Anyone here moved out of London in recent years?
GranTurismoEra replied to GranTurismoEra's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Yeah with my job theres literally no need for me to be on site all the time. Many of our colleagues live as far as Isle of Sheppey, Reading and Watford slash Doncaster. At the moment we work longer days but are not in every single day fortunately. The furthest colleagues come in once a week. Others alternating weeks. Depends on the deal they have with the boss man Whereas my mate in Gloucester is fully remote goes into Reading once a month i think. Really heavily dependent on job type, management etc. -

my cousins are in Canada for University. They will be there for the foreseeable future. Just not sure about the weather tbh. Interesting prospect. -
Did anyone make this move in recent years? Finally my brother woke up to the realization that where we are is a shithole, litter everywhere, high crime, stolen cars, knife attacks, gang activity and no longer regal as it used to be. Ive been saying for years to get out. The queen used to visit Harrow and the famous Harrow school is 300 years old i think. Its now overpopulated, overcrowded and traffic is approaching New York levels. Its the most populated London borough at 270,000 within 16 square miles lol Found it frustrating when i got the first Nismo in 2017. We still have 4 years before our renewal. We are looking to move further North. Ideally Amersham, Aylesbury, Oxford, Milton Keynes. Id like to go westwards like Gloucester sides but for the interim I think going North would be better. Id still work and commute to London. Im not giving up my job at a small radio station anytime soon. My brother is happy to change career altogether. So I would still need commuting now and then with some adjustments to my rota. Obviously we would look for something similar 3 bed with a driveway (very important) that costs slightly less and release some funds for investment into wherever. ISA, Buy to Let at my retirement location, Timeshares etc....just kidding.... I think for our mental health it would be a good move. Plus can embrace a new way of life, even eat more organic and breathe real fresh air. I was never a London guy anyway so no real loss. I visit central London at my leisure once a year....Mostly im there for work....Londons for visiting not for living in 😅. Mini rant over!

The only other Nismo you might see will be a manual. Which is unlikely

Looks good ngl...Wish Nissan can do something similar in a few years. Looks slightly larger than Z4

Yeah lots of carbon fibre and track ready. Some stuff borrowed from Ford GT

Or you can save money and just get resonated short tails...basically what the car sounds like without being muffled.....Resonated Short tails are perfect as I can go around in the City below 75 DB and avoid Noise cameras. But It can also be as loud as 110DB which can land a fine. It sounds great in the tunnels and on the motorway. People tend to speed up and move out of the way. Proper Sound insulation of the trunk area and arches are the only thing lacking with the Z. I got the GT so unfortunately i dont get the burbles and pops you get with the Nismo

Cars are starting to flow in to USA although slowly. Seems like markups have reduced. About 171 cars for sale on US Autotrader site. A lot around 54,000 dollars which is £43,000 for Performance models. Maybe they havent added the markup and thats just to invite people to enquire. I did see a white Performance model with blue interior for 54k in Virginia. Very nice. Base models are around £33,000 before add ons. The ones in Japan still have huge markups

It is what it is. Hiring helicopters and Multiple racetracks isnt cheap....As someone that played all the games pre PS4 modern era and got me into jdm id say it was great that Sony did it. Its been years in the making They could do a series not centered around Jann just a guy with a dream to race at Le Mans but itll be more or less the same story...it would be better to just make a Nissan race history film instead. But I think theyve told the story they wanted to tell and they got a spike in GT7 players out of it. Plus the kids got to see and genuinely hear GTRs, Ferraris and Huracans moving at Speed. I didnt care about romantic interests and storylines. So my expectations were low. Save that cheesecake stuff for Netflix. -
It is said to be oem plus and quiet. So it wont blow up any tunnels. Its not as loud as the 350z version
-
Its the same profiles as previous Nismo i think. 35 rear 40 front. The gap is something BMW have mastered. Obviously people still lower the M2s further. It comes low from factory. Youll most likely change the oem tires if theyre Bridgestones anyway or dunlops. Id go with 40 rears and 40 in front. Maybe 10 up for width as well. 285/295 19 40 rear. Depends Apparently the suspension settings are soft from factory. So spring swap should sort it.

We went to South Wales Recently.....Hopefully there will be another driveout soon im sure

yeah they dont care, reminds me of the old GTR owners :D..Had one side by side on the A40 going into London from Batallion. Had a quick chat before he zoomed off braking hard for the average speed camera. "stick to jap, cant go wrong". That was 2016 in the 350Z. Then after that nothing lol -

74db is the limit for EU but that might change. 74db is a bit lower than cold start with an oem exhaust. -

No people in London have Zeds theyre just not on this forum or attend meets. Its a new generation of owners. Younger and not interested in socializing outside their own circles. Organizing their own meets elsewhere. Check Instagram. They dont flash or acknowledge each other like back in the day anymore. Ive spoken to a few who dont go to meets. All good, its been a good run. -

Loud supercar engine noises captured by new noise cameras https://mol.im/a/12415011#v-6057835385478823262 via https://dailym.ai/android The video is fair enough. Over 100db....... can't argue too much with that. Thats why i love resonated short tails....quiet enough -
what city are you based?

Not a fan of the colour but hey

Infiniti could have done a powerful Q60 Hybrid as a glimpse into the future of Z. For the facelift model possibly. That would come with the typical tech and features of a luxury GT. Being Infiniti. This particular model has a short lifespan with Japans new emissions laws for 2025

From Pistonheads Unfortunately you won’t be able to import the Nismo version of this car until it is at least 10 years old, and that assumes the VOSA import checks at that time allow newly imported old cars to be non EVs. However even if that is the case, Nissan will not provide certain documentation for a Nismo product outside of its chosen markets. That is specifically you will need a type designation number which confirms the car is homologated to certain safety and environmental standards. And without it you cannot register it in the UK if the car is less than 10 years old Is IVA no more? Yeah I'll be honest, it's been a while since I looked into this but I think you could just IVA a Jap import now? No chance , you need a TDN regardless and Nissan ain’t giving you one. I tried very hard a few years ago to import a Nismo Note but came across this issue. It’s not just that Nissan won’t provide the TDN, but that no one knows what format it should be in to pass the IVA. Ah that's it, the TDN is the issue. I knew there was something different for under 10 years but it's really not clear on DVLA anymore. This is where you'd need to go through single vehicle approval isn't it which is a huge amount of money.I seem to remember a company did it years ago for a Jap car, can't remember what it was though but it then allowed them to import them as they were never coming to the UK.
