I cleaned it the day after I bought it as its just the little stitches that are orange in mine. Looks good that though mate
  23. Ill give them a go mate, many thanks
